Audrey was born in St. John's Newfoundland and married her high school beau, Cyril, in 1949 on the eve of Confederation with Canada . Their home in St. John's was a warm and welcoming haven for family, friends and newcomers to the island who quickly learned the true meaning of Newfoundland hospitality. When Audrey and Cyril retired to Kelowna in 1986, they took with them their humour and generous spirit, quickly making new and lasting friends. With her health failing in 2001, Audrey moved to Calgary to be closer to her children. We wish to especially thank the staff of Unit 300 at the Beverly Centre, Glenmore, for their kindness and care for Mom, but most particularly during these last few months of her illness. Their compassion will never be forgotten. At Audrey's request, there will be no funeral service. Following cremation, her ashes will be taken to join Cyril's in Kelowna . If friends desire, memorial donations in her memory may be made directly to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Avenue W, Suite 1200, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8 (tel. 1-800-616-8816); www.alzheimer.ca     Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.mem.com. "When the warmth of the sun touches our face, We see your smile and feel your embrace, We hear the whisper of love in the wind And we know that you are close to us again. The rain speaks of tears and the thunder of pain, But soon the sun comes to earth to reclaim, As the days come and go and the world moves on, We know you're still here, you'll never be gone. On the night the Angel came and took your hand, We cried as you left for an unknown land. But heaven rejoiced as you came into sight, For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright."
