On April 8th, 2001 at 5:16 am John and Nadine (Drover) of St. John's welcomed their first child, Jacob John, weighing 5 lbs. 10 ozs. His early arrival surprised his grandparents, Ralph and June Drover, Gren Adams and Elizabeth Andrieux, who were out of the country. We would like to thank Dr. Pike, Dr. Roche, Dr. Butler and the nursing staff of 5NB. Special thanks to nurse Annette Coates, family and friends.

Ball / Bugge
Very proud parents Ken and Marlise (nee Bugge) are delighted in welcoming to the world the safe arrival of their second precious little sweetie Alia Jane. Big sister Carlie is VERY proud too! Alia was sent from heaven at 5:45 am on Saturday, April 7th, 2001 (The day the All-time snowfall record was broken!), weighing a healthy 7 lbs. 15 ozs.. Proud grandparents are Wallace and Jean Ball of Mount Pearl and Eric Bugge (Janet) of St. John's. A precious new great-granddaughter for Mrs. Maisy Rowsell of Springdale and a beautiful new little niece for Aunts Kathie and Ericka, Uncles Keith (Susan) and David (Frankie). Special thanks to the caseroom nurses and Drs. Halley, Roche, Power and Kravitz for lending us their special talents. Daddy loves and thanks Mommy for her tremendous strength, her never-ending love and her knack for textbook deliveries. Mommy would like to send love, hugs, kisses and special thank you to Daddy for his love and expert coaching skills; we couldn't have done it without him. Our tiny little angel is loved so much by so many. God watch over us all.

Barry and Paula (Critch) are overjoyed to announce the safe arrival of Dylan Liam, born on Sunday, April 22nd, 2001, weighing 7 lbs. 6 ozs. Proud grandparents are Ralph and Madonna Critch of Mall Bay, S.M.B., and Gerry and Helen Boland of Outer Cove. Steve and Tracy (Fitzgerald) are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of their first child, a healthy baby girl, Rebecca Mae, born at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on April 27th, 2001, at 6:18 am., weighing 8 lbs. 13 ozs. This is the first grandchild for Frank and Barb Fitzgerald of Topsail and fifth grandchild for Dave and Peg Butler of St. John's.

Dale and Barbara (Cole) are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of their first child, Victoria Louise, born at the HSC on April 10th, 2001, weighing 8 lbs. 5 ozs. Proud grandparents are Linda Butt of Carbonear and Clarence and Daphne Cole of Norman's Cove and special great-grandma Nan, Beatrice Penney of Western Bay. Thanks to Drs. Oh Boy, Oh Boy! IT'S A GIRL! Cassandra Lynn Careen

Ricky and Christine (nee Coombs) are thrilled to announce the arrival of their precious son, Nathan Dermot, at HSC on April 13th, 2001, at 6:17 am., weighing 6 lbs. 15 ozs. A Belated Birthday Gift for Dad! A Birthday Gift for Poppy Cronin! Born April 9th, 2001, at 10:43 pm at Carbonear General Hospital, Luke Darrell Gerard, weighing in at 7 lbs. 1 ½ ozs., a little brother for Kyle. Parents Keith and Darlene, would like to thank Dr. Linda Ivany for her prenatal care, Dr. Pierce DuPlessis and Dr. Nico Marais for their professional care while at the hospital and also the nurses on the 5th floor for their services and care. Proud grandparents are Frank and Helen Cronin of Kelligrews-their fifth grandchild- and Winston and Lena Smith at Bishop's Cove-their third grandchild. Many thanks to family and friends who brought gifts and for being there during this glorious occasion.

Our precious little boy is here! Penne (Ryall) and Ken are thrilled to announce the joyous and miraculous birth of our first child, Jacob Gerard, born at the Health Sciences Center on April 24th, 2001 at 9:33 am, weighing 8 lbs. Jacob has some very proud grandparents that he would like to spend lots of time with; Ray and Theresa Ryall and John and Gladys Dyer. A sincere thank you to Dr. Patricia Roche for her continued support and guidance thoughout Mommy's pregnancy, as well as to Dr. Bartellas for ensuring Jacob's safe arrival. Edwards / Kirkland
Hi, my name is Anna Victoria. I arrived into this world on April 24th, 2001, at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center. My arrival was two weeks late, which allowed me to put on a few extra pounds. I weighed in at a healthy 9 lbs. My very proud Mommy and Daddy are Scott and Kimberly Edwards. Life has blessed me with four wonderful grandparents; Bernard and Janet Edwards of Marystown, and Robert and Joan Kirkland of St. John's. I am also lucky to have three great-grandparents; Josephine Kirkland, and Joseph and Blanche Edwards. Mommy, Daddy and I would like to thank Dr. Power, Dr. Arthur and Dr. Grobler for their excellent care. A special thank you to the OBS nurses, especially Lillian and Mabel for their help and encouragement during labour and delivery. Mommy and I would like to thank Daddy for his love and support during pregnancy. Look-out Daddy…..now there are two girls in your life who were born to shop! "A girl's gotta have clothes!"

John and Ethel Ann (McGrath) are so happy to welcome their first child, Julian Gerald, to the world. Born on April 9th, 2001 at 2:23 pm., weighing 8 lbs. 1 oz.. The arrival was especially enjoyed by grandmothers, Hannah McGrath and Loretta Edwards, numerous aunts, uncles, cousin and a large group of friends. Smiling from Heaven are grandfathers Gerald McGrath and Julian Edwards. Sincere gratitude is extended to everyone for all their love and support while waiting for Julian Gerald. On April 2nd, 2001 at 6:39 pm.. Todd and Joanne welcomed with open arms their first child, Ally Joanne, weighing 10 lbs. 2 ¼ ozs. Proud grandparents are Abraham and Josephine Jensen and William and Audrey Engram of Hermitage, Newfoundland. Mark and Heather (Lynch) joyously announce the arrival of a daughter, Emma Catherine, born April 1st, 2001 at Women's College Hospital in Toronto. Celebrating this event in St. John's are grandparents Tony and Kate Evans and Paul and Kathleen Lynch and Anne Lynch, who is Emma's great-grandmother.

On April 1st, 2001 at 1:02 am (daylight savings time), Kim Todd and David Finn welcomed their son, Owen Harvey Clark Finn. Owen is Kate's, 9 lbs 4 oz., baby brother. The third grandchild for Nina Todd (St. John's) and fifth for Bill Finn (Grand Falls). Late grandparents Clark Todd and Bernice Finn would be proud.
