Mary Amelia Hopkins

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Mary Amelia Hopkins, age 71 from English Harbour at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on July 25, 2015. Predeceased by parents, James and Barbara Tucker, granddaughter Natasha and brothers-in-law Austin Oldford and James Bailey. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons, Danny (Sandi), Timothy (Natasha), Gerry, Rob (Shannon); daughter, Kathy (Ross); grandchildren, Amber, Riley, Ryan, Chantal, Will, Timmie, Nathan and Natalie; great grandchild, Leah; brother, Alex (Marlene); sisters, Gloria (Harry), Irene (Stan), Phyllis, Patsy, Barbie and Debbie; special friends, Stephanie, Evelyn and Juanita and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cremation took place and visitation took place from the United Church, English Harbour. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Patrick Francis Ricketts

Passed in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: July 17th, 2015

Passed away peacefully on July 17, 2015 in Toronto after a lengthy illness. Loving father of Amanda (Chris), Jamie (Tasha), Patrick and step-father of Ashley and Lindsay (Mitchell). Proud grandfather of Kal-El, Joshua, Jayden, Alex and Shelby. Cherished brother of Albert, Sheila, Patricia (predeceased), Kay Mary, Brendan, Geraldine, Kevin and Juanita. Patrick will be missed by many relatives and friends. Cemetary service will be held at the Catholic Cemetary in King's Cove, Newfoundland on August 15 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Melvin Boyde Carberry

Passed away peacefully at his home with loving wife Vinie (nee Ivany) and family by his side, on Friday August 7, 2015. Melvin B. Carberry was in his 72nd year, and is lovingly remembered by children, Derek (Delene) and Angela (Steve). Predeceased by parents Alfred and Mary Carberry. Cherished Poppy to Chandler, Aaron, Chelsey, Brendan, Joshua, and Lauryn. Dear brother of Stanley (Betty), Rebecca (Ralph), Gordon (Mary), Viola, Vera (Otto), Monica (Woodrow), Laura, Doris, Marg (Steve), Reg (Glenna), Karen (Ivan), Gardner (Nancy), Iris (Denis), Carl (Sue) and predeceased by Clayton and Lindsay (Dianne). Fondly remembered by sisters and brothers-in-law Ariel (predeceased) (Laude), Eleanor (William, predeceased), Jimmy, Harvey (Robena), Ches (Doreen), Bill, Max (Evelyn), Maxine (Wayne), Shirley and Ruby. Visitation will be held at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Thursday August 13, from 12 to 1 p.m. with Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. Les Butler
Born: October 4th, 1922
Passed on: July 22nd, 2015

We are saddened to announce the passing of Les Butler, loving husband of 65 years to Norah, Father to Eileen (Lajos), Edna (Ron), Diane (Rob), Adele, Mark (Lori), Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Born in Port Rexton, NL, Les came to B.C. in 1946. He retired in 1984 as Deputy Chief, after a long and distinguished career with the West Vancouver Fire Department. His most memorable times were spent on the ocean, hunting, hiking, building and being with family. He leaves behind a legacy of adventure, determination and love. A memorial service was held at Gleneagles Golf Course on August 4th. A service will take place at a later date in Port Rexton. If desired, donations in Les' memory may be made to the Devon Clifford Memorial Foundation, in honour of his grandson Devon.

- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Friday, July 31, 2015, Miriam King of Little Heart's Ease, aged 95 years. Predecesed by husband Baxter; brother Norman and sister Sadie. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters Joyce (Hughie) and Gloria (Hedley); son Harold (Elaine); 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; sister Dorothy; and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Heart's Ease. Funeral service took place on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the United Church, Little Heart's Ease with interment at United Cemetery, Little Heart's Ease. In her memory donations may be made to the United Church, Little Heart's Ease.

Susannah (Susie) Reid

Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family, at the Health Science Center, St. John's on Wednesday August 5, 2015 Susannah (Susie) Reid of Little Hearts Ease in her 82nd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Crystal Russell and husband Peter of Lawrence Town, NS; grandchildren Rebecca Webber and husband James, Allannah Russell and William Joseph Russell all of Lawrence Town, NS; sister Daphne Stacey of Alberta; brother Steven Soper of Little Hearts Ease plus a large circle of other family and friends. Pre-deceased by her husband Joseph and sister Phyllis Pond. Funeral service was officiated by Majors Rex and Darlene Colbourne on Sunday Aug. 9, 2015 at the Salvation Army Church, Little Hearts Ease with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery Little Hearts Ease. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home - Shoal Harbour.

Alfred George Pippy

It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of (Alfred) George Pippy, age 73, at his residence in Burgoyne's Cove on August 4, 2015. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Sarah Pippy; brothers, Augustus and Joseph; sisters, Alfreda, Mahala, Elsie and Rita. Left with many fond and loving memories are his wife, Charlotte; children, Judy (Joe), Donna (Dean), Scot (Lynda) and Charlene (Harvey); grandchildren, Trista, Jody, Brittany, Tiffany, Gregory, DJ and Hannah; great grandchildren, Makayla, Leighton and Zachary; sisters, Jessie, Eliza, Ella, Lucy, Rachel (Morris) and Rubena (Harvey) and a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Baggs; husband, Donald; sisters, Nora, Annie, Effie; brother, Bill; grandsons, Scott, Don; great grandchildren, Neil and Robyn. She will be sadly missed by her children; Gordon (Joyce), Mervin (Faye), Betty (Cliff), Ira (Mary), Loretta (Harry), Dennis (Martha), Lloyd (Joyce), Gower (Despina), Wanda (Chris), Roger (Judy Lynn); thirty four grandchildren, sixty seven great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife Beatrice, parents William and Laura, sister Delphine Simmons and brother Lloyd Dean. Left with fond and loving memories his children Johnny (Dolores) of Little Heart's Ease, Natalie Whalen (Brian) of Caplin Cove, Sandra Spurrell (Terry) of Hodge's Cove; six grandchildren Brian, Bradley, Emily, Brittany, Rachel, Paige; one great granddaughter Mya; sisters Millicent Lambert (Hector) of Ivany's Cove, Frances Kelly (Lewis) of Southport; brothers Jim (Joyce) of Portland, Gladstone (Linda) of Southport, Allan (Meta) of Southport, Alonzo (Janet) of Southport and a large circle of family and friends.
