Died peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, Dennis N. Abery. Predeceased by parents Richard C. and Stella (Neville) Abery. Mourning his loss are his beloved wife Dorothy (Neal); cherished daughter: Jane and son-in-law: Carl Quinlan; also sisters: Joyce (Goss) and Sylvia (Clyde Pretty); brother: Cyril; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Butler and husband: Harold; brother-in-law: Bruce Neal and wife Levina; special niece Tracy Butler. Also leaving to mourn two aunts: Gen Neville, NL and Marjorie Summers, Reading, England; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends in NL, NS, ON and England. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Wednesday from 10:00 am - 12 noon, 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 11:00 am from The Carnell Memorial Chapel, with a private family interment to follow. No flowers by request. Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Homes on May 19, 2004, Marion Alcock, age 88 years. Predeceased by her parents James and Emma Alcock; and sisters: Shirley and Jean. Left with loving memories, nieces: Shirley Hudson (Eugene), Elaine Hollett-Evans (Gerard), Heather Vincent (Glenn); nephew Gary Hollett (Flora); great-nephews: Robert, Jason and Stephen; great-nieces: Jennifer, Sarah and her best friend Emma and many other friends. Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre on Sunday, May 16, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, Warrick H. Allen, aged 74 years. Past Master of Lodge Conception. Predeceased by brothers: Roy, Enos, Alfred, Norman and Earl. Leaving to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his beloved wife Marie (Hull); his children: Debbie (Rick) Fudge, Cordell, Randy (Sheena), Don (Anne); sister Ada (Mac) Lockyer; the joy of his life were his four grandchildren: Christina, Megan, Kyle and Rebecca. Also leaving to mourn his brother-in-law Cordell (Patsy) Hull; sisters-in-law: Glynn, Jo, and Angie; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ANDERSON, Mary June, R.N. (nee LeGrow) - Passed peacefully away on Monday May 17, 2004 at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after a courageous battle with cancer, Mary June Anderson, R.N., aged 73 years, formerly of St. John's, NL. June was a graduate of the Class of 1954 General Hospital School of Nursing. Predeceased by parents Herbert Sr., Gladys and brother Angus of Roxboro, PQ. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Frank E., daughters Karen Anderson (Bob Pease) of Maine and Holly Jane King (Jim), as well as grandsons Tanner and Logan King, all of Kentucky. Also, brother Herb (Shirley) of Paradise, NL; sister-in-law Hazel LeGrow of Roxboro, PQ. A service of remembrance was held on May 20, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Strong, Maine which was followed by interment at the Strong Village Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Newfoundland & Labrador Division.

Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Center on Monday, May 24, 2004, Muriel W. Andrews, in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Ralph; brothers: Morris and Jack Chapman. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons: Bob (Elizabeth), Calgary, AB, Don (Eileen), Moncton, NB and Stephen (Emir), Portugal Cove/St. Philips; beloved grandchildren: Robert (Cathy), Scott (Rob), Susan, Patricia (Russell), Lori (Roc), Mark, Neil and Kimberly (Craig); eleven cherished great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn brothers: Alison and Courtland (Tubby) Chapman; sisters-in-law: Lillian Chapman, Marg Noseworthy, Doris Andrews and Edith Splane; caregivers Tracey and Peg Byrne; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. ANTHONY, Isabel Joan "Bell" (nee Martin) -
Age 83 years. Went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 7, 2004 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Isabel was born 30 October, 1920 to Elizabeth and Henry Martin, and was a lifelong resident of St. John's. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the West End First Baptist Church and also a member of the Elim Pentecostal's 50's Plus Group. The greatest love of her life was her Saviour Jesus Christ. She devoted her life to helping others and she remained generous with giving up to the final days of her life. She leaves to treasure her memories, daughters and sons-in-law: Daphne and Donald Rentz, Deanna and Gerald O'Reilly, Judy and Randy Lundrigan and Gordon Halley; sisters: Mary Sturge and Sarah Carter; sister-in-law Daisy Martin; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as devoted cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all. She is predeceased in death by her parents, and daughter Barbara Ann Halley and two brothers, Herbert and William Martin. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Pearl, NL; Eileen Colbeck and Rob, Milton, ON; Lillian Cadwell, St. John's, NL; Enid Strong and Jim, Clarenville, NL; (the late Isabelle Hogan, Elsie Parsons and Maude Barnes, NL). Beloved grandmother of Scott, Bobby and Donna; Lise and Dan; Nicole and Dave; Nicole B.; Sean and Christine; Matthew and Julie. Adored great-grandmother of Nicholas, Vito and Victoria; sister of Eliza Emberley and Kevin; and the late Marie, Frances and Maurice Harrington, Carbonear, NL. Predeceased by his father Walter (1975) and son Stephen (May 24, 1994). Leaving to mourn his best friend and wife Muriel (Butler); sons Ted (Pat), Robert (Martina) and daughter Eleanor (Wheeler) (Eales); grandchildren Todd, Robert, Dana (Jamie Anthony), Donald Wheeler, Veronica (Michael Smith), Tony Eales, Jeffrey and Melissa Bassett; great-grandchildren Bradley Bassett, Kyle Brinston, Justin Anthony, Clinton and Billy Smith; loving cousin Mary Squires (Corcoran) who lovingly reared him to manhood; brother-in-law James Butler; sister-in-law Louise Newell (Albert). Joyce will be missed by her extended family and her many friends. We love and miss you with all our hearts. We would like to give a special thanks to Joyce's friends and neighbors around Coronation St., Lewisporte for being such good friends and neighbors. We would also like to thank the staff at the Grand Falls Hospital for their great care and friendliness. Benjamin George Knee
of Corner Brook passed away on Monday, May 10, 2004, five weeks short of his 94th birthday. He was a retired carpenter and a well known citizen of the city. He was married to Janie (Attwood) who predeceased him on August 25, 1981. They moved from Safe Harbour, Bonavista Bay to Corner Brook where they married and raised a family of thirteen children. One son Robert died in infancy. He is predeceased also by his daughters: Ena Shirran and Pearl West; sons-in-law: Hubert West and Kenneth Fisher. In 1984 Ben married Susie Lewis who survives him and is a patient on the Alzheimer's floor of Western Memorial Hospital. Margaret loved animals, especially her dog "George". She loved Newfoundland music and singing "All the old Songs". She enjoyed going fishing and taking Sunday drives in the country. Margaret spent the last year traveling to British Columbia, Florida and Mexico to attend her daughter's wedding. Even though battling breast cancer and diabetes, she laughed, loved life and her family very much. She had the biggest heart in the whole world. We will miss her greatly and will cherish all the wonderful memories we have of her. Predeceased by her father, Edward Baker, brother Frank and son, William. The Morrissey family would like to announce the celebration of life of Isobel Morrissey (nee Weltch). Isobel always felt a deep attachment to her native England (Tynemouth), where she joined the womens Royal Naval Service during the Second World War. She married a handsome sailor, Gerald Morrissey and came to Newfoundland as a War Bride over the stormy North Atlantic in 1945. Isobel and Gerry made their home in Gander where they raised their two sons Raymond and Terence. Marga joined the family as Ray's wife and became very close to her mother-in-law. Nanny shared her love with her two grandchildren Kathryn and Paul. She took them berry picking every summer and spoiled them every chance she could. Isobel took great pride in her involvement with the Royal Canadian Legion where she shared many happy times over the piano with Gerald and their friends. She was always great at caring for others, her wit and sense of humor will be remembered by all the friends and neighbours who were taken under her wing. She could always make us laugh and is world famous for her tea buns. After 54 years of marriage Isobel was predeceased by her husband Gerry. Her memory is cherished by her two sons Ray, Barrie ON, and Terry, Toronto, ON, daughter-in-law Marga, grandchildren Kathryn and Paul, sister Ethel Tailor and her many friends and neighbours. 89 years of age, of Gables Lodge, Amherst, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on May 26, 2004. Born in Saint John, N.B. she was a daughter of the late Aaron & Nora (Boggan) Tremblett. Mary had worked at the St. Elizabeth's and the Halifax Infirmary. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Faith. Mary was the last surviving member of her family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Richard. Her remains have been cremated and there will be no visitation by request. A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 31st, 2004 at 10 a.m. with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will take place in St. Charles' Nativity Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or to the charity of choice. She will be fondly remembered by all of her cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Eternally loved by her children: Kenneth, Michael (Suzanne), Montreal; Sean (Cynthia), Montreal, Kelly Ann, and their wonderful loving father Donald Kevin Fallon, formerly of Harbour Grace; grandson: Matthew Fabian Fallon; sisters: Madonna Ring, Julie Rogers (Glenn), Judith Marshall (John), Maureen Pittman (Jim); and brothers: Gord, Darrell and Paul Holley. He leaves to mourn with loving memories, his wife of 20 years, Agnes; children: Ralph (Shirley), Andy (Brenda) and Suzanne; step-children: Glenn Brown, Christine Shelley (Lloyd), Gloria Dawe (Robert), Lorraine Brown (Lloyd), Marcella Pittman (Malcolm) and Mary Lou Linehan (Jim); as well as 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who cherished Poppy and the stories he told. He will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends, especially those at Kelly's Brook Apartments.
