Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park on Sunday, March 14th, 1999, Lillian Anne Adey. Aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Bernard, April 1959; and brothers; Alfred and Edmund Moody. Left to mourn 3 sons; Bernard (Sandra), Brooks (Maisie) and Christopher (Sieglinde); 6 grandchildren; Karl (Barbara), Tanis (Philip), Trevor (Michelle), Jane (Glenn), Jason and Jeffery; 2 great-grandchildren; Sophia and Brooke; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Moody of New Jersey; also a circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 10 am - 12 noon, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Tuesday ; and 10 am - 12 noon, Wednesday. Funeral Service was 2 pm Wednesday, March 17th, 1999 from Barrett's Chapel with interment following at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are being gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.**

ASH, William - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Home on March 3rd, 1999, in his 91st year, of Bell Island. Predeceased by wife Mary, daughters: Muriel and Ruby; son Albert. Left to mourn two daughters: Phene Murphy (Jack), Georgetown, ON, Shirley Sider (Mel), Stevensville, ON; one son Bill (Margaret), Mt. Pearl; one brother Eric, Carbonear; special granddaughter Carla; as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home. Passed away, after a short illness, at the Grace Hospital, March 29th, 1999, Mr. Philip George DeGruchy (RCN,WW11). Born in Rencontre West, November 27th, 1917. Predeceased by parents Ruben DeGruchy and Edith Stone and sister Sylvia Peters(Victor). Leaving to mourn with fond memories his beloved wife of 57 years, Julia, (Durnford); two daughters; Eva Moore, Halifax, N.S.; and Gloria (George) Winters, St. John’s, Nfld; three grandchildren; Philip Winters (Erin), Christopher Winters (Nicole), St. John’s, Nfld, and Julia Moore (Gordon), Halifax, N.S.; also two brothers; Charles (Lenore), Sask, and John (Sue), Alberta; one sister Jane Skinner, Alberta; a number of nephews and nieces as well as a large circle of friends. DeGruchy, Philip George Stone
Passed away March 28th, 1999, at the Grace Hospital, St. John’s, Nfld., after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Rueben and Edith Stone DeGruchy and sister Sylvia Peters (Victor). Born in Rencontre West, Newfoundland, November 27th, 1917, Philip George DeGruchy made his home in Nova Scotia from 1936 – 1964. He served in the RCNVR during WW11, sailing on several corvettes. He and his family were members of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Dartmouth for many years, and Phil will be remembered by his brethren at Wentworth Masonic Lodge. He retired after 30 years with Dominion Stores Ltd, In 1979. He was a devoted family man with a lively sense of humor, and will be remembered by friends for his spirited accordion playing. Phil spent many happy hours with a fishing rod in his hand in the rivers and ponds of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Left to mourn with exceptional memories are his beloved wife of 57 years, Julia (Durnford); daughters; Eva Moore, Halifax and Gloria (George) Winters, St. John’s; three grandchildren; Philip Winters (Erin Hennessey), Christopher Winters (Nicole Bond), St. John’s and Julia Moore (Gordon Gammie), Halifax, N.S.. Also left to mourn are his brothers; Charles (Lenore), Saskatchewan, John (Sue), Alberta; and sister Jane Skinner, Alberta; a number of nephews and nieces, as well as a large circle of friends. DOYLE, James Michael (Jamie) - Passed peacefully away with dignity and courage after a six year battle with cancer, in the presence of his loving family, on Monday, March 15, 1999, Jamie Doyle, aged 21 years. Predeceased by his grandparents: Walter and Maryagnes Doyle and William (Pat) Moore. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted parents: James and Marilyn (nee Moore); beloved sister and friend Amanda.
