Cardoulis, John Nicholas
It is with much sorrow that the family announce the sudden passing of John Nicholas Cadoulis, age 71 years, past Fire Commissioner of Newfoundland and Labrador, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, July 6th, 1997, in the presence of family. Predeceased by father, Nicholas; mother, Anna; sister, Mary Foley; infant grandson, Michael; daughter-in-law, Ann Cardoulis (Dilion); brother-in-law; Pat Foley. He leaves with precious memories, his loving wife Doreen; five sons; Peter (Gail), John, Etobicoke, Ontario, Paul (Donna), Tony (Patsy Denine and son Matthew) and Nick (Susan); three daughters; Donna (Roger Maunder), Ann Brown (Paul) and Corie Outerbridge (Stephen); 11 loving grandchildren; Nicola Radford (Keith), Allison Cardoulis, Jane Vokey, Matthew and David Cardoulis, Steven Cardoulis, Adam and Joseph Cardoulis, Meghan and Sarah Brown, Amy Outerbridge; sister, Anita; devoted brother, Gregory; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation from 10 am – 10 pm Monday and Tuesday. Funeral Mass from St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy Pond Road, on Wednesday, July 9th, 1997 at 1 am.. Interment at follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Newfoundland Kidney Foundation or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

CHAFE, THERESA
Passed peacefully away at Bayview Heights Manor, Kelligrews July 7th, 1997, aged 78 years. Leaving to mourn brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Funeral took place on Wednesday, July 9th, 1997 from St. Edward's Church, Kelligrews. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, St. John's.

DEVEREAUX, Fred
Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Thursday, July 3rd, 1997 Fred Devereaux, age 90 years of Duntara Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by his wife Sarah (nee Aylward) 1994. Left with many cherished memories, sons Gerald (Nellie Ennis), John (Bernice Rose); daughter Margaret (Tom Philpott), seven dearly loved grandchildren: Carol Ann, Jeanette, Brian, Danielle and John Devereaux, Tony and Paul Philpott; brother Alphonsus (Dorothy), Gander; sister Mary Ann Matthews, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Bridget, Duntara, and Blanche, Ontario; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at the Community centre at Duntara, Bonavista Bay. Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 5th, 1997 at 11 a.m. from St. Peter and Paul Church, King's Cove. Interment at the R.C. Cemetery, King's Cove.

Gladney, Michael M.
Passed suddenly away into the arms of God, our loving son and brother, Michael M. Gladney at the Health Sciences Center on Saturday, July 12th, 1997, age 31, of Portugal Cove. Predeceased by his brother Martin, 1973 and his niece, Danila in 1980. Leaving to mourn his loving parents; Rita and Francis; eight sisters; Maureen (John), Leona (Larry), Rita (Tom), Marie (Tommy), Carolann (Dan), Catherine (Wilson), Angela (Ron), Elizabeth (Daryl); one brother Philip (Isabel); 19 nieces and nephews; aunt Angela, St. John’s, aunt Gertrude and uncle Bill, California; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay, Sunday from 7 pm.. Funeral Tuesday to Holy Rosary Church for Mass at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow.

LEONARD, Cosmas D.
Aged 82 years. Passed peacefully away at his home in Goulds (formerly of St. Kyran's, P.B.) In the presence of his devoted family, on Wednesday, July 2, 1997. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 52 years, Mary (nee Everard); daughters: Mary (Charlie) Doyle, Anne Leonard, Irene (Marty) Howlett and Carol (Brendan) Chafe, Goulds; sons: Damian (Andrea), Dartmouth, N.S., Laurie (Pauline) Ruston, Louisiana, Randy (Hillary), Mount Pearl and Terry (Corona), St. John's; 16 grandchildren: Paul, Cheryl Walsh; Mark, Kristina Squires; Darrin, Colin, Beth-Anne Howlett; Julian, Evan Cage; Matthew, Erin, Michael Leonard; Laurie Leonard Jr.; Jeremy Leonard; Tyler, Kurtis Leonard; one sister Mary (Minnie) Walsh, Colliers; a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. Thursday and Friday, July 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place Saturday, July 5, 11 a.m., St. Kevin's Church, Goulds, followed by interment in St. Kevin's Cemetery.
God has "carried" him home.

Wakeham, (Martin) Jimmy
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on July 4th, 1997, at the age of 19. Leaving to mourn his mother Linda Martin, his older brother Tommy Martin (his son Jordon), his grandmother Florence Wakeham and a large number of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, July 7th, 1997 at 11 am from the Worship Centre, 10 Canada Drive, St. John’s, followed by interment at Kenmount Road Cemetery.
