BARTLETT, John Michael - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, February 19 in the presence of his loving family, John Michael Bartlett of Marysvale, aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife: Margaret; three sons: Steve (Olive), Frank (Jean), John (Clair); four daughters: Joan (Winston), Carmel (Cecil), Margaret (Ron), and Carol (Ron); 13 grandchildren: Terry, Michael, Cheryl, Tracey (Ross), Lisa, Lori, Stephen, Renee, Ron, Holly, Vanessa, Zachary, and Carla; four brothers: James (Kay), Nova Scotia; Richard (Agnes), Michael (Madeline), and Patrick (Bride); one sister: Eileen and sister-in-law: Kathleen. Resting at Broughton`s Funeral Home, Brigus on Sunday, February 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Monday, February 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Funeral to take place from Our Lady of Snows Church, Marysvale on Tuesday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery, Brigus.

BUTLER, Jimmy - Died suddenly on Sunday, February 13th, 2000, Jimmy Butler, in his 40th year, of Holyrood. Predeceased by his father James, 1979. He will be missed and remembered by his mother Bernadette (nee Singleton); his brother Joseph; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Dunphy`s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation on Tuesday from 11 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral will take place on Wednesday, February 16th, 2000 following 11:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.

CLARKE, Annie - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2000, Annie Clarke, aged 86 years. Predeceased by her son Joseph James, December 4, 1942 and her daughter Ethel, December 19, 1946. Leaving to mourn her husband Archibald; four sons: Reuben (Wilma), Shirley (Lilly), Crosbie (Maureen) and Walter (Sandra); six daughters: Sarah (Lawrence Porter), Rebecca (Kenneth Fagan), Ethel (David Street), Louise (Barry Scott), Audrey (Gary Dawe), Judy (Gerry Churchill); brothers: Walter Lynch (Mary), Joseph Lynch (Joyce); sisters; Rebecca Clarke and Daisy Adams; sisters-in-law: Ethel Perrin, Lil Gosse, Marg Hussey and Florence Pennell; 28 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 12 noon - 10 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday. Funeral Service 1 p.m. Saturday, February 5th, 2000 from Barrett`s Chapel. Father of John Crowley and his wife Barbara of Bourne, Barbara and her husband Richard Breen of Malden, James Crowley of Medford, Joan and her husband Allan Peeke of Acton, Leo Crowley and his wife Isabel of Winchester, Dennis Crowley of Bradford, Edward and his wife Andrea Crowley of Medford. Also survived by eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral from The George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powderhouse Sq.) Leaving with fond and loving memories his wife of 58 years, Mabel; one daughter, Winnie Greene, and special son-in-law, Jack; four grandchildren, whom he adored, Jim, Joy (Chris), Jacqueline (Bill), Joan (Andre); three cherished great-grandchildren: Joey, Megan, and Jessica; sister-in-law, Alice Dawe; two special nephews: Joe and Will Dawe; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband James; daughter Ann Elizabeth; her parents, Patrick and Elizabeth (Ryan) Griffin; brothers: Richard and John; sisters: Elizabeth Stoyles and Angela Doyle. Left, not to mourn, but to celebrate her life are children: Sister Mary Theresa Doyle, PBVM, Frank (Mary), Vince (Sheila), Clara (Doug Rutherford), Marie (Cal Peach), John (Robin) and Gerard (Rowena); ten grandchildren: Sheldon (Erin), Karyn (Scott), Andre (Tammy), Stefan, Katrina, Thomas, Harry (Juanita), Lisa, Keshia and Jordan; four great-grandchildren: Ryan, Shawn, Alanna and Kassidy; also two sisters: Clara Ryan, Philadelphia and Nell Stoyles, Georgetown, Ont.; as well as a large circle of family and friends. HURLEY, Evelyn - On Sunday, February 27, 2000, God whispered lovingly to Evelyn Hurley (age 79 years). "Well done good and faithful servant, it is time to come home." He then took Evelyn into His gentle arms and brought her to be reunited forever with her beloved Lar. (1995). There also to welcome her home are her parents, Edward and Martha Parsons; her two sisters: Jean Darrock, Rosie Clements and her brother Riv Parsons. Waiting with open arms for her Nanny, as well, her so loved granddaughter Lisa Hurley. Left to celebrate the life of this very special mother and renowned business woman are her four sons: Ed (Ros), Martin (Annette), Lawrence (Judy), Pat (Mary); and her five daughters: Joan Snow (Clyde, deceased), Helen Hunt (Rendell), Jean Warford (Ben), Alice Normore (Ron) and Joyce Dunne; one brother Herb (Mabel). Also left with many cherished memories are her pride and joy, her 31 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Evelyn`s loyal customers who frequented Hurley`s Confectionery for over fifty years and her dear friends, especially Mrs. Fronie Kent, will always fondly remember this kind and good natured soul. Remains resting at Pendergast`s Funeral Home, Bell Island. Visitation times are Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at St. Cyprian`s Anglican Church at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2000. Survived by her children: Michael (Alexa), Edward (Lillian), James (Helen), Mary Squires, Kevin (Brenda), Regina Wheeler, Eleanor Stapleton (Peter) and Philip; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Agnes Roche, Elizabeth McGrath, Mary Tapper, Theresa Tapper (Ray), Torbay; also two sisters-in-law: Alice Field and Josephine Field, Torbay. Also leaving many relatives and friends, especially the Sisters, staff and residents at St. Patrick`s Mercy Home. Surviving are daughter Carol and husband Lorne, with whom she resided, Dartmouth; brothers: Gordon (Veronica), Newfoundland, Malcolm (Viola), Dartmouth, Leslie (Irene), Newfoundland, Jack (Clarice), Newfoundland; sisters: Mary Schliesmann (John), Ontario, Jean Crocker (Walter), Newfoundland; sister-in-law Venus; grandchildren: Lorna Jones, Paul Jones and wife Denise and Shauna Jones and husband Gerry LeBlanc; great-grandchildren: Lauren and Hannah Jones, Morgan LeBlanc. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Leonard; son Herbert Edward; brothers: Sylvester, Harold and William. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday; Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Arthur Snow officiating.
