FRYE, Joseph
Passed peacefully away at home in Summerville, Bonavista Bay, September 10, 2000, Joseph Frye, retired teacher, aged seventy-nine years. Predeceased by loving son Danny. Lovingly remembered, but sadly missed by devoted wife Violet; children Marilyn Abbott (Job), Judy Madore (Ray), Sylvia Walsh (Phonse) and Christine O'Neill; cherished grandad of Melissa, Steven, Robert, Jamie, Mandy, Stephanie, Stacy and Lauren; also great-grandad of Noah and Tryeshawna. Joe leaves behind many good friends and relatives. Funeral took place at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Summerville on September 13.

WHITE, S. Maud
Passed peacefully away at Blundon's Personal Care Home, Hickman's Harbour, on Sunday September 10, 2000, Mrs. Maud White of Port Blandford, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Leonard, brother Eldon and special friend Lottia Pelley. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, her close family and friends. Rested at Alton United Church, Port Blandford. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 from Alton United Church, Port Blandford, with interment at the United Church Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the C.T Scanner Unit, Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

KEOUGH, Marie Frances (nee Kearney)
Passed peacefully away at St. Claire's Mercy Hospital, Tuesday, September 12, 2000, in the presence of her loving family, Marie Frances Keough of Plate Cove East, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by her husband James Dominic. Left with many loving memories ten children Kay McLoughlin (Gerry), Marg Punn (Gar), Bridgett Short (Doug), Vange Lane (Ed), Estella Appleby (Les), Michael (Maude), Frank (Joanne), Ann Marie Allen (Terry), Sharon Ivany (Rex), Whanita Hubley (Alvin); sister Bride Bartlett; and brother Ron Kearney. Thirty-one grandchildren Craig, Gerry, O'Shein and Leah McLoughlin, Robert Downey, Stephen Pynn, Tommy and Olivia Dunne, Tonya Lane McLellan, Stepahnie Lane Hart, Jason, Jeffrey and Nancy Lane, Christopher and Jonathan Prince, Michelle, Shawn and Michael Keough, Charla, Julia and Garry Keough, Vanessa White, Stephen and Terri Leigh Allen, Ed and Jon Hayden, Corey, Karen and Neil Ivany, Adam and Melanie Hubley; six great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her special friend Peter Keough, her very special nephew, John Murphy and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements provided by Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island. Rested at St. Patrick's Church, Plate Cove, Bonavista Bay. Funeral mass was held 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 15.

SCEVIOUR, Marie
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, September 14, 2000, Marie Sceviour of Clarenville, aged 48 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughter Heather, Clarenville; sons Darrell (Paula), St. John's; Dennis (Sharon), Shoal Harbour and Ian (Lori), Monroe; grandchildren Shane, Felicia, Shania, Natasha and Logan; brother Max Pitcher (Joan), Mount Pearl and a large number of relatives and friends. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service held on Sunday, September 17, 2000 from the Anglican Church, Burgoyne's Cove with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery.

SMITH, Levi
(age 85 years)
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at St. Claire's Mercy Hospital in St. John's Levi Smith of Clarenville, Trinity Bay. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Emily Jane of 61 years; two sons Winston (Karen) of Brampton, ON and Chesley (Debbie) of Fort McMurray, AB; three daughters Marie March (Jack) of St. John's, Blanche Hunt (Gordon) of Gander and Joan King (Wesley) of Fort McMurray, AB; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary Spurrell of Arnold's Cove and Nellie Hillier (Harold) of California; sisters and brothers-in-law Bartlett and Lydia Green of Hickman's Harbour, Hayward and Lizzie Seaward of Clarenville and Blanche and Jack Butler of St. John's; as well as many nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Pentecostal Church Building Fund or Gideon Bible Society. Arrangements entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Random Island.

WILLIAMS, John Charles
Passed peacefully away on September 15, 2000 John Charles Williams (Northcott) in his 76th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters Beatrice (Fong) Chan, Joan (Arthur) Jenkins and Lorraine (Gerald) Sceviour, sons Major Larry (Eileen) and John Jr. (Myrnel); brother Fred (Jennie) Northcott; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, also left to mourn Charlotte's family Geraldine, Maxine, Peggy, Betty, Lori and their families and a large circle of other family and friends. Captain Youden conducted funeral services from Salvation Army Church, Buchans on Monday, September 18, 2000. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

ANSTEY, Elizabeth
Passed peacefully away at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, Monday, September 18, 2000, Elizabeth Anstey of Catalina, aged 78 years. Predeceased by husband Ronald, September, 1984. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Emma Simmonds (Cecil), Canning's Cove; sons Stirling (Mandy), Norris Arm North, Jonas (Glenys), Brampton, ON and Ronald (Hilda), Sydney, Nova Scotia; eleven loving grandchildren Craig (Deanne), Corey and Stephanie Simmonds, Neil, Lee, Kimberley, Danielle, Kerri-Lynn, Jeannie, Brittany and Colin Anstey; one dearly loved great grandson Jordan Simmonds. She will also be dearly missed by her close neighbours and friends in Catalina and Canning's Cove, Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Wayne Short and Rev. Charles Lockhart, was held on Thursday, September 21, 2000 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Catalina. Interment at St. Paul's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strathies Funeral Home, Bonavista.

SMITH, Cyril M.
Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital on September 18, 2000 Cyril M. Smith of Weybridge, Random Island in his 75 year. Predeceased by parents, two brothers and two sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Mary; sons Ronald (Holly) of Smithers, BC, Henry (Catherine) and Stuart both of Quandra Island, BC; daughters Sharon and Carol (Brian) both of Ottawa; twelve grandchildren; sisters Laura (Bill), Alma (Tom) and Josephine; brothers Richard (Rose) and Bill; and a large circle of other family and friends. Rev. Cutler conducted funeral services from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville Thursday, September 21, 2000 with interment following at Interdenominational Cemetery, Clarenville. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

STACEY, Tyler
Passed away September 18, 2000 at the Janeway Children's Hospital, St. John's, following an accident in his home community, Tyler Stacey of Terrenceville. He was nine years old. Left to mourn are his Mom, Dad, Grandparents, uncles and aunts. Father Steve Murrin conducted funeral mass at the Roman Catholic Church in Terrenceville Friday, September 22. It was followed by cremation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to White Dove Funeral Homes, Marystown.

DOODY, William John
Died suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 William John Doody of Bonavista aged 61 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Mae Doody. Leaving to mourn wife Delores; daughters Carolin Vandenberg (Patrick), Ottawa, Joanne Laskoski (Brian), Ottawa, Colleen, San Diego, California and Maureen, Ottawa; grandson Nolan John Laskoski; sister Catherine Dusseault of Bonavista; a number of nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Sept. 25 at St. Joseph's Church, Bonavista. Funeral arrangements from Strathies Funeral Home, Bonavista. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

LETHBRIDGE, Chester
Passed peacefully away after a short illness, in the presence of his loving family on Monday, September 19, 2000 Chester Lethbridge, age 72 years. Predeceased by wife Margaret and daughter Susanna. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters Joyce (Cyril) Moore, children Holly and Michael; Annmarie (Tony) Wiseman, children Christina and Suzanne; son Peter (Gillian), children Ted (Loretta and mother Ruby) and Matthew (mother Kim); one great granddaughter Sabrina; brothers Phillip, Albert, Roy, Robert, William and Heber; sisters Carrie, Blanche, Lillian and Dorothy; caregiver Phillip Molker; also a large circle of other family and friends. Rev. Cutler conducted funeral services from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Clarenville on Saturday, September 23, 2000. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to a charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blundon's Funeral Home, Shoal Harbour.

SMITH, Percival (Pearce)
The death of Mr. Percival (Pearce) Smith of the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, husband of Sarah (Finn) Smith, occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 at his residence. Born in Hodge's Cove, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Abraham and Rhyma Jane (Vincent) Smith. Mr. Smith was a self-employed carpenter and contractor for many years, before his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Merchant Navy, and was a member of the Cirinthian Lodge F & AM, Hampton. Besides his wife, Sarah, he is survived by one son, Allan Smith (Clare) of Saint John, one daughter Elaine Daley (Stephen) of Quispamsis, one brother Chesley Smith of Hodge's Cove, NF, one sister Sue Short of Toronto; ON, four grandchildren Sara Dawn Smith, Erin Smith, Harry Daley and Anne Daley, several nieces and nephews. Rested at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Funeral service was held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000. Interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The Royal Canadian Legion held a tribute to a Veteran service on Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Corinthian Lodge Masonic Service.

SMART Clarice
We announce the passing of our devoted Mother and Grandmother, CLARICE (OLDFORD) SMART, at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000 age 88 years. We say good-bye to a warm and loving friend, who always thought of others before herself. Predeceased by our Dad (Leslie) 1992, son Gordon 1958, sister Violet (Oldford) Lethbridge 1989, brothers Hubert Oldford 1980 and Frank Oldford 1998. She will be dearly missed by her three children: son Wilson (Marion) Smart, Mount Pearl; daughters Violet (Cyril) Dawe, Corner Brook and Lilly (Jim) Forward, Goulds; four grandchildren: Blaine, Bradley, and Blair Smart and Mark Dawe; one brother Elias Oldford, Musgravetown; sisters-in-law Sophie Oldford, Musgravetown; Myra Oldford, St. John's; Isabel (Smart) Gregg, Bay Roberts; Muriel (Tim) Savell, Ontario, and Dove (Smart) Welch, Ontario; brothers-in-law Bond (Reta) Smart, Bay Roberts; Frank (Elizabeth) Smart, Bay Roberts; and Wilson Smart, British Columbia; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and staff of Agnes Pratt Home. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Visitation took place Thursday, Sept, 28, Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30. Funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 30 from Memorial United Church, Lethbridge with Interment at United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
Mom: You were a beautiful person in every way that a mother could be to her family, as well as one true friend. You left us so many memories we will treasure forever. We will never erase you from our hearts. God willing we will meet again.
Lord put your arms around her
And keep her in your care
Make up for all she suffered
And all that seemed unfair.

HART, Rosie
(age 83 years)

Passed away peacefully at the Hoyles Home, St. John's Rosie Hart of Lady Cove, Random Island. Leaving to mourn many daughters and sons, Shirley Hammer, Bob Hart (Dorothy), Arch Hart (Shirley), Yvonne Jubinville, Gary Hart (Velma), Edwin Hart (Edna), Maxine Drysdale, Maxwell Hart, Berniece Eastman (Walter), Diane Hart, Leroy Hart, Don Hart (Norma). Also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rev. Bent conducted services from the United Church, Lady Cove on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour.
