LAMBERT, Florence G. - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, October 22, 1998, Florence G. Lambert of Hillview, aged 80 years. Predeceased by husband Edmund A. Lambert in 1982. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are one son Gordon Lambert (Lorna); two daughters Alma (Gordon Loder) and Elsie (Winston Hillyard); five grandchildren Hiliary, Marlean, Glenda, Nevin and Donita; five great-grandchildren Hiliary Jr., Jenelle, Shanon, Khiya and Matheau; sisters Marjorie (William Baker), St. John`s, Mary (Cecil Critch), Kirkfield, ON and Edna (Chesley Pittman), Gander; one brother Roy Stoyles (Iris), Glenwood; two sisters-in-law Ollie Vey, Hillview and Mary Avery, Deep Bight, also a large circle of other relatives and friends. LANE, Josephine - Passed peacefully away on November 2, 1998 at the J.P.M. Hospital, Gander. Josephine Lane, age 70 years, of Trinity. Predeceased by parents: Stewart and Caroline; and brother Eli Victor Rogers. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, husband Malcolm; 2 sons: Barry (Shirley), Paradise and Stewart, Trinity; 3 daughters: Delores (Paul Thompson), Hare Bay, Bernice Ann Lane, Trinity, Margaret (Freeman Rogers), Scarborough, Ont.; 2 sisters: Phyllis (Tom Cutler), Centreville, Mae Morris, Trinity; 5 grandchildren: Jody Lane, Gregory Lane, Ronald James Thompson, Natasha Rogers and Matthew Rogers; 1 great-grandchild Devin; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husbands: Stan Lawlor (1974) and Ovila Lapointe (1944). Leaving to mourn one son Frank Lapointe, St. Michael`s; one daughter Mary Lawlor-Richards (David), Unionville, Ont.; also other relatives and friends especially Theresa Joyce. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home 7-10 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Funeral on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at St. Kevin`s Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow in St. Kevin`s Cemetery, Goulds. MARTIN, Eliza - Passed peacefully away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, July 20, 1998, Mrs. Eliza Martin of Heart`s Content, aged 68 years. Leaving to mourn husband Eric, Heart`s Content; daughter July Chislett (David), St. John`s; one grandson Jason; one brother Benjamin Taylor (Susie), Cupids; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. At Mrs. Martin`s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mary`s Anglican Cemetery. PARSONS, Vernon F. W. - 78 years. Passed away at James Paton Memorial Hospital Sunday, December 13, 1998. Vernon was a native of Catalina, NF, and a WWII Veteran of RCAF Bomber Command. Predeceased by son Gordon, 1993. Vernon leaves to mourn his wife, Melvie (House); son, Ronald (Lindy), Australia; daughter-in-law, Meredith Hutchins, Halifax, N.S.; grandchildren: Benjamin, Matthew, Marlee, and Samuel; brothers: Melvin (Eva), Glovertown, NF, Irving (Geraldine), and Austin (Maria), of Boston, Mass.; sister, Eileen (Svend) of New York; several relatives and friends. The remains are being cremated for inurnment later. POWELL, Calvin G. - Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family, at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John`s on Saturday, September 26,1998, Calvin G. Powell of Carbonear, age 72 years. Beloved husband of Maude (nee Neil, Spaniard`s Bay); loving father of Donna Bernard and friend Bill Corvers of Louisiana, USA and Dr. Calvin Powell and wife Doris (nee Smith, Spaniard`s Bay) of Shearstown. He was also proud grandfather of Neil Bernard, Michael and Rebecca Powell. Sadly missed by his brother Lloyd Powell and wife Ada, Ontario and sisters: Gladys Butt, Massachusetts, USA, Nellie Decker, Ontario, Isabelle Harnum and her husband Wendell, Heart`s Delight, Emily Stoodley and her husband Roy, Grand Falls-Windsor and Cairine Woodman and her husband Fred, New Harbour; sister-in-law Elsie Powell, St. John`s; and missed by a large number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by brother Clarence and sisters: Daphne and Margaret. Calvin learned his trade as a machinist/millwright with the Newfoundland Railway and then spent over 40 years in this position with Saunders Howell Co. in Carbonear. He was a enthusiastic reader, fisherman, hunter, conservationist and gardener. During retirement he pursued these activities with vigour as well as devoting much of his time to his grandchildren. He had in life a deep Christian faith, love of family, loyalty to friends, a strong work-ethic, commitment to his community and a strong generosity to whomever was in need. Resting at Noel`s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear until 12 noon Tuesday, September 29. A service celebrating Calvin`s life will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 2 p.m. from Bethany United Church and Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Trinity Conception Placentia Health Foundation. Visitation hours at Noel`s Funeral Home are 10:30 a.m.-12 noon, 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. daily.

PRETTY, Donald Sr. - Passed away suddenly at the Dr. W.H. Newhook Community Health Centre on Friday, October 30, 1998, Donald Pretty of Dildo, age 59 years. Leaving to mourn wife Edith, sons: Donnie (Gail), Dildo, Greg (Lisa), Grand Praire, Alta, Paul (Tracey), Dildo; daughters: Gloria Pitcher (Jerry), Elaine, Dildo; grandchildren: Debbie, Lesley, Ashley, Brian, Tracey, Sheldon and Robyn; father Leonard Pretty, Whitbourne; four brothers: Aiden (Penny), Harold, Kevin (Betty), Derek (Beulah), Whitbourne; five sisters: Shirley Rose (Clarence), Toronto, Ont, Nadine Holt (Calvin), Ont., Marg George, Whitbourne, Pat Thorne (Adolphus), New Harbour, Cynthia Barrett (Mike), Whitbourne; sister-in-law Jean Pretty, Whitbourne; also lovingly remembered by a large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Resting at Warren`s Funeral Home, Dildo. Funeral service to be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Dildo, New Harbour on Monday, November 2, 1998 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. No flowers by request of the family, donations in his memory may be made to the Donald Pretty Memorial Fund or a charity of one`s choice.
