CANTWELL, - CAMARDO, Mary Philomenia (Kavanagh) - Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at South Pasadena, Florida, Mary Philomenia Kavanagh formerly of Bell Island & St. John`s. Predeceased by Clifford Cantwell 1995. Leaving to mourn her husband Angelo Joseph Camardo, South Pasadena, Florida, her son Wayne (Patricia) Cantwell, St. John`s, daughters: Sharon (Carlson) Driscoll, St. John`s & Carla (Garry) Thoms, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also sisters: Madelaine Parsons, North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Elizabeth Fitzgerald & Kathleen Hawco both of Ontario and a large number of family and friends. A Catholic service followed by cremation will take place from Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, Florida. A Memorial Service will be arranged in St. John`s by the family & details will be announced at a later date. In her memory contributions may be made to the Alzheimer`s Society or a charity of one`s choice.

COLE, Leonard - Passed away at Toronto on December 24, 1999, age 72 years, formerly of Bell Island. Leaving to mourn five sisters: Bride Noftal (Roy), Kingston, Ontario, Marjorie O`Mara (Frank), Huntsville, Ontario, Shirley Seward, B.C., Dorothy, Mount Pearl, Cecila, Mount Pearl; two brothers: Fred and Samuel, both at Mount Pearl. Cremation took place in Toronto. A Memorial Mass with the cremains will be celebrated at St. Michael`s Church, Bell Island on Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bell Island.

DAWE, Jim (Ralph James) - Passed away in his 54th year at the Leonard A. Miller Centre in St. John`s on April 6, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with the devastation of Type I diabetes, Jim (Ralph James) Dawe. Predeceased by his father, Maxwell Dawe, and baby son, Jason. He will be sadly missed as a gentle, loving and considerate husband, by his wife, Doris Collins-Dawe; as a loving father and grandfather by his daughters, Gillian Dawe and granddaughter Sarah, and Andrea Janes (Chris) and granddaughter Hilary; by Doris` two daughters, Yvette Moore and Wendy Moore, whom he helped raise and treated as his own; by his mother Minnie Dawe (Eddie); his sisters Grace Crosbie (Bill), Linda Murphy (Mike), and Marcella Paynter (John) and their families; by special cousins Lorraine Morgan (Dave), Seal Cove and Mary McKinley (Phil), New Hampshire and their families; by brother-in-law Thomas Collins (Theresa), Placentia; and sister-in-law Mary Walsh (Fred), Torbay, and their families; and by friends and relatives in Canada and the U.S. Special mention to Lorne and Gert King for their continued friendship and support. Jim left work on disability in 1993 and was eligible to retire after thirty years as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Memorial University, where he touched the lives of and was well liked and respected by numerous young people as they prepared to start their careers in the world of computer science. Jim was, at different periods of his life, an active member of the Lions Clubs of Mount Pearl, Pouch Cove (thanks to Clayton and Evelyn King for helping make us welcome when we lived in Pouch Cove), and Conception Bay South. He was also a member of several professional organizations, including DPMA and DECUS, and was always ready and anxious to join in and take the lead whenever the opportunity presented itself. Resting at James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation on Friday, April 7, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; and Sunday, April 9, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. FARRELL, Benedict S. - Passed peacefully away at his home in Foxtrap surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 9, 2000, aged 91 years, formerly of Bell Island. Predeceased by his loving wife Marie, December 1998. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his six children: Edward (Marg), Manuels, Rosemarie Byrne (Patrick, Cambridge, Ont., Kevin (Judy), Chamberlains, Cynthia Stoyles (Greg), Cambridge, Ont., Alice, Foxtrap, with whom he resided, Brian (Bonnie), Cambridge, Ont.; 3 granddaughters, 11 grandsons, 23 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Patrick Hurley (Betty), New York; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her daughter Jaqueline, Ann, June 1974; her mother Agnes Hepditch, 1963; her father Patrick Hepditch, 1995; her brothers: William, 1999; Ron, 1987 and Patty, 1966. Left with fond and loving memories are her devoted husband of 26 years, Kenneth; her three loving daughters: Corinne, Kelly and Amy; her step-mother Genevieve, Holyrood; her mother and father-in-law: Mary Helen and Raymond Fewer; her brother Anthony (Caroline), St. John`s, Leo, St. George`s, Edward, St. John`s, Randy and Patrick, both in Toronto; her sisters: Madonna Myers (Brian), Edmonton, Agnes, Regina and Jenny, all in Holyrood, Cindy Hatcher (Robert), Nova Scotia; her mother and father-in-law: Mary Helen and Raymond Fewer, her sister-in-law Lisa Fewer, all in Holyrood; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. LAURIE, Louis Joseph - (Born January 14, 1933). Passed peacefully away at St. Phillips, NF., on April 20, 2000, at 3:30 a.m., following a courageous fight for several years with kidney disease. Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Rose Laurie (nee Ryan); sisters Annie Laurie and Mary Cole. He leaves to mourn after him his daughter Rose Mary Noftall; two grandchildren: Stephanie and Brendan; four brothers: Edward, Herbert, James and Gerald (Dorothy); one sister Bride Carroll (Bernard), many nephews and nieces including special nephew Thomas Cole; cousins and other relatives and friends. ROUSE, Brenda Marie (nee Sharpe/ Snow) - September 14, 1945 - April 16, 2000. Passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Health Sciences Center on April 16, 2000. Predeceased by parents John and Elsie Sharpe; brother Harvey Sharpe; and first husband Derek H. Snow. She leaves to mourn her devoted and loving husband David Rouse. The light and pride of her life, her children: Carl Snow (Cathy), Greg Snow (girlfriend Janice Pike and her children, Tiffany and Jesse). Loving grandmother to Derek Edward Snow. Dear sister of Leo Sharpe (predeceased by Ethel), Victor Sharpe (Olive), Jean Tucker (Austin), Gerald Sharpe (Doreen), Ven. John T. Sharpe (Cynthia), Hilda Clarke (Les Squires), Raymond (Alice), Edward (Jill); sister-in-law Mary Sharpe Tucker; brother-in-law Darrell Rouse (Brenda Peddle); many dear nieces, nephews and other relatives. Many special dear friends, especially, long and devoted friend Janice Woolridge; also her many friends and co-workers at Royal Bank Group. Cremation has already taken place. Leaving to mourn 3 sons: Jerome (Joan), his special caregivers with whom he resided, Wilfred (Eileen), Chapels Cove and Kenneth (Val), Vancouver; 3 daughters: Gloria (Cecil Miller), Mt. Pearl, Anne (George Jenkinson), NS and Linda Hickey, Mt. Pearl; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Jack; and 4 sisters: Mary, Anna, Jean and Cathy; special friends: Calvin and Evelyn Russell and their families; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass on Tuesday, April 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne`s Church, Conception Harbour. Interment to follow at St. Anne`s Cemetery, Conception Harbour.
