SENIOR, Roy
Passed peacefully away at his home on Friday, February 22, 2002, Roy F. Senior of North Harbour, aged 64 years. Predeceased by his parents James and Agnes, sister Pearl Peddle, brothers-in-law Walter Green and Fred Stockley. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Stella of 42 years; sister Sarah Stockley, Glenbrook Lodge, St. John's; brother-in-law Cecil Peddle, Escasoni Home, St. John's; nephew James Green; niece Agnes Budgell and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at Bethel United Church, North Harbour. Funeral service held Monday, February 25, 2002 from Bethel United Church, North Harbour with interment at United Cemetery, North Harbour. In his memory donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.

Vardy, James Allison
(August 30, 1939 - February 22, 2002)

Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, James Allison Vardy of Hickman's Harbour. Predeceased by his parents James and Belle Vardy, grandaughter Sarah Rebecca Vardy, brother Scott and sister Sally. He will be greatly missed by his wife Edith; children Trudy (Bruce Davis), Beverly (Dave Stone), Denice (Scott MacDonald), Lorne (Tracy Simmonds), Elaine(Greg Kirby), Lloyd (Tina Laite) and Darrell (Gerri Lynn Duffett); grandchildren Nicholas, Joshua, Laura, Matthew, Timothy, Olivia, Alexander and Curtis; six brothers and two sisters and their spouses; also a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral took place Monday, February 25, 2002 at the United Church, Hickman's Harbour. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Hickman's Harbour. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

SEWARD, Cyril
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, March 3, 2002, Cyril Seward of Gooseberry Cove, aged 78 years. Predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sisters Margaret Meaney of Mount Pearl and Mary Smith of Gooseberry Cove, a large number of nephews, nieces, family and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Little Hearts Ease. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 from the Roman Catholic Church, Gooseberry Cove with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Gooseberry Cove. In his memory donations may be made to Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

PHILLIPS, Julia Phoebe
Passed suddenly away at her residence on February 28, Julia Phoebe Phillips of Burgoyne's Cove in her 74th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband William Robert, sons Bruce Wheeler (Nellie) and Wilson Wheeler (Annabella), daughter Donna Miller (Leroy), sisters Cecilia Stanford and Grace Humby; brothers Jack Wareham and Finley Wareham; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove. Funeral service was held Monday, March 4 from the Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Eric Squires. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Burgoyne's Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour. We care.

BUTT, Violet
Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on February 23, 2002, Violet Butt (nee Russell) of Winter Brook, age 85 years. Leaving to mourn loving husband of 63 years Dorman; daughters Maxine (Jack) Earle, Paradise, Verda (Gordon) Pike, Portland; sons Clifford, Vancouver, Christopher (Frances), Winter Brook, Gordon (Sandra), Botwood, Larry (Wendy), Cambridge, ON, Derrick (Wendy), Tottenham, ON; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Max (Dolly), Portland; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service held Wednesday, February 27, 2002 from United Church, Portland with interment at United Cemetery, Winter Brook. In her memory, donations may be made to the United Church, Portland.

SWEETLAND, Harold
Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, Harold Sweetland, aged 82 years. Predeceased by his wife Sue, 1994, and his brother Cyril, 1997. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories two sons Alex (Eileen), Clarenville and Fred (Shirley), Corner Brook; four grandchildren Sheri-Lynne, Lori, Paul and Mark; brother Charles (Helen), Stephenville; sister-in-law Frances, Bonavista; Eric Durdle, a very close friend of the family; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista. Funeral service from Christ Church, Bonavista, Friday, March 8, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

JACOBS, Lesile John
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, Leslie John Jacobs of North West Brook, aged 83 years. Predeceased by his son Henry Jacobs, 1947. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Johanna Jacobs of 58 years; daughters Elsie Adams (Baxter), Milton, Doreen Peddle, North West Brook, Ivy Dean (Melvin), North West Brook, Jeannette Boutcher (David), Ontario and Maxine Beck (Melbum), Come By Chance; sons Clarence Robbins (Mary), Deer Lake, Lester Jacobs, Nova Scotia, Chesley Jacobs (Louise), North West Brook, Russell Jacobs (Deborah), Ontario, Alvin Jacobs (Sharon), Alberta and Terry Jacobs (Michelle), North West Brook; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and fiiends. Rested at the United Church, North West Brook. Funeral service took place on Thursday, March 7, 2002 with interment at the United Cemetery, North West Brook. In his memory donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

GREENING-PRICE, Gladys
Passed peacefully away at Lions Manor, Placentia on February, 26, 2002, Gladys   Greening, aged 90 years. Predeceased by her first husband William James Price, 1949, and her second husband Leslie Greening, 1990. Leaving to mourn her son Harvey Price (June); daughters Mildred Avery (Donny), Pearl Baker (Allen), Janie Greening (Winston) and Marie Holloway (Winston); brother Calvert Meadus; sisters Blanche Goobie, Leonie Tucker and Dorothy Critch; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; the Greening family; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Friday, March 1, 2002 from the United Church, Hillview with interment at the United Church Cemetety, Hillview. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Hospital on February 28, Margaret Mackey of Melrose in her 82nd year. Predeceased by husband Patrick Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Michael, wife Sarah, of Clarenville; three grandchildren Lori, Neil and Terry; one great-grandson Michael; two sisters Kate (Frank Colbert) of St. Brendans and Sadie of Knights Cove; plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 4 from the R. C. Church, Port Union. Mass was conducted by Father McCarthy. Interment followed at the R.C. NORRIS, Ernest
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, February 28, 2002, Ernest S. Norris of Little Hearts Ease, aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Edith of 56 years; daughters June Price (Harvey), Hatchet Cove, Clarabel Seward (Austin), Gooseberry Cove and Dolores (John Dean), Little Hearts Ease; sons Seymour (Marjorie), Silas (Gail) and Paul (Elaine), all of Little Hearts Ease; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a num­ber of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service held on Saturday, March 2, 2002 from Victory Pentecostal Church, Little Hearts Ease with interment at Pentecostal Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.

NORMAN, Mary
Passed away at the Bonavista Hospital on February 24, 2002, Mary Norman of Port Union, age 92. Leaving to mourn daughters Evelyn, Doris (Arch) and Lillian; son Donald (Florence); 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters Madeline, Ethel, Bertha and Rose. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Jessie of 57 years; daughters Rita, Daisy, Vera, Sharon and Paulette; sons Evan, Ron and Dave; 11 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren; and a large number of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home, St. John's on Monday, March 4, 2002, Ann Olivia Slade of Arnold's Cove, formerly of Kingwell, Placentia Bay, aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Nathaniel, 1984. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sisters Elizabeth (Sam Upshall), Little Harbour East and Georgina (Harry Bailey), Arnold's Cove; brothers Freeman and Mose Ingram of Arnold's Cove and Lloyd Ingram, Toronto; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Arnold's Cove. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Helen of 57 years; daughter Eileen (Ron Miller), Port Rexton; two grandchildren Jody and Denise; a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral service held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 from St. Clement's Anglican Church, Champney's West with interment at Anglican Cemetery, Champney's West. In his memory donations may be made to St. Clement's Anglican Church Fund.

RUSSELL, Ann
Passed peacefully away at Dr. 0. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, March 11, 2002, Ann D. Russell (Stewart) of Clarenville, aged 90 years. Predeceased by her husband Felix, 1996 and brother William, 1971. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Clyde (Florence), Clarence (Ann) and Frazer (Sherry), all of Clarenville; grandchildren Jason (Laura), Katrina (Carl), Jill (Paul), Leslie, Dustin (Charlene), Erin and Julia; great-grandson Felix; brothers-in-law Max Russell (Doll) and Dorman Butt; sisters-in-law Trixie Russell and Elsie Russell; special friends Avis and Effie; and a circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on March 15, 2002, Eileen Keough, age 63, from Plate Cove. Leaving to mourn sons, Eugene (Christina) and Theodore; daughter, Christine (Kenneth); five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Rowena (Emmanuel), Milton and Mariam, Plate Cove; and two step-brothers, Tom Hibbs (Mabel), Milton and Don Hodder (Gloria), Burgoyne's Cove. Funeral took place on March 18, 2002 at Random Catholic Church, Plate Cove. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Plate Cove. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

Melvin J. Brown
( April 3rd, 1949 - March 15th, 2002).

Entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 15th, 2002, Melvin J. Brown of Hatchet Cove, age 52 years and 11 months. Predeceased by father John; mother Delilah and sister, Shirley. Leaving to mourn with precious memories sister, Sylvia (Eric), Hatchet Cove; brother, Pierce (Cathy), Toronto; daughter, Melanie, Red Head Cove, CB; son Sreven, Geand Prairie, Alberta; and their mother, Loretta, Dawson Creek, BC. Also lovingly remembered by nieces, Tammy (Neil), Sarah and Tara; nephew, Shawn; and Aunt Jean Smith, Hodge's Cove. Will also be rembered by his cousins, relatives and a large number of friends in Newfoundland and across Canada. Funeral service was held at St. Stephen's Church, Hatchet Cove on Monday, March 18. Conducted by Rev Bill Williams of Clarenville. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. Interment at the United Church Cemetery, Hatchet Cove.
