BASTOW - And then there were three! David, Kimberly, big sister Katie and big brother Jonathan are delighted to announce the birth of Matthew Randell Bastow. Matthew was born at 9:35 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Women’s Health Centre in St. John’s, weighing in at 6 lbs. 11 oz. Proud grandparents are Randy & Marilyn Mercer (Paradise) and David & Isabel Bastow (Paradise). Also celebrating are great-grandparents Nelson and Rose Murphy (Paradise) and Ruby Mercer (Conception Bay South), as well as a large circle of family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Mercer, all the caseroom staff (I’m sure we met all of you), Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit, NICU and the staff of 5NB. An extra special thank you is extended to Dr. Cherry Pike. No words can express our sincere thanks for the extraordinary care you provided to ensure Matthew’s safe arrival.

COLE- It’s a girl! Gabriel and Madeline (nee Careen) and big brothers Liam and Noah are proud to announce the arrival of Gabriella Caroline on February 16, 2007. Also welcoming her are proud grandparents Donald and Patricia Cole and Gertie Careen. Watching over her from heaven is her poppy Allan Careen.

COLE- Donna, Jason and big sister Claire are trilled to announce the arrival of Ian Patrick on February 19, 2007 at 9:44 p.m., weighing 7 lbs, 2 oz. Proud grandparents are Anthony and Margaret Doyle (Marystown); Mark and Cynthia Cole (Victoria), and great-nanny, Madonna Doyle. Special thanks to Dr. Healey, Dr. O'Grady and their teams; as well as the staff of the caseroom, 5NB, and the Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit.

CROFT/MANUEL - Scottie has a new football buddy! Scot and Jennifer (Manuel) are overjoyed to announce the arrival of their first child, Parker Charles Woodrow, born on Superbowl Sunday, February 4th, 2007, at the WHC weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz. Also welcoming Parker are first time grandparents Clarence and Marilyn Croft (Goulds) and Wayne and Paulette Manuel (Kelligrews), great-grandparents Harold and Margaret Manuel (Lewisporte) and Lavenia and the late Woodrow Hillier (Campbellton). Parker will be spoiled by his aunts Heather (Bryan) and Lisa (Brian). A special thank you to Dr. Verge and the doctors and nurses at WHC, especially nurse Lisa Patten. Keeping Parker safe from above are great Nanny and Poppy Croft (Aquaforte) and great Nanny and Poppy Rose (Renews).

DOWNS - Christopher and Alisha Downs are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, a precious beautiful son, Nate Christopher, born at the WHC in St. John's on Feb. 24th, 2007 at 8:56 pm weighing 8.7 pounds. Welcoming Nate with lots of love are proud grandparents Willie and Alvina Budgell of Wabush, Labrador and Shane and Jennifer Downs of St. John's. Also welcomed by great-grandmothers Sybil Howell Pardy and Catherine Walsh. Anxiously awaiting Nate’s arrival were cousins William and Sam in Ottawa, Ontario. Special thanks to Laura, Bev, and Dr. Tom Costello in Wabush for your excellent care and support. Thank you to Dr. Tennant and team of doctors and nurses of 5NB. Thank you to the nurses and Doctors in the NICU at the Janeway for taking special care of Nate. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the amazing caseroom staff - Judy, Dawn, Sherri, Lorna and Dr. Erica Howse for their expertise and wonderful care! A heartfelt thank you to all our family and friends for their love and support always. We thank God for our precious little angel.

ENNIS - Danny, Christina (Doyle) and big sister Emma are thrilled to announce the arrival of their precious son and brother, Cody Robert, born on February 2, 2007 at 5:30 a.m., weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. Proud grandparents are Gary and Marian Doyle and Bob and Maxine Ennis, all of Goulds. Many thanks extended to Dr. Pike for her pre-natal care, the case room staff at WHC and the nurses on 5NB for all their care. A very special thanks to Daddy and Nanny Doyle for all their love and support during delivery. Also, many thanks to everyone for all the beautiful gifts given to Cody.

FARRELL/CONSTANTINE- Gus and Krista are very excited to announce the arrival of their first little girl, Jessie Leigh Farrell. Born on Febuary 2, 2007, at 6:40 am, weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. She was also welcomed with open arms by her proud grandparents Debbie and Boyd Constantine and Imelda and Bernard Farrell, and a wide circle of family and friends. Thanks to all of the staff of the case room and 5 North B. Special thanks to Dr. Joanne White and Dr. Kravitz.

FOLLETT- Taylor Follett is thrilled that his baby brother has finally arrived. Sean Damian was born on Feb 9 to proud parents Damian and Cheryl, weighing in at a healthy 8 pds, 9 oz. Sean is greeted by his Nanny King, Nanny Follett, as well as the rest of his family. Special thanks to Dr. Strand and his team, as well as the nurses on 5NB.

GREEN- Jay and Stacey (Simms) and very proud big sister, Jaiden, are delighted to announce the arrival of the newest addition to their family. Ethan MacDonald was born on February 1, 2007, at 9:57 a.m. at the WHC, St. John's, weighing 8 lbs. 1 oz. Proud grandparents are Harold and Jean Simms of Goulds, Madeline Green of St. John's and smiling down from Heaven, MacDonald Green. Also very proud are Aunts Erin Simms and Carol Green and Uncle Thomas Simms. Thank you to caseroom nurse Juanita Holwell, the nurses of 5NB and especially Dr. Cherry Pike and Dr. Jennifer Mercer for bringing our little Prince into the world safely.

HALL - Ken and Christina (Kennedy) are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, Mackenzie Grace, born at 4:21 a.m. on February 14, 2007, weighing 11 lbs. 1 oz. Welcoming Mackenzie are proud grandparents Shirley Kennedy and Marie Hall. Watching over Mackenzie and sending love from heaven are Poppy John Kennedy and Poppy Bill Hall. Mackenzie is also welcomed by many relatives and friends including cousins Ryan and Molly Pickard and Kenna Hynes. Special thanks to Dr. O’Grady and all the doctors and nurses on 5NB and in the case room, especially Nurse Lisa Patten and Jessica Fry. Mommy and Mackenzie would like to say a special thank you to Daddy for taking good care of us during pregnancy and delivery. Thank God for our precious little girl.

HANDRIGAN/OLESKEVICH - Nancy and Peter are overjoyed to welcome Grace Evelyn Jill into their lives. Born on February 27, 2007 in Burlington, Ontario, she is excited to soon visit family in Newfoundland, including grandparents Marion Davis and Clayton & June Handrigan, Aunt Jill Howlett, and great-grandparents Isaac & Olive Davis and Mabel Handrigan.

HANLON- Amazing Grace! Craig and Erin Hanlon (Mannering) are thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Grace Maria, who was born at 11 p.m. February 21, 2007, weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz. ‘Gracie’ is proudly welcomed by grandparents Joan Mannering and Kevin and Barbara Hanlon. Loving aunts and uncles are Dana and Jeremy Meadus and Christy Mannering. Gracie is especially welcomed by her cousin, Ella. Special thanks to Dr. Erica Howse for her continued guidance and support through all. As well, thanks to the nurses at the HSC case room, ICU and 5NB for all you did for Gracie’s mommy. We will never forget all you did for our family.

HEWITT- Barry Hewitt and Elizabeth Sheppard Hewitt are delighted to announce the birth of their second beautiful son, Ethan Barry Mason Hewitt. Born February 22, 2007 and weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz, big brother Spencer couldn’t be more proud. Special thanks are extended to family, friends and medical staff who helped along the way.

HIGGINS- Jason and Allison are proud to announce the arrival of their beautiful baby boy, William Craig, born February 3, 2007 at 7:17 am weighing 7 lbs. 15 ozs. Welcoming Will to a loving family are first-time grandparents Harold and Brenda Luscombe and Inez Higgins, and first-time great-grandparents Clayton and Jane Mercer. Watching over him from heaven is his grandfather Ches Higgins. Thanks to all our family and friends for their continued love and support, and special thanks to Dr. Joanne Lacelle for her outstanding care.

HYNES– Daddy has a new snowmobiling buddy! Rennie and Hilary (Lawrence) are very proud to announce the arrival of their first child, a son. Blake Lawrence Hynes was born February 11, 2007, at 11:28 p.m., at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, weighing 5 lbs. 12 oz. Beaming with joy are first-time Grandparents, Reg and Karen Lawrence and Ed and Mary Hynes. Great-Grandmothers are Sylvia Emberley and Loretta Hynes. Loving Aunts and Uncles are Dawn (Todd) Foote, Nikki Hynes, Reggie Lawrence and Eddie Hynes. Special thanks to Dr. Johanne Lacelle for her special care and delivery of our son. Thanks to the staff of the case room and 5 North B for their care and support.

KAISER - Shane and Nancy (Nippard) are elated to announce the birth of their beautiful baby boy, Hayden Barrett. Hayden was born February 6, 2007 at 5:48 p.m., weighing 7 lbs. 12 ounces at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Hayden is welcomed by proud grandparents Harvey and Stella Nippard of Mount Pearl and Gary and Dorothy Kaiser of Sydney; great-grandparents Ralph and Ruth Kaiser of Sydney and Bruce and Betty Windeler of Pork Hawkesbury. Hayden can’t wait to meet all of his family and friends in Newfoundland, especially cousins Alex and Jillian Paddock, this summer. Many thanks are extended to Dr. J. Crosby for her prenatal care and all of the nursing staff on the OBS and Labor and Delivery units, especially nurses C. Laffin and N. Doyle for taking care of Mommy while awaiting Hayden’s arrival. Mommy and Hayden would like to say a special thank you to Nan Nippard for coming to visit and taking care of us and to Daddy for taking such good care of both of us during the pregnancy and delivery.

KEATS-DUPUIS– Born to Karen Keats and Noland Dupuis, a son, on Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Proud grandparents are Robert and Ruby Keats of St. John's, NL, and Larry and Muriel Dupuis of British Columbia.

LITTLEJOHN- Born to Darren and Liane at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, New York City, a precious baby boy, 7 lbs. 9 oz.

MARSHALL- Scott and Tracey (Saunders) along with big sister, Laura, are thrilled to announce the arrival of their precious son and little brother, Eric Roy, born at the Saint John Regional Hospital, NB, on February 26, 2007, at 2:56 a.m., and weighing 6 lbs. 14 ozs. Proud grandparents: Roy and Jeanette Saunders of St. John’s, NL, and Allan and Ann Marshall of Hampton, NB; great-grandparents Lloyd Mason and Dorothy Marshall also of Hampton, NB.

MCCARTHY - Paul & Yvonne are thrilled to announce with love the arrival of their first child, a beautiful baby boy, Connor Thomas, born Saturday, February 24, 2007, at 2:41 a.m. at the HSC, weighing 6 lbs., 6 ozs. Connor is also welcomed with love by proud grandparents Richard & Nita Pope of Mount Pearl and Hazel McCarthy of Corner Brook. Thank you to Dr. Roche for my exceptional pre-natal care. Thanks to homecare nurses Carol-Ann, Lois & Lisa. Thanks to Dr. Bartellas for Connor’s safe delivery. Also, thanks to all the nurses in the case room, especially Lorna for all your motivation and support. Also Mommy and Connor want to send a big thank you to Daddy for all his care, love and support during the labour and delivery, today and always.

MURPHY- Very happy parents, Brian & Julie (Hooper) announce the birth of their precious baby girl "Makayla Rae", born on Sunday, February 25th, 2007 at 7:45 am, weighing 7 lbs 14.5 oz. Makayla was eagerly welcomed by proud grandparents, Sharon & Wally Murphy, Helen & Wayne Hooper as well as great-grandparents Winnie & Leslie Maddigan. Also very excited are Aunt Allison, Uncle Richard, Uncle Ken & Aunt Sabeena, all waiting in line to spoil their little angel. Thank-you Dr. Cherry Pike, Dr. Erica Howse and our fabulous case room nurses Tracey and Bev for their special care. A very big HUG for Daddy from Mommy and Makayla....aka "the girls" for loving and taking good care of us during this amazing journey!

NIPPARD- Jason and Krista (Stead) are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, Kobe Jason born at 8:52 a.m. on February 7, 2007, weighing 10 lbs., 15 oz., at the Health Sciences Centre. A very special thank you to Dr. Patricia Roche for the excellent prenatal care and the safe delivery of our baby boy. Thank you to the wonderful staff in the caseroom and 5NB. As well, thanks to Juanita O’Leary and Lois, Lisa and Carol Anne from the Prenatal Home Care Program.

O’KEEFE/LYNGHOLM- With open arms, grateful hearts and lots of prayers, Susan and Alf wish to announce the safe arrival of their precious baby girl, Sara Kristina, born February 12, 2007, at 12:27 p.m. at the HSC in St. John’s, NL, weighing in at 6 lbs. 5 ozs. Proud grandparents Patricia and Kevin O’Keefe of Mt. Pearl, Gudrun and Anne Johnny Lyngholm of Norway. Welcomed by great-grandmothers Sarah Driscoll of New Melbourne, Martha Lyngholm and Hildur Vikse of Norway. Also welcomed by many friends and family in both NL and Norway. Sara and her Mom would like to say a special thank-you to Auntie Barb and Uncle Ronny Pomeroy for everything they have done throughout the pregnancy and after my birth. Aunt Heidi and Uncle Jostein, cousins Halvard and Ingvild whom I have yet to meet, thanks and see you in some months. To Uncle Sean O’Keefe and Ken Alebal of California, see you real soon. A special thank-you to Dr. Kathy Chaytor for looking out for my well-being. To Pat and Sue of the MFA Unit, thank-you. You are two very special people who kept “close eyes” on me for 9 months. Special thanks to Dr. O’Leary, case room nurses Regina, Donna, Sherri and Lorna for your expertise and excellent care. Thank you to all the nurses on 5NB, especially Kim Kelly, Heather, Anne Marie and Joy. To Poppy Driscoll and Nanny and Poppy O’Keefe and great-grandfather Alfred Lyngholm and Hans Vikse watching from heaven, thanks for making sure I arrived safe and sound. Very special thanks to Nanny O’Keefe (Patsy) for helping keep mommy safe and sound for 9 months. To my animal family, Alley, Pebbles, A.J., Midnight, Blacky and Whity, “I’m here at last,” no more purring on mommy’s belly.

O’LEARY - Our little man is here! Stephen, Corinne (Fewer) and big sister Anna are excited to announce the arrival of their handsome little boy, Nathan John O’Leary. Nathan arrived on February 10, 2007, weighing 8 lbs. 3 oz. Nathan is welcomed by proud grandparents Patricia and John O’Leary and Ken Fewer. Watching over Nathan from heaven is his grandmother, Mary Fewer. Special thanks to Dr. Megan Robbins and the nurses of the case room and 5 North B for their excellent care. Mommy would like to say a big thank you to Daddy for his support and encouragement during Nathan’s arrival.

RIDEOUT- Geoff and Carolyn proudly announce the arrival of their beautiful new daughter Sophie Wynne, born 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz. Also welcoming Sophie are first-time grandparents Don and Elsie Rideout and Wilson and Sylvia Barfoot. Sincere thanks to Drs. Pike and Bartellas and the case room staff for their skill and reassurance as we brought Sophie into the world, and to the staff of 5NB at the Health Sciences. We extend heartfelt gratitude to the NICU nurses and doctors who provided us with warmth, guidance, and a healthy Sophie to take back to her loving home.

SEARS - Scott and Terri Lynn (Butt) Sears are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of their first child, a precious beautiful daughter, Ava Audrey Grace, born Feb. 19, 2007 at 2:51 a.m. weighing 9 lbs. 3 ozs. Waiting to welcome Ava with lots of love were very proud first time grandparents: Terry and Kathy Butt and grandparents Wayne and Cynthia Sears, along with cousin Cindy. Ava is also adored by great-grandparents and all family and friends. A huge thank you to Dr. Bartellas and Dr. Murphy for the safe delivery and thank you to all the nurses in the case room for their time and patience. Also thanks to Michelle & Linda at 5 North B for all their help, along with Dr. Kravitz. Special wishes from Uncle Eddie, Aunt Corrina & cousin Brayden.

SKINNER/BARRETT - Proud parents Duane, Lisa and big sister Taylor are delighted to announce the birth of Adrian Barrett Skinner. Adrian was born at the HSC, February 13, 2007, 8:22 pm., weighing 10 lbs. 1 oz. Adrian is welcomed by proud first time grandparents Leona Hearn and Percy Barrett, by grandparents Karl and Levenia Skinner and by Nanny Eileen and Poppy Pat. Adrian is welcomed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and the rest of his extended family. Thank you to Dr. Pike for Adrian's safe delivery, Dr. Heidi Kravitz and Dr. Jennifer Stender for their wonderful prenatal care, to all the nurses in the case room and 5NB for their outstanding support. Thank you to Nanny Hearn for all your help since we came home. A big thank you to daddy for his support during the labour and delivery. We are so glad you are finally here Adrian and we love you!!

SPURRELL – My name is Chloe Rita Spurrell. I was born on February 2, 2007. I was 6 lbs. 9 oz. My mommy is Adele Spurrell. I have Poppy Adrian, Nanny Judy, Poppy Bob and Nanny Gina. I have 4 uncles - Shawn, Jay (Godfather), Frank and Gregory; one aunt - Lesley; my special cousin Dianne (Godmother); my best buddy, Chris, mommy’s boyfriend. Hey my life is going to be great! Special thanks to Dr. M. Robbins and caseroom staff. A special hello to Great-Nanny and Poppy Summers and Great-poppy Crocker.

SPURRELL (HUTCHENS)- Sheldon and Andrea Spurrell take great joy in announcing the birth of their son, Benjamin Sheldon Spurrell, born February 10, 2007 at the HSC at 4:59 p.m. He weighed 9 lbs., .08 ozs and was 21¾ inches long. Benjamin is welcomed by delighted grandparents Eva and Norman Spurrell, Arnold’s Cove and Donald and Norma Hutchens, St. John’s; great-grandparents Elizabeth Warren and Mary Spurrell, Arnold’s Cove and Cecil and Florence Hutchens, St. John’s; aunts Karen, Suzette and Karen K., uncles Scott and Neil and cousin Jacob.

STAMP- Judy and Ivan Stamp are thrilled to announce the birth of their precious baby boy, Colby Francis George Stamp. Born at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, NL on February 26th, 2007 at 5:26 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 28 oz. Welcoming Colby are proud first time Grandparents, Cecil and Ann Stamp, Grandmother, Anita Stamp, Great-Grandmothers: Nanny Pitman and Nanny Kielly, Aunts: Kerry, Kim, Colleen, Janet, Karen, Brenda, Joan, and Wanda (Godmother), Uncle and Godfather, Chris and many cousins. We thank God for this precious little angel.

ST. JOHN - David and Janice (nee Clarke) and proud big sister Jessica are thrilled to announce the arrival of their bouncing baby boy - Jacob David. Jacob arrived on February 28th, 2007 at the HSC, weighing in at a healthy 9 lbs., 7 oz. Also welcoming Jacob are grandparents Marie and Robert Clarke and Hannah and Joseph St. John. Thanks to Dr. Young and Dr. Roche for Jacob’s safe arrival as well as to the amazing staff in the caseroom and 5NB. Special thanks to Daddy, Jessica and Grandma for all their love, extra care and support.

STRONG - Dennis and Renee (Churchill) are thrilled to announce the birth of their precious baby boy, Carter Dennis Strong. Carter was born at the Women’s Health Centre on February 4, 2007 at 9:02 a.m., weighing 7 lbs. 7 ozs. Proud first-time grandparents are Marshall and Myrtle Churchill of Portugal Cove and Jim and June Strong of Long Pond. Carter is also welcomed by his uncles Kurt Churchill and Greg Strong, his three great-grandmothers, and many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. Thank you to Dr. Jackie Elliott and Dr. Elias Bartellas for the wonderful prenatal care and to the case room staff and O.R. staff for a safe delivery. Thank you to all of our family, friends and neighbours for all of your support and kindness. Mommy would also like to thank Daddy for all his care and support during the labour and delivery. Also, a special thank you goes out to Nanny Churchill for being so helpful to Mommy and Carter.

TILLEY- Derek, Gillian and big sister Charlotte are thrilled at the early arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Andrew Douglas, weighing 8lb 6 oz, born February 19, 2007, in Toronto. Also welcomed by his ecstatic grandparents Derek & Carolyn Tilley, St. John’s, and Molly (late Brian) Fripp of Montreal. Joining the celebration are his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

WARREN- Sheldon & Diana (Kelly) and big sister Bree-Ann are elated to announce the birth of Ewan Garrett Abe who was born on February 12, 2007 @ 8:27 AM weighing 8 lbs. 15 ozs. Welcoming Ewan’s arrival are grandmothers Barbara Kelly and Mary Warren of Gambo and a large circle of family and friends. Watching over Ewan and big sister Bree-Ann are guardian angels Pop Kelly and Pop Warren. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sarah Healey, Dr Jill Carpenter & the OR staff at the HSC. Special thanks to case room nurses Shannon & Judy and the great nurses on 5NB for taking such good care of Ewan & Mommy.
