Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on November 29, 2007, Anne Arsenault of Summerside, PEI in her 66th year. Leaving to mourn: her loving daughter Suzanne (Chris Botsifaras) of Toronto, ON; sisters Delphine (Robert Lymburner); Elizabeth (Leo Hynes) of Little Bay, NL. Granddaughter Katie, special friend - Margaret at Summerside, PEI and a large circle of relatives and friends. predeceased by parents Alyre and Phyllis Arsenault and sister Carol. BOND, Levi Henry
Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on November 6, 2007, Levi Henry Bond of Frenchman’s Cove in his 90th year. Leaving to mourn his loving son Frank (wife Minnie) of Frenchman’s Cove, daughter Eva (husband Paul Barrie) of Frenchman’s Cove, step sons Nelson keeping (wife Brenda) of Alberta and Vaden Keeping of Frenchman’s Cove, step daughters Maud (husband Philip Thornhill) of Fortune, Mary (husband Eugene King) of Creston north, Lynn (husband Verd Perham) of Fortune, Edna (husband Earl Hodder) of Creston north, Joshie (husband Dave Hooper) of Creston South and Tammy Keeping of Creston South. 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Brother Felix Bond, wife Violet from Fortune, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by wife Doris, brothers and sisters and stepson Arthur. Donations in his memory to the Frenchman’s Cove United Church. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Lewis Crewe at United Church, Frenchman’s Cove on November 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at United Church Cemetery, Frenchman’s Cove. BYRD, Mary Magdelyn
Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on November 8, 2007, Mary Magdelyn Byrd of English Harbour East in her 77th year. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Robert; sons Calvin of English Harbour East, Fred (wife Loretta) of English Harbour East and Stanley of English Harbour East; daughters Dorothy (husband Gordon Evans) of English Harbour East and Daphne (husband Andrew) of English harbour East; mother Mary J. Coombs at Blue Crest Interfaith home, Grand Bank; brother Michael of Terrenceville; sister Alice McCarthy of Terrenceville; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by son Robert, daughter-in-law Violet and granddaughter Mary Byrd. Funeral service was conducted by Father Stephen Courtney at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, English Harbour East on November 12th at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at Roman Catholic Cemetery, English Harbour East. Passed suddenly away at Terrenceville Sunday, November 24, 2007, Peggy Ann Clarke of Terrenceville in her 20th year. Predeceased by grandfather William Clarke, great-grandparents Mary Alice Hackett and John Samuel Hackett. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Mom Theresa and Dad William; grandparents Catherine and Henry Lavhey; grandmother Bridget Clarke; sisters Corina Mary (Colin) Mitchell of Terrenceville and Katie Lee (Travis) of Terrenceville; brother Brandon of Terrenceville and special nephew, Tye, plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral Mass took place at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church in Terrenceville Wednesday, November 28th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at St. .Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Terrenceville. YOUNG WOMAN DIES IN COLLISION

A 20-year-old Terrenceville woman has been identified as the victim of a car-tractor trailer truck accident in that community November 24. Burin Peninsula District RCMP said Peggy Ann Clarke died in the collision when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with the parked truck around 1 a.m. Both vehicles then burst into flames. The male driver of the car was taken to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin and then transferred to the Health Science Centre in St. John's in serious condition. Police, volunteer fire departments from Terrenceville and Grand le Pierre and local ambulance service all responded to the accident. An investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing. The RCMP reported there have been 30 fatal motor vehicles collisions this year in Newfoundland and Labrador.

DOUGLAS (Fred) A.
(April 15, 1930 – November 10, 2007)

Passed peacefully away on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in the presence of his family, Frederick (Fred) Douglas of Grand Bank, age 77. Predeceased by son Wayne and daughter Marlie. He leaves to mourn, wife, Martha, son Frank (Cora), Grand Bank and daughter Maxine (Michael) Flynn, Chapel’s Cove. Grandchildren, Lori, Sheri, Jennifer, Michael, Jessica and Emilie. Great-grandchildren Coady, Jordyn and Mason. Brother, John Douglas, sisters Georgie (Maude) Thorne and Blanche Pike, also a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Majors Frank and Rita Pittman from the Salvation Army, Grand Bank on Tuesday, November 13th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Music was provided by David Noseworthy and Herbert Dunford. Pall bearers were: Stephen Douglas, Michael Flynn, Robb Bungay, Charlie Prior, Douglas Jones and George Thorne. Donations in his memory may be made to Daffodil place. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren’s Funeral Home, Grand Bank; "Where Dedicated People Care.”

FARRELL, Michael Joseph
Passed peacefully away at the Burin peninsula Health Care Centre Wednesday, November 21, 2007, Michael Joseph Farrell of Marystown in his 73rd year. Predeceased by wife Mary, sisters Catherine and Mary and brother George. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories five nephews and eight nieces, plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral Mass took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in Marystown, Saturday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery. Passed suddenly away at his residence on Thursday, November 15, 2007, Cyril George Follett of Marystown in his 61st year. Predeceased by mother Sadie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife Judy; son Bruce (Carolyn) of Churchill Falls; daughter Bonnie (Damey) Kyritsis of Gander; sister Dorothy (Victor) Rose; brother Hughie (Jeanette) Follett. Three grandchildren Robyn, Matthew and Christian; father John; niece Dana; mother-in-law Margaret Soper and father-in-law Edward Soper (Ted). Plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary, sisters Elizabeth and Josephine, and brothers Daniel and John. Passed peacefully away at the St. Lawrence U.S. Memorial HealthCare Centre, Friday, November 2, 2007, Sarah Mary Jarvis of Lawn in her 86th year. Predeceased by mother Elizabeth; father Joseph; sisters Susan Fitzpatrick, Josephine Lambert, Rebecca Lockyer, Nellie Quirke, Shannie Lockyer and Loretta Edwards; brothers James Jarvis, Valentine Jarvis and Adolph Jarvis. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Monday, November 19, 2007, William Joseph Power of Marystown in his 78th year. Predeceased by wife Almedia; five brothers and three sisters. leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Bill (Pam) of Marystown; Leo of Fort McMurray, Alberta; Gerald (Michelle) of Toronto, Ontario; and Dennis (Nikki) of Fort McMurray; daughters Marie (Gary) Stevenson of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Kate (Clyde) Bonnell of Marystown; Judy (Jeff) Skyberg of Marystown; Elaine (Melvin) Brinston of Marystown and Shirley of Fort McMurray. ROBERTS, Doyle Clayton
Originally of Grand Falls, passed peacefully away November 13, age 77. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; and precious daughter, Kathryn. Leaving to forever cherish his life with them are daughters, Carol (John) and Nancy (Shane); son, Michael (Alana); sisters, Bernice (Gerald) and Barbara (Calvin); sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marie; and grandchildren, Kerstin, Heidi, John, Benjamin, Hayley, Zackary, Jennifer and Jacob who loved their “Gramps” beyond all earthly measure. The family would like to thank all friends, especially Kirby and Pastor Murley, and Dr. St. Croix and all staff of the Gander Cancer Clinic for their kindness and support. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on Friday, November 16, 2007, Richard J. Strickland of Point May age 70 years. Predeceased by parents Henry and Catherine Strickland, wife Theresa and sister Ellen. He leaves to mourn: 4 brothers, Henry Strickland and Nancy at Point May; Joseph Strickland at Marystown; Gordon Strickland (Mary) at Point May and Albert Strickland at Point May. WALTERS, Rebecca
(August 22, 1905 – November 10, 2007)

Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home Grand Bank on Saturday, November 10, 2007 Rebecca Walters, formerly of Bay L’argent, age 102 years. Predeceased by parent John and Sarah Pope; daughter Lillian; sons Charlie, Maxwell and William John; and step-son Russell Walters. She leaves to mourn: 2 daughters Elsie Burton at Grand Bank and Janie Dodge at Harbour Mille; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren, step son Stanley Walters at Grand Bank, also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Tim Graham from Saint Alban’s Anglican Church, Grand Bank on Monday, November 12th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Saint Alban’s Anglican Cemetery, Grand Bank. Organist was Velma Stewart. Pall bearers were; Harold Burton, Tom Burton, Edwin Walters, Randy Walters, Brian Dodge and Alphonsus dodge. Donations in her memory may be made to the Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank or to Saint Alban’s Anglican Cemetery Fund, Grand Bank.
