Predeceased by Theodosia, his wife of 70 years. Leaving to mourn son Jim (Lorraine); grandsons: Roger (Elaine), Raymond (Beverley); granddaughter Bev; great-granddaughters: Brittney and Alicia; sister Effie Brown, N.B.; sisters-in-law: Mary Laite, St. John`s and Annabelle Kelly, Clarkes Beach; also many nieces and nephews. Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family, at the Health Sciences Centre, on Tuesday, September 16, 2003, Hayward Legge of Whiteway, aged 60 years. Predeceased by father Hayward, 1980. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 40 years, Neta; five children: Stephen (Alberta), Rodney (Joanne), Kathy (Kevin), Brian (Pam) and Nancy; daughter-in-law Darlene; four grandsons: Shane, Jeremy, Dylan and Jordan; two granddaughters: Alexis and Keshia; his loving mother, Elsie; seven sisters: Ada Butt (Gerald), Phyllis Penney (Ray), Patricia Butt (Howard), Shirley Chislett (Willoughby), Marion Chislett (Sam); Alma Higdon (Don), Rhoda Piercey (Ches); one brother Ron (Myrtle); two sisters-in-law: Clara George (James), Elizabeth Reid (John); five brothers-in-law: Charles Williams (Mary), Lawrence Williams (Stella), Pleamon Williams (Linda), Wilson Williams, Ches (Elsie); also lovingly remembered by a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Member of the Masonic Lodge, Heart`s Content, S.U.F. of Winterton and Trinity United Church Choir, Winerton. Leaving to mourn his beloved wife Helen, one son Tommy and daughter-in-law Carol-Ann, Bay Roberts. One granddaughter Natasha in Alberta, Mother Mrs. Nellie John in New Jersey. Two sisters Catherine Sergent (Lester), New Jersey and Mary Ann O`Donnel (Frank), Florida. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. MERCER, Melvin, Retired RNC Sergeant, amateur radio operator VOIFR - Passed peacefully away on November 29, 2003, in the presence of family and friends, Melvin Mercer, Mt. Pearl, age 61 years. Predeceased by wife Fiona, September 1998, and parents Ken and Minnie Mercer. Left with loving memories daughters Michelle (Joe), Karen (Brian); cherished granddaughters Sarah, Julia and Abigail; very special friend Vi Cronin and daughter Tracey; brothers Clarence (Shelagh), Wayne (Brenda); brothers-in-law Tom (Fran), Norman (Chris), Max; sisters-in-law Alvina, Hannah (Dave), Betty (Cliff), Kate. MORGAN, Margaret G. (nee Parsons) - With dignity and a brave, courageous four year battle with cancer, surrounded by her three daughters, Margaret G. Morgan, St. John`s, passed peacefully away, in her 74th year, at the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. L.A. Miller Center, on Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Predeceased by her parents Ivy and Andrew Parsons, Lushes Bight, NL; sisters: Effie Lee, Sacramento, Calif. and Velma Vardy, Clarenville. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Carole Anne Tipton, Deer Lake, Gayle King (Carl), St. John`s and Susan Morgan, Pitt Meadows, B.C.; beloved grandchildren: Paul Mercer, St. John`s, Jennifer Mercer, Toronto and David Tipton, Paradise; sister Verd Marquardt, Wisconsin, USA; brother-in-law Clarence Vardy, Clarenville, also a large number of cousins and other special friends and relatives too numerous to mention. A special thank you to Dr. Bill Eaton, his team and the wonderful nurses, volunteers and caring staff of the Palliative Care unit. The kindness and sincerity of Sister Eileen and Pastoral Care will always be remembered. Upon Margaret`s request, cremation has taken place. Predeceased by her husband, James, in 1967; her daughter, Iris, in 1976; and her sister, Ivy Wall, and brother, Austin Wall. (Heddy) in St. John`s; Ray (Justine) in Nova Scotia; Ruby Butler (Byron, deceased) in Windsor, Ontario; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. PELLEY, Thelma - Miss Emily Thelma Pelley, age 94, of Riviera Retirement Lodge, Caledonia, and formerly of Stratford passed away peacefully at the West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on Tuesday, May 13, 2003. Born in George`s Brook, NL, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Catherine Pelley. In 1944 she graduated from Toronto Western Hospital as an RN and nursed in St. John`s, Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Toronto coming to Stratford in 1964 where she nursed until her retirement. Thelma had also graduated from Memorial University, NL with her BA and from Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo in 1981 with her Master of Divinity. She was a member of Grace United Church, Caledonia and a former member of Central United Church, Stratford. She was a member of the Toronto University School of Nursing. She is survived by a sister, Joan Andrews, George`s Brook, NL and many nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Baxter, Harry, William and Johnston, and sisters Ellie and Jean. At Thelma`s request burial will be in George`s Brook, NL.
