Pike, Brigadier Wallace H., S.A. (R)
Born at Jamestown, Bonavista Bay on December 22, 1899. Promoted to Glory from
his late residence Birch Hills, Bay Roberts on Sunday, April 18, 1999.
The last WW1 Veteran of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment residing in Newfoundland,
having served and being wounded in France and Belguim including the Battle
of Cambrai following which the Newfoundland Regiment was awarded the title
Royal. Following his honourable discharge from the Royal Newfoundland Regiment,
he entered the Salvation Army Training College and was commissioned as an officer
on August 14, 1921. Together with his wife, Minnie, also a commissioned officer,
they served in many corps over the next 43 years. He retired with the rank
of Brigadier on December 22, 1964. In addition to his WW1 British service medals,
appointed Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de l'ordre
de la Legion d'Honneur) in 1999 by the government of France. Longtime service
to the Bay Roberts Royal Canadian Legion as Chaplain, member of Bartholomew
#40 Loyal Orange Lodge and Royal Black Preceptory #1250, Clarke's Beach. An
avid outdoorsman and devoted family man, Brigadier Pike was predeceased by
his wife Minnie in 1978, baby daughter Fronie in 1945 and by six of his eight
sisters. Leaving with loving memories, his remaining 9 children;Jean Bursey

Roy), Kingsville, Ont., Marjorie Poole (late husband Winston), Thornhill, Ont.,

Mass.; Ivy Fry, husband Mark, Jamestown, Bonavista Bay; 30 grandchildren; 50

in the presence of his loving family, John Sullivan Rogers, formerly

Passed peacefully away at the Masonic Park Nursing Home on Saturday,
April 24th, 1999, in her 93rd year.
Predeceased by her husband Francis A. in 1942. Leaving to mourn and
cherish her memories are two sons; Robert and wife Evelyn; Angus and
wife Minnie; two daughters; Edith Sullivan and husband Harold; Audrey
Noseworthy and husband Francis; five grandsons; Paul. Colin, Jeff and
Carl Sullivan and Scott Noseworthy; four granddaughters; Lois O’Keefe,
Marilyn Collins, Betty Lahey, Nancy Elkins and their families including
