Predeceased by parents Timothy and Racheal, brother Nicholas, sons: Karl and Richard. Left to mourn her husband of fifty-one years, retired U.S. Marine Sargeant Major Robert C. Brinkman; her children: Laura, Kevin, Bobby, Linda; grandchildren; brother Joe and family; sister-in-law Mary Hawco and family; also other relatives and friends. Resting at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach. Funeral to take place on Saturday, December 8 at 10:00 a.m.

BOWN, Mary Viola (Olie) R.N. - Slipped gently into eternal rest at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, on Thursday, December 13, 2001, age 83 years, formerly of Bell Island. Predeceased by parents, Thomas and Loretta Bown; brothers Addison, Father Alfred, Louis, Father Ernest, Gerald, Harry and Sydnet; sisters Marion Rees and Sr. Perpetua Bown. Leaving to mourn her sister, Florence Pendergast; and brother Charlie Bown (Evelyn) of Bell Island. Also a very special friend Elisabeth Chladek; as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, both in Newfoundland and Ottawa. Resting at St. Michael's Church, Bell Island, on Saturday from 9-11 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery on Bell Island.

SWEETAPPLE, Jessie Cora (nee Caines) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, December 26, 2001. Jessie Cora Sweetapple, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Gideon. Leaving to mourn five sons: Gideon (Patricia), David (Marilyn), Ed (Dale), Jim (Mary-Lou) and John; three daughters: Judy Barnes, Glenda Oliver (Norm) and Cindy; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special niece Sandra Taylor; nephews: Tom, Ted and John Caines and families; long time friends Nora and Robert Janes, and Evelyn Canning. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, 7-10 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday. WALL, John (Jack) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2001, John (Jack) Wall in his 76th year of Holyrood. Predeceased by his parents, his brother Patrick and his sister, Esther. Left with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife Rita, stepdaughter Cynthia (Craig), stepson Peter (Joanne), special granddaughters, Jessica and Ashley, his brother Con, Hr. Main, his sister Bride Woodford, Foxtrap, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, and a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation on Saturday from 12 noon- 4 p.m. and from 7-10 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Funeral will take place on Monday, December 10, 2001 following 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from Holy Cross Church, Holyrood. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.
