Clyde Anderson
Passed on: September 29th, 2011

Passed peacefully away at the Dr.G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on September 26, 2011, Clyde Anderson, age 80, from Petley. Predeceased by parents, John and Geneva Anderson; son, Rodney; brother, Chesley; sister-in-law, Sheila; brothers-in-law, Harry George and Fred Laite. He leaves to mourn his partner, Margaret; sons, Rick (Monica) and Charles; daughter, Madelaine (Jason); step-sons, Bryan (Elizabeth), Mike (Cara) and Paul; sisters, Gertie George and Ruple Laite; grandchildren, Jonathan, Serena, Joshua, Dannielle, Joshua, Geneva, Sabrina, Alexis, Derek, Ann-Marie; great grandchild, Skyler; nephews, nieces and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Vera Abbott, took place on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from the United Church, Britannia with interment following.

Arthur Douglas Sweetland
Passed on: September 24th, 2011
Passed peacefully away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer at the Bonavista Hospital on September 24, 2011, Douglas Sweetland of Bonavista, aged 61 years. Predeceased by parents, Arthur and Dorothy. Left with loving memories, his wife, June, of 39 years; daughter, Angela (Glen) Lewis; son, Bronson; sisters-in-law, Brenda Joy and Alexine Taylor; brothers-in-law, Lorne (Jeanette) Lodge and Bronson (Sherry) Lodge; aunt, Maude Ryan; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very large circle of friends. Rested at Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista. Funeral service took place on September 28, 2011 at Anglican Christ Church, Bonavista, with internment following at the Anglican Cemetary.

Calvin Ash
Passed on: October 11th, 2011
ASH, Calvin -
Passed away at his home, Portland, Bonavista Bay on October 11, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, Calvin Ash, age 85 years. Predeceased by parents William and Ruth (Hancock) Ash, brothers James, Donald, Edric and Wilfred, sisters Ruth McCracken, Nellie Norman, Phoebe Long and Dolly Russell. Left with fond and loving memories his wife of 57 years, Maxine; daughters: Pat (Malcolm), Lois (Clayton) and son Jeff (Colene); sister Genevieve Miller (Kitchener, deceased) of St. John's; brother Maurice (Barbara) of Porter's Lake, NS; grandchildren: Anne (Murley), Stuart, Nick and Chelsey; a great-granddaughter Sheyanne; step-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Nick and Zachary, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Brooklyn, Bonavista Bay on Friday, October 14, 2011 with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Brooklyn. In his memory donations may be made to Daffodil Place.

Whilimena Oldford

Passed suddenly away at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday October 11, 2011 Whilimena Oldford of Bunyan's Cove in her 68th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her partner Ray Hobbs, daughters: Wanda Little and husband Oliver of Bloomfield, Ruby Martin of Musgravetown, Mona Oldford and Glen Smith of Nova Scotia, Jacqueline Hayward and husband Billy of Bonavista, Shirlee Little and husband Barry of Bloomfield, Kim Tucker of Musgravetown; son: Craig and wife Sheila of Bonavista; Stepsons: Darrell Hobbs (Pam) of Lethbridge, Bradley Hobbs (Shirley) of Hermitage, Rodney Hobbs (Judy) of Port Rexton; Stepdaughters: Lisa Greening and husband Darryl of Bunyan's Cove, Christine Pickett and husband Randy of Wareham; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; Sisters: Ruth Clouter of Bunyan's Cove, Shirley Smith of Cannings Cove; brother Barry Penney of Alberta plus a large circle of other family and friends. Pre-deceased by first husband Doug in 2006; brothers: Wilf, Gerald, Alvin and Eric, sister Greta Pie. Funeral service was officiated by Pastor C. Harnum from Ecclesia Pentecostal Church Bunyan's Cove on Friday October 14, 2011 with interment following at the Bunyan's Cove Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were granddaughters: Teri Lynn Little, Jennifer Oldford; grandsons: Sheldon Martin, Tyson Little, Greg Little and Bryan Oldford. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home Shoal Harbour.

Lorne Penney

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Sunday, October 9, 2011 Lorne Penney of Clarenville aged 63 years. Predeceased by sisters Lorraine Greening, Catherine George, Dorett Adams and father Archibald Penney. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Alma of 42 years; daughter Lisa Sillanpaa (Jari) of Ontario; mother Annie Dove Penney of Lethbridge; sisters Jocelyn Humby of Morley's Siding, Rosalind Gallagher (David) of Ontario, Brenda Penney of Lethbridge, Patricia Penney (Larry Johnson) of Shoal Harbour, Georgina Greenslade (Shawn) of Foxtrap; brother Randy Penney (Audrey) of Ontario; two grandaughters Tiffany and Kristina and a large circle of relatives and friends. Remains rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral took place on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from the Pentecostal Church, Clarenville with interment at the Interdenominational cemetery in Clarenville. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon; parents, James and Dorothy Critch and brother, Cecil. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her partner, Robert Head; children, Nancy (Mike Worthington, Lenora (Kevin Avery) and Craig (Gail); stepchildren, Annette Head (Brian Batstone), Amanda Head (Randy Winter), Sean Head (Lynda) and Blair Head; grandchildren, Matthew Avery (Samantha Price), Kayla Avery, Melanie Barnes (Mitchell), Scott Barnes and Bradley Butt; step-grandchildren, Brianna and Madison Pynn and Keegan Head; great grandchildren, Joshua, Jay and Jack; sisters, Melvina (Stewart Eddy) and Christine (Norm Farrow); brothers, Walter Critch (Sheila) and Larry Critch (Patricia) and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at the Anglican Church, Hillview from where the funeral service took place on Monday, October 10, 2011 with interment following at the Anglican cemetery, North West Brook. Rodney Peddle
Passed on: October 8th, 2011
PEDDLE, Rodney
- Was tragically taken away from his loved ones. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are his parents Colene Peddle (Jeff) and Lawton Peddle; sister Danielle Strong (Robert); niece Chloe and nephew (Marcus); grandparents Marie and Eli Stringer; girlfriend Michelle Au; special friend Sarah Vincente; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rested at Brampton Memorial Gardens, Brampton Ontario. Funeral took place on Friday, October 14, 2011 from the Brampton Chapel. Memorial service took place at Salvation Army Church in Little Heart's Ease on October 16, 2011.
"Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Christopher Gregory Costello
Passed on: October 20th, 2011

Passed away suddenly at his residence in Shoal Harbour, Christopher Gregory Costello, age 56, retired employee of Clarenville Newfoundland Power. Chris was predeceased by his parents Gregory and Muriel Costello (nee Oldford). Leaving to mourn with the best of memories are his wife and best friend Margaret, and the light of his life, daughter Zoe. Also left to mourn: sisters Beverly and Jocelyn (Brian Walsh) and brother Gerry (Verna) and their families; father-in-law and mother-in-law Harry and Mary O'Gay; sisters-in-law Gail Sharpe, Denise Mifflin (Fred), Debby Fontyn (Frank) and Judith Malvern (Dean); brothers-in-law John O'Gay (Luisa), Brian O'Gay (Michelle) and Bob O'Gay (Lisa) and their families. Chris will be sadly missed by his large circle of relatives and friends, including his Newfoundland Power and Belize Electric buddies, and "da boys in "da band "Dis Is It." Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home in Clarenville. Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, October 24, 2011, from Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Clarenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris's memory may be made to the Clarenville and Area SPCA
