CHAFE, David Boyd
Born November 8th, 1937 in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland and died peacefully at home in Hamilton, Ontario on August 1st 1993 after a long fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Leslie (adopted), Paul and Andrea, his grandchildren Molly and Christian and his brothers and sisters: Gwen, Reg, Beryl, Ruth, Clyde, Doug, Linda and Peggy. He will be sorely missed by his family and by friends, students and colleagues around the world. In Rotary he helped handicapped children and worked toward international cooperation. He worked in the Mundialization Society and Boy Scouts. He loved nature, he loved learning and he loved life. He had a kind, strong, gentle nature and was always generous, witty and patient. He gave throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve of Costa Rica c/o The Monteverde Conservation League, Box 10165, San Jose, Costa Rica, 1000, to establish and eternal memorial. A memorial service will be held at J.B. Mariatt Funeral Home, 615 Main St. East, in Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday, August 7, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome.

Passed away at the Pallative Care Unit at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 1, 1993, Jean Chafe of Petty Harbour, aged 62 years. Predeceased by her husband Melvin May 1984. leaving to mourn three daughters: Betty and Evelyn (friend Hassan) at home, Linda (husband Terry Snelgrove), Shea Heights; three sons: Wilson (wife Gloria), Foxtrap, Albert (wife Gertrude), Goulds, Kevin (wife Suzanne), Petty Harbour; seven grandchildren: Corrina, Cory, John, Tanya, and Lisa Chafe, Sam and Gordie Snelgrove; two brothers: Wilson (wife Myra), Corner Brook, Rex (wife Judy), Winterton, sisters-in-law: Shirley Piercy, Doris Pottle (husband Ray), Foxtrap; brother-in-law Warwick Chafe (wife Stella), Three Island Pon; plus a large circle of relatives and friends: plus a large circle of relatives and friends; special friend Linda Hyde. resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, Freshwater Rd after 3 p.m. Monday. Funeral Service on Wednesday, august 4 at 2:30 p.m. St. George's Anglican Church, Petty Harbour. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Petty Harbour.
