HEFFORD, Gladys- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, November 26, 2009, Gladys Hefford of Snook's Harbour, Random Island, aged 60 years. Predeceased by her father Wilfred Thomas. Left with fond and loving memories her husband of 34 years, Dyrell; daughters Cindy (Keith Hewlett), Bloomfield and Chrissi (John Sheppard), Fort McMurray, AB; son Grant, Snook's Harbour; mother Sarah Thomas; brothers Boyd, Dartmouth, NS and Fred (Theresa), Mount Pearl; grandchildren Hannah, Patrick, Jared, Matthew and Liam and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. In her memory donations may be made to Daffodil Place, St. John's. Private family funeral and interment have taken place.

RALPH, Bessie- Passed peacefully away surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, November 26, 2009, Bessie Ralph of Winterbrook, aged 93 years, briefly resided at Cozy Quarters, Clarenville. Predeceased by husband Frank; two sisters and two brothers. Left with fond and loving memories her sons Norman (Dolly), Albert (Ann) and Rex (Glenda); grandchildren Debbie, Carol (Glenn), Frank (Carol), Todd (Sharon), Keith (Shelley), Sheldon (Stephanie), Lorrie and Denise (Paul); 14 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Winterbrook. Funeral service took place on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Winterbrook with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Winterbrook. In her memory donations may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Winterbrook.

PENNEY, Ida Frances, March 26,1924 - November 27, 2009
Passed peacefully away at Dr. Albert O'Mahony Manor on Friday Nov. 27, 2009 Ida Frances Penney of Canning's Cove in her 85th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: Sons: David and wife Elsie of Canning's Cove, Herbert and wife Audrey of Lethbridge and Walter of Canning's Cove; Daughters: Lucille Skiffington and husband Scott of Canning's Cove, Betty Oakly (Robert) of Lethbridge; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Sister: Elsie Chatman plus a large circle of family and friends. Pre-deceased by husband Cyril. Funeral service was officiated from St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Canning's Cove on November 30, 2009 with interment following at the Anglican Cemetery, Canning's Cove. MATTHEWS, Doris (Keats)- Passed peacefully away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the Health Sciences Center, St. John's, very special wife, mother, and grandmother, Doris Matthews of Musgravetown, aged 75 years. Predeceased by her parents, Claude and Lily Keats; her sisters, Joyce anu Mavis. Mourning her loss but inspired by her example of courage, quiet determination, and faith are her husband, Ralph; her children and their families: Eugene (Donna), Courtney and Whitney; Craig (Jennifer), Andrew, Heidi, and Christopher; June (Robert); Gwen (Dennis), Christy and Lacey. Her brothers, Hector (Joan); Wallace (Linda); her sister, Cavell (Hayward). Her much loved nephews and nieces, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends whose lives she touched in so many ways. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Funeral service took place on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Heritage United Church, Musgravetown. BRINSTON, Howard John, September 27, 1939 - November 26,2009- With the heaviest of hearts and the deepest sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Howard John Brinston aged 70 years. Howard passed away at his home in North Harbour on November 26, 2009. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 36 years Marie; Sons: Trevor of North Harbour. Troy and wife Terri of Ft. McMurray, AB and Trent of North Harbour; Daughters: Joyce Brinston (Steven Boudreau) of North Sydney, Jennifer and husband Ronald Barrett of North Harbour and Jessica of North Harbour. Sister: Marcella (Ralph Lush) of Trinton, Brothers: Eric Brinston (Madonna), Ivan Brmston (Ethel) and Charles of North Harbour. TUCKER, Bev- Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenvllle, November 27th, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, from a short battle of cancer, Bev Tucker, age 49 years. Predeceased by her father, Samuel Vokey and brother Clyda Vokey. Leaving to mourn, husband and best friend of 29 years, Austin; daughter, Sandl (Danny); son, Shannon (Jenna), daughter, Sheena (Roger); treasured grandchildren, Rlley and Ryan; much loved pets, Mister and Bandit; mother, Phyllis; sister, Jan; nephew, Shane; brother, Sheldon (Val); niece, Abby Marie and also a large circle of extended family and friends. Left with fond and loving memories his sisters: Marilyn (Harry Adams), Clarenville, Joan (Bruce Anstey), Corner Brook, Doreen Sutton, Alliston, ON and Beverley (Randy Goodyear), Burgoyne's Cove; brothers: Roy Coish (Janette), Kirkfield, ON and Evan Penney (Diane), Middle Sackville, NS, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

ROBBINS, Eliab- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, December 6, 2009, Eliab Robbins of St. Jones Within, aged 82 years. Predeceased by parents William and Emily Robbins; brother John and sister Jean Robbins. Sister; Blanche Caines, Ontario, Sister-in-law; Linda Mouland (Peter), Nova Scotia. FROST, Joyce- On the morning of December 14, 2009, surrounded by family, passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer. The last few weeks and days she continued to show her free spirit with laughter and wit. Predeceased by parents Linda and Eli Hutchings of Sunnyside. Leaving to celebrate her life, her husband of 60 years, Clayton; children Sandra Avery (Terry), Wayne Frost (Faye), Judy Holloway (Will), Diane Curtis (Terry) and Shona Stoyles (Boyd); grandchildren Mark (Mandy), Cory (Kim), Jon (Sherry), Leanne (Kevin), Stephanie (Jason), Jenelle (Andrew), Michael (Kayla), David, Max and Racquel; great grandchildren Sarah and Ethan; sisters Lillian (Harold) and Violet; brothers Ralph, Harry (Margaret) and Alex (Wendy); nieces, nephews and a large circle of close relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service took place at Grace United Church, Hillview on Saturday, December 19, 2009. Donations in her memory may be made to Grace United Church, Hillview.

CURL- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, Philip Curl of Princeton, aged 76 years. Predeceased by parents Solomon and Florence Curl; brothers Harold, Clarence, Solomon Jr., Thomas and step-son Carl Butt. Left with fond and loving memories, wife Harriett; daughter Nancy; son Elvis, stepson Keith Butt (Ruby); sisters Margaret, Lina Dowden (James), Josephine Barrett and Mildred (Jeffrey); brothers Herb (Marie), Grafton (Greta), Wesley (Loretta), Ralph (Helen), Melvin (Clara), Hollis (Laura) and Austin (Ruth); grandchildren Neil, David, Adam, Michael, Teri-Lyn Healy (Jim), Patricia, Anthony and Chesley Butt; great grandchildren Carl Jacob and Taylor Butt and a large circle of relatives and friends. EDDY, Boyd- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, December 17, 2009, Boyd Eddy of Garden Cove, aged 87 years. Predeceased by wife Audrey. Left with fond and loving memories children Paulette Worthen (Elliott), Jerry Eddy, Christine Eddy, Susan Higgins (John), Donna Eddy (Rick Phillips) and Scott Eddy; "brother" Don Brinston; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at United Church, Garden Cove. Funeral service' took place on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at United Church, Garden Coves with interment at United Cemetery, Garden Cove. In his memory donations may be made to United Church, Garden Cove or Garden Cove Walking Trail.

YETMAN, Rex- Canadian Bluegrass Pioneer. Founder of Canada's first Bluegrass band the York County Boys. Former member of Nfld's Crooked Stovepipe, passed peacefully away after a long illness, fought with courage and dignity, on Friday, December 18, 2009, one day before his 76th birthday. Predeceased by his parents, Bob and Jane Yetman; brothers, Roy (Elizabeth), Sam and Max; brothers-in-law, Gerry Dagenais and Boyd Ivany. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marie; daughters Susan (Brian), Tina (Jim) and Lesley (Gordon), and son Robert (Amber-Dawn); brother Lloyd (Doreen); sisters Marion, Alma, Jean (Walter); sisters-in-law Belinda and June; cherished grandchildren Michelle (Hunter), Jenny (Mike), Amanda (Rob), Darren, Jonathan, Brandon (Christy), Amber, Jesse and Jordan; 7 precious great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home in Lethbridge. A Musical Celebration of his life took place at St. James Anglican Church in Jamestown on Monday, December 21, 2009 followed by the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. James Memorial Fund. A family memorial will be held in Ontario at a later date.
