Passed peacefully away on Saturday, August 19th, 2000, Sidney Emerson Andrews, in his 85th year. Retired Police Sergeant with the RNC. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis and infant son Charles Samuel. Leaving to mourn his loving son Edward Andrews and wife Peggy, Corner Brook; daughters; Georgie Andrews of St. John's, Jean Keats and husband Chuck of Fort McMurray, Sandra and Steve Froggatt of St. John's; grandchildren; Gina, Gillian, Boyd (Angie), Jason (Tammy), Bonny, Darcy, Alyssa and Tim; great-grandchildren; Jordan, Andrew and MacKenzie; sister; Jean Hunt; brother-in-law; Ern Chafe and wife Helen of BC; as well as other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Waterford Hospital, after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease, on Wednesday, August 16th, 2000 Donald Baird, Seal Cove, formerly of Twillingate. Age 67 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Hilda; 3 sons: Donald (friend Brenda), William (Sandra), Gregory (Anita); and 1 daughter Sherry; 3 grandchildren: Amanda, Troy and Grace; 1 sister and 5 brothers; also nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation on Thursday and Friday 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 10-12 noon. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on Tuesday, August 15th, 2000, Meta Belle Barrett of Swift Current, aged 85 years. Predeceased by son-in-law Ray Marshall, 1996 and brothers; Archibald Beck, 1984, and Chesley Beck, 1974. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband George, of 58 years; daughter Audrey Marshall, St. John's; granddaughters; Andrea Marshall (Jeffrey Snook) and Suzanne Marshall, both of St. John's; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. BARTLETT, Anita (nee Crawley) -
Formerly of Holyrood. Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her children, at her residence on Wednesday, August 23rd, in her 75th year. Dear mother of Bonita Quinlan of Tweed, Terry (and Paul) Saulnier of Ottawa, Sharon (and Charles) Marlowe of Oshawa, Gail Malloy of Port Hope, Deborough (and Orvil) Goulah of Tweed, Paul (and Faith) Bartlett of Consecon, and Robert (and Sylvia) Bartlett of Penetanguishene. Always loved and remembered by her grandchildren: Jimmy, Bobby, Tara, Monique, Michelle, Adrienne, Megan, Stefanie, Shannon, Aaron, Courtney, Jamie and Pamela. Dear sister of Alma Murphy of Paradise, Marlene O'Brien, Brendan Crawley of Holyrood and Blanche Emmons of Oshawa, ON. Passed away suddenly while vacationing in Cambridge, Ontario, on Sunday, August 20, 2000 Beryl Josephine (Fitzgerald) Bartlett, age 84, of Bell Island. She was predeceased by her husband Bart and precious granddaughter Dawn Cahill; also three sisters: Muriel Basha, Annie Jackman, Shirley Snow; and one brother Raymond Fitzgerald. Left to mourn with loving memories are sons: Lou (Genevieve), Gordon (Barbara), Stan (Patricia), all of Cambridge, Ontario, George (Barbara), South River; and one daughter, friend and care giver, Lorraine (Bill Cahill), Bell Island. Also left to mourn her passing are 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Beryl will be sadly missed by surviving sisters: Zita Lemaire, London, Ontario, Marjory White, Mount Pearl; and brothers: Lou Fitzgerald (Theresa), Owen Sound, Ontario, Brian Fitzgerald (Dorothy), South River and Riv Fitzgerald, Bell Island; and by special friend Cavell French and neighbours Mr. & Mrs. Con Murrin. Passed peacefully away, after a brief illness, at the Health Science Complex on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2000, Esther Freda Bishop of Cavendish, age 77 years. Leaving to mourn loving husband of 60 years, Solomon; 13 children; Ina Munro (Howard, deceased) (Brian), Linda Bishop (Clyde Croucher), Barb Parsons (Eric), Freda Trumble (Wayne), Jim (Debbie), Vic (Sandra), Nellie Parsons (John), Solomon Jr. (Geraldine), Sterling (Elsie), Margaret Pollett (Allan), Howard (Juanita), Ron (Florence) and Rhoda Bishop. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories; three sons; Augustus O'Dell (Marge), Bell Island, Raymond O'Dell (Carol), Alberta and Edward O'Dell (Marie), Ontario; three daughters; Gertrude (Michael Matthews), Kelligrews, Mary (Hendrich Janecek), Ontario and Winnie (Roger Guy), Mount Pearl; one brother Edmund Dixon, Makinsons; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Passed peacefully away on August 26th, 2000, at the Captain William Jackman Memorial Hospital after a courageous four year battle with a brain tumor, Reginald Harte, age 52 of Labrador City and formerly of Renews. As an educator at the Newfoundland School for the Hearing Impaired, Mobile Central High School, Labrador City Collegiate and as an itinerant teacher for the hearing impaired, his unique personality and unselfish work ethic touched many people- not only as a teacher in the classroom, but outside as well. He was just as much at home as a cross-country running coach, Allied Youth Leader, an all-star defenceman, gloating hockey dad, drama coach or as a cast member of the Carol Players of Labrador West. Reg was predeceased by his father Andrew, mother Rose and aunt Bride. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Patty Pashkoski and children Jarred and Kelsie, as well as five sisters and four brothers; Dorothy (Elliott) Brown of Twinsburg, Ohio; William of Renews; E. The death of Arlene Moffatt of Regent Street, Fredericton, wife of the late Dr. Garfield Moffatt CM, occurred on August 29th, 2000, at home in the presence of her family. Born in Parrsboro, NS, February 15th, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Vera Fraser (Gilbert). A devoted mother, Arlene instilled love and loyalty in her family. She will be missed and remembered with love by her children; Noel (Mary Ann) and her children Laura, and Heather of Fredericton, NB, Ann (David) Wagner and their children Kate, John, Sarah of Fredericton, NB, Blair (Vicky) Smith of Rothesay, NB and their children Ted, and Amelia, and Dr. Scott and (Dr. Maria Goodridge) and their children Ian, Noel, Katherine, and Grace, form St. John's, Newfoundland, Bethany and (Dr. Art Cruz) and their children Evan, Mark and Marissa of Halifax, NS. She was predeceased by his first son Ian.
Arlene was a graduate nurse of the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. After living in Toronto and Springhill, the family moved to Fredericton where Dr. Moffatt practiced for many years. Their home on the crest of the hill on Regent Street, and their cottage at Pugwash Point, welcomed many generations of family and friends. With a quiet strength and wonderful sense of humor, Arlene shared the joys and comforted the sorrows of many lives who has the privilege to know her. The family has been blessed by the friendship and care provided by Marilyn Mable for both Arlene and her Mother over the past few years. Special thank you to Extra Mural Nurses and the many caregivers from VON People Care and We Care.

Sellars, Thomas Charles
On August 12th, 2000. Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, in Burlington, Ontario. Cherished husband of the late Muriel (nee Woodbury) and loving father of Catherine Snider and Elizabeth Blake, residing on Ontario. Born on August 22nd, 1916 "Tom" Sellars began employment with the Department of Health in the Newfoundland Government of 1936. He remained there until his retirement in 1981, earning a succession of promotions culminating in his appointment as Deputy Minister. Mr. Sellars was a member of the Joint Civil Service Council and the Board of Governors of the Janeway Child Health Centre. Remains interred in Middleton, Nov Scotia, after a Private Service.

Sheppard, Elsie A. (White, Canning)
Passed away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Complex at Clarke's Beach, on August 30th, 2000, Elsie Sheppard, at the age of 86. Born to Stephen Sheppard and Ellen (Ford) Sheppard at Indian Island, on July 18th, 1914, Elsie was the 2nd child in a family of five. After finishing her schooling on the island, she taught for one year in the Anglican School System in Island Harbor. She subsequently found employment with the family of Joseph Hemeon of Botwood, where she worked as a domestic maid. She later went to work as a clerk, in the business of J.J. Baggs, in Point Leamington. Here she met and married George White, who predeceased her in 1961. Predeceased also, by her sister Molly (Richard) Collins of Seldom Come By in 1980, and a brother Edgar (Elizabeth) Sheppard of Point Leamington in 1999. Mr. Stroud retired from school bus contracting in 1987 and was a member of the Lions Club, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 49, The Lung Association, Windsor Fire Department, and Windsor Town Council. He also served with the 166th Royal Newfoundland Regiment during the Second World War. Predeceased by son; Glenn in 1987. Passed peacefully away on August 19th, 2000, at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's Hospital, Daniel Vey, aged 94 years. Predeceased by his wife Julia (1991) and son Reginald (1994). Leaving to mourn; four sons; Petley (Ada), Barrie, ON., Chesley (Joan), with whom he resided, Raye (Vernita), St. John's, Harvey (Margaret), Labrador City; two daughters; Sybil (Job) Blackmore and Joyce Morris, St. John's; and daughter-in-law Veenie, Clarenville. Also leaving to mourn; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to daughter-in-law Joan for her loving service and care over the years. Patricia is survived by her husband of 31 years, Peter; sons; Paul, Leo, Terry, and daughter Susie; as well as grandchildren; Cayla, Heather, Brittany, Michael, Connor, Anthony and Jonnie; brothers; Ron, Bernard; and sister Genevieve. In lieu of sympathies, everyone who knew and loved her should put on some Irish music, enjoy a beef steak and kidney pie, a Vo7, and a game of Scat.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Luke Jerome Woodrow wish to announce his passing at the Interfaith Home for Seniors in Corner Brook on Saturday, August 19th, 2000 in his 79th year. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bernice (Boland) of Corner Brook; two sons; Bruce Boland, Corner Brook; and father Terry Boland, Toronto; two daughters; Barbara McHugh (Rick), Corner Brook and Lorraine (Clarence) Patey, Irishtown; 6 grandchildren; Deon, Shannon, Michelle, Lisa, Jennifer and Terri; 2 great-grandchildren; Jordon Luke and Ashley; 2 sisters; Mary Reynolds, Harbour Grace and sister Mary Raymond Woodrow, St. John's; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and May (Rice) Woodrow; 4 brothers; Jack, Mike, Jim and Daniel; and a sister, Catherine . Mr. Woodrow served at a Parish Priest for 25 years, was a councilor for the city of Corner Brook, and was a member of the House of Assembly for the Bay of Islands. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Sunday, August 20th, 2000 and Monday, August 21st, 2000, between the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.. Funeral Service will take place at the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2000 at 10:30 am.. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
