Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Albert O'Mahony Manor, Clarenville on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Mary Ann Langor of Gooseberry Cove in her 85th year. Predeceased by husband George, 62 years married; parents Edgar and Emma Spurrell; brother Harrison. Left with fond and loving memories his daughter Geraldine Mercer (The Reverend Father Edward Mercer), Bishop's Cove; sons George, Corner Brook and Warren (Paula Kelly), Gooseberry Cove; grandchildren Samantha Soper and Natalie Langor; sisters Ninie Smith (Joseph), Gooseberry Cove, Kitty Dawe (Donald), Little Hearts Ease and Nellie Smith, Sunnyside; brothers Ronald Spurrell (Lillian) and Fred Spurrell (Dot); and a large circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Toronto General Hospital on Saturday, January 26, 2013, Steven Bailey of Toronto, ON, formerly of Old Bonaventure, aged 33 years. Left with fond and loving memories his parents Garland and Daphne; brothers Gregory (Lori) and Geoffrey (Bernard); nephews Nicholas, Spencer and Nathan; nieces Alexandra, Calista and Amy; and a large circle of family and friends. A service for the Celebration of his life took place at the former St. Luke's Anglican Church, Old Bonaventure on Saturday, February 2, 2013.

A loving husband and father and a very proud grandfather, passed suddenly but peacefully at the Health Science Centre on Tuesday, January 29th, 2013 after a short illness, age 68 years. Predeceased by his father George Michelin. Leaving to mourn his loving mother Dorothy; wife Margaret (nee FitzPatrick); daughters Shelley Rae Michelin Smith (Cliff), Arlene Michelin Pittman (Glennie) and Randene Michelin Lambe (Marty); grandchildren Adam (Stephanie), Melissa (Heather), Georgia Rose and Maggie Catherine; five sisters Marguerite (Bob), Ethel (Gerry), Norma, June (Dereck) and Lynn "Bertha"; five brothers Howard (Helen), Dickie (Carolyn), Reggie (Joann) Bernie (Annette) and Stewart; as well a numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also leaving with fond and loving memories the many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces in the FitzPatrick family. A special consideration to family and friends residing on Random Island, NL and Happy Valley Goose Bay Labrador. Special thank you to his nephew George Michelin. Lizzie (Betty) Jeanetta Gilbert (nee Brown)

Passed peacefully away at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 20th, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Betty of Little Harbour East, formerly of Kingwell, Placentia Bay, was predeceased by husband George, parents Wilson and Mondella Brown, brothers George, John, Norman, sisters Pearl and Bertha. Leaving to mourn brothers Frank, Ben, Harry (Shonda), Percy (Alice), Tom (Marie), nieces and nephews. Cremation, visitation and service have taken place, internment to follow at a later date. Thank you to Rev. Hussey and Rev. Collett, organist Ada Dicks, sister-in-law Betty for readings. Special thanks to Freeman Gilbert for his rendition of "Where Roses Never Fade". Margaret Glenda (Stacey) Miller
- of St. John's, NL, formerly of Garden Cove, passed away Saturday February 9, 2013, on her 65th birthday, with her dedicated husband Freeman Hollett by her side. Visitations took place at Barrett's Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Avenue from 10am-12pm on Tuesday February 12, 2013. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2pm from Barrett's Funeral Home Chapel, 73 Commonwealth Ave, Mount Pearl, NL, with Rev. Scott Parsons BA, BEd, MDiv, United Church, Officiating. Cremation has taken place, interment of ashes to follow at a later date. Margaret was born to Annie and Alexander Stacey on Sound Island, February 9, 1948. She was an avid reader and fastidious coin collector who sought contentment in the contest of a new logic puzzle. Always quick with a quip and a grin, she loved her family above all else. She is survived by husband Freeman Hollett, son Stephen (Karla) Miller, son Bradley (Michelle) Miller, daughter Glenda (Brendan) Hollett and a loving circle of family and friends. Margaret is predeceased by brother Wayne Stacey 2003, mother Annie (Downey) Stacey 2008 and father Alexander Stacey 2009. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice or flowers gratefully accepted no daisies please. The family would like to thank the staff of the Hoyles-Escasoni PCU for their special care, Dr. Phair and the nursing team at the HSC and all our supportive friends and family.

Maxwell A. Coles
Born: December 20th, 1921
Passed on: January 16th, 2013

Passed peacefully away after a short illness at St. Eustache Hospital in Quebec on Wednesday January 16, 2013. Max was born on December 20, 1921 in Glace Bay, NS and grew up in Brooklyn, Bonavista Bay. He is predeceased by his loving wife Olive, his parents Sophie and Percy Coles, stepfather Jack Thistle, brother Frank and sister Peggy Mrazik. He is survived by his sister Emma Byrne, brother in law George Mrazik, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Max was a World War II Veteran. He was a skilled navigator, flying in Lancaster bombers. He survived against great odds while flying 45 sorties over Germany with the RAF. He then joined the RCAF until the end of the war. Max was awarded many medals, most notably the Distinguished Flying Medal. Shortly after wars end, he joined CN Railway in Montreal as an engineer where he remained until he retired. Max was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185 in Two Mountains, Quebec. Max's ashes have been returned to his beloved Newfoundland and will be interned in Brooklyn at a later date, when a celebration of his life will be held.
Rest in peace, Max. You have certainly earned it.

Dorothy Verna Duffett

Passed away at Bonavista Hospital on Jan. 29, 2013, at the age of 81. Predeceased by her parents Basil and Emiline Ryan; sister Margaret, brothers Bert and Raymond; sister-in-law, Dulcie. Left to mourn husband Ben; sons, Larry (Bozena); Calvin (Margaret); daughter, Margaret; grandchildren Roxanne (Kevin); Tonya (Michael); David (Nicole); Kim (Bobby); Peter (Collette); Barbara (Ronnie); Jacqueline (Robby); great grandchildren Chloe; Makayla; Emily; Benjamin; Adam; Jayda: Haylee; Jake: Riley. Also left with fond and loving memories, brother Clar (Eleanor); Gary (Sonja); Dereck (Jenny); sister in law, Doris; brother-in-law Ancel (Mildred); Harold (Penny); Frank (Marie; sister-in-law- Elaine (Calvin); many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Ronald (Ron) Stringer
Born: July 5th, 1947

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, February 04, 2013, Ronald Stringer of Little Heart's Ease in his 65th year. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his beloved wife Selina of 48 years; Daughters: Sheila (Mike) of Brampton, ON, Lisa (Ed) of Virgin Arm, NL., Sons: Travis (Amber) of Brampton, ON, Preston (Melanie) of Seal Cove, CBS, and Morgan (Kim) of Victoria, BC. Ron was blessed with 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also, brothers Ralph, Alonzo and Gerald. Predeceased by brother Leonard. Plus a large circle of family and friends. Left with fond and loving memories her husband Garland; son Ryan (Melanie); grandchildren Damon and Kallie; mother Ida Powell; mother-in-law Cora Murphy; sister Laura Myles (Ron Ploughman), Joyce Yetman (Roy) and Bernice Chatman (Ron); brother Hedley (Patsy); nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at the Salvation Army Citadel, Charlottetown. Funeral service took place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 with interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Charlottetown.

- Peacefully passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ontario on Sunday, February 24, 2013. Edgar Pitcher of Bradford at 69 years of age (born in Old Bonaventure, NL). Beloved husband of Daphne Pitcher (nee Cooper). Dear father of Trevor (Joanna) Pitcher, Renee Pitcher (Owen Jones) and Scott Cooper. Proud grandpa of Kaitlyn, Greyson and Holland Pitcher; Thomas and Ashley Jones. Dear brother of Annie (Reginald) King, Lindsey (Ellen) Pitcher and the late Weston (Marina) Pitcher. Edgar will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. At Edgar's request cremation has taken place. In Edgar's memory donations may be made to Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ontario. Arrangements entrusted to SKWARCHUK FUNERAL HOME, Bradford
