DUGGAN, Kenneth Francis

DUGGAN Kenneth Francis
born in Halifax on October 5, 1923 was a Professional Engineer and educator. Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Veteran's Pavilion on March 15, 2022. Predeceased by his loving wife Marie (McCarthy). Dad offered his unqualified love and guidance to Gerald (Eva), Kenneth Jr. (Elisabeth), John (Debbie), Margaret Ann (Peter) and Sheila, loving grandfather to Barbara (Jason), William (Jessie), Elisabeth (Henry), Kenneth (Kelly), Christopher, Jamie (Megan), Michael (Nikita) and Allison (Daniel) and great grandfather to Alexander, Jack, Bailey, Kai, Madeline and Greyson. Dad was in the Royal Canadian Airforce and stationed in Iceland during WWII. Upon finishing high school he earned his engineering degree following that taught electrical engineering at the Technical University of Nova Scotia. He was appointed as the first principal of the College of Trades and Technology in 1963 then the first president of Cabot Institute. Dad was also the driving force behind the creation of a vocational education system for the province. Dad's true calling was in service to St. Pius X Parish and all it's parishioners. All who knew him in his many ministries including his passion for visiting the sick and shut-ins, which he did up to his ninety-sixth year, loved and respected him. Dad had a strong sense of faith and lived his life reflecting that belief. Dad is resting at Caul's Funeral Home on LeMarchant on Friday, March 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. where the family will be receiving visitors. Mass of Christian Burial to take place from St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. For those unable to attend or who wish to attend virtually, please follow the link: https://tom0349.wixsite.com/streamingservices/cauls on the day of the service. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. HAMMOND, Eric Joseph

Another of our WWII Veterans has marched proudly into the sunset. In the early hours of March 16th, 2022, Eric Joseph Hammond passed peacefully away at the Veteran's Pavilion. Eric served as a member of the 166th Newfoundland Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. He was a musician and played the clarinet in the C.L.B. band for over 40 years. Predeceased by his wife, Ruby (Kearley) Hammond, parents John and Elizabeth, brothers Albert (Marjorie), Reg (Irene), Max (Joy), Dick (Freida) and Harold (Millie). Sisters, Rose, deceased (William), Lottie (Ron) and Elizabeth Doris. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, sisters, Carrie (Archibald, deceased) and Jessie (Bill Hillyard Harold Squires, deceased). Children, Linda (Wayne) Smith, Chris (Lois) Hammond and Susan (Greg) Locke. Grandchildren: Philip (Laura) Smith, Brian (Fatima) Hammond, Scott Hammond, Jane Hammond, Erinn Locke and Morgan Locke. Great grandchildren: Ethan Smith, Kaylin Smith, Logan Hammond. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Veteran's Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Eric's memory to a charity of one's choice. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on March 18th, 2022 from 2-4pm. Funeral Service will be held from Barrett's Memorial Chapel, Saturday March 19th, 2022 at 11:00am with an internment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
