MASON, Moya Kathleen - Passed gently away on July 7, 2012, in the comfort of her home.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, her family moved to St. John's after Expo '67 when she was less than ten years old. Gifted with a strong work ethic, her first of many jobs was at the age of 12 in her father's art gallery. Moya was an award-winning real estate agent before she was 25, and proceeded to earn two Masters Degrees: Information and Library Science from the University of Western Ontario, and Classics from Memorial University. Moya designed her own unique career path, becoming a researcher, fact checker, editor and ghost writer. She was instrumental in helping her many clients with the completion of their articles, books, documentaries, theses, government reports, and web sites, as well as providing information and analysis that allowed a wide variety of businesses to successfully reach their goals.
Moya was a voracious reader, loved nature and walking, and spent many happy times travelling along the Rennie's River trail and its corollaries - her beloved golden sunshine sending sparks from her fiery red hair. She enjoyed open line radio programmes and anything Welsh, Irish, or British. She loved Newfoundland and Louisiana, and thought almost anything could be made better by simply getting it coloured pink. She was a talented baker and cook, known for her macaroni and cheese, pies, cinnamon buns, and apple crisp.
Moya was a proud and loving mother, a caring daughter and a devoted partner, who had a kind and generous heart that was deeper than the ocean and wider than the sky. Her compassionate hand was always prepared to bring hope and joy to those in need, and in her untimely passing the world has lost a beautiful and magnificent treasure. Moya was gifted with an enviable intellect and profound wisdom, and her advice and reassurances will be missed immensely.
She is survived by husband Louis Atkinson, son Daniel Jackman Mason, siblings Danny, Lisa and Robert, and her mother Mary. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Mason. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Those wishing to remember her may visit her memorial web site at: http://www.moyak.com/guestbook.html
Love, and thanks, Moya, Mom, for giving so much to so many. You will always be felt in the rustling of the trees.

Predeceased by his parents Charles Perrier & Cassie Benoit Perrier, sisters Sadie Lehr, Millie Young, Cecilia & Cora Perrier, brothers Max, Stanley, Wallace, Cliffie & Mattie.
Larry lived for most of his life at his cabin on the north shore of Red Indian Lake near Buchans, where he worked for many years at Asarco's mining and mineral exploration operations. He was a passionate and ardent reader of the Humanities, especially History and the Classics. His friends remember him as a brilliant storyteller, an unmatched culinarian, a kind master to his dogs, and a lover of classical music.
" . . .The makers of literature are those who have seen and felt the miraculous interestingness of the universe. If you have formed literary taste . . . your life will be one long ecstasy of denying that the world is a dull place . ."
- Arnold Bennett
Few if any shared Larry's depth of literary taste, and the world is indeed a duller place without him. He was a wonderful Uncle and a special friend to many. During the filming of a Land & Sea feature titled "Lawrence of the Lake," Larry quoted Henry David Thoreau: "Make yourself rich by making your wants few." By that measure, as well as by a measure of his intelligence and spirit, Larry's life was rich indeed - and more meaningful to his friends and family than most others they know.
Special thanks to Austin Alyward, Larry Farrell & Pat Perrier Chase for your visits with Larry in the last weeks of his life. A short celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date.
