Rita was a very special "Grandmother", "Nan" and "Nanny" to her treasured grandchildren Lisa Grant (Rick), Chis Delaney, Jody Delaney (Juanita), Dana Smith (Craig), Linda Fowler, Stephen Wight (Karen), Tanya Snow (Calvin), Krista Ryan (Todd), Melissa Karle (Jason), Paul Hennebury (Patricia), Mark Hennebury, Kimberley Smith (Keith) and Jonathan Hennebury (Lindsay) as well 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also mourning her passing are her beloved sisters Hilda Morrissey and Ellen "Nellie" Prendergast and many special nieces and nephews of whom she was proud to be "Aunt Rita". Rita was especially proud to call Cupids her home and when asked by her caregivers where she was from she would always answer: I'm from "Historic Cupids". She will forever be remembered as a kind, caring and generous lady who would always put the needs of her family and others before herself. Her home will be remembered as a welcoming retreat for the many visits from family and friends, You could smell the freshly baked tea buns as you walked in the door and no matter how many would show up for a Sunday visit, there was always more than enough to feed each and everyone. Years of practice raising five children on her own endowed her with special gifts of compassion, ingenuity, resourcefulness. Rita was dedicated to her faith and loved her Church (St. Patrick's) where had dedicated many hours of service in stewardship. Her faith was profound and a source of great comfort over the years. Rita had many friends in Cupids many of whom have also passed. She was a seamstress to many and was known for her sewing handiwork. Friends and family would count on her to make minor and major adjustments to garments and no one was ever denied or disappointed in the outcome. Her creative sewing ranged from mending small items and to making wedding and bridal party dresses. Rita took great pride in her home and enjoyed her garden and sitting in her swing on summer days. Special thank you to the South view staff at The Agnes Pratt Home for their care and compassion to our Mom during her stay. Resting at Broughton's Funeral Home, Brigus. Visitation for family on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 6-7 P.M. and for the public from 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M., Thursday, May May 10, 2018 from 12-1 P.M. DUNPHY, Clem
Born: October 12th, 2018
Passed on: May 16th, 2018

Passed peacefully away with beloved family by his side at Chancellor Park long term care home on May 16, 2018, Clem Dunphy. Born October 12, 1931, Clem is predeceased by Betty, his true love and wife of over 61 years, his parents Will and Mary Dunphy of Tors Cove, his sisters Joan and Helen and his brother Billy. Leaving behind with wonderful memories are his sons Kevin (Diane) and Keith (Michele) and his daughter Karen Duval (Steve); his adored grandchildren Nicole Butler (Brett), Kimber, William, Wyatt, Marc-Antoine, Alexis and the newest edition to his family, great-granddaughter Charlotte Butler. Also left to mourn are his sisters Fran Halley (Denis), Biddy O'Keefe (Pierre), Anne Hobson (Gerald), Rose Connors, Marie Harding, and brother Paul (Zita). Friends, nieces, nephews and extended family are too numerous to mention though all were dearly loved and will mourn his passing.
Clem founded Dunphy Molloy & Associates in 1974 and grew it into a thriving business. He was extremely proud to see his eldest son take over the business in 1993 and eventually retired in 2000. Clem was active in many clubs and societies committed to the betterment of his city and it's residents - Jaycees, Rotary, the MUN Board of regents just to name a few. Clem was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him. A natural storyteller, he captivated a room with a recitation, a joke or a 'yarn'. He always chuckled at a funny comment and made a quick-witted reply whenever he saw an opening. He was delighted to know that he passed his sense of humour to all three of his children. If you were to ask Clem, he would tell you that the best thing he ever did was marry Betty. Theirs is a true love story spanning well over 60 years. In November of 2016, he lost his soulmate and, with it, a part of himself. Without her, his health declined until he finally went to be with her again for eternity.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 and 2-4, 7-9 P.m. Monday the 21st. A Silent Tear
Just close your eyes and you will see,
All the memories that you have of me.
Just sit and relax and you will find,
I'm really still there inside your mind.
Don't cry for me now I'm gone,
For I am in the land of song.
There is no pain, there is no fear
So dry away that silent tear.
Don't think of me in the dark and cold,
For here I am, no longer old.
I'm in that place that's filled with love,
Known to you all, as "up above".

HOBBS, Beulah Johnson
Born In: Little Catalina, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Born: June 23rd, 1933
Passed in: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: May 1st, 2018

It is with profound regret that the family of Beulah Johnson Hobbs announce her sudden passing on Tuesday May 1st 2018 at age 84. She was at peace with her life, one spent loving and giving beyond measure, expecting nothing in return. A beloved teacher of 20 years and successful real estate business owner for 20 more, she merited enormous respect, appreciation, adoration and love by all those whose lives she touched. An avid reader, brilliant story-teller, writer of poetry, and a life-long interest in politics and world news, she was rarely at a loss for words. One of her finest qualities was her sense of humour and her ability to laugh out loud at her own boo-boos and blunders. A social butterfly to the end, she was always ready for Euchre, Scrabble, trivia, learning a new craft, or simply chatting, sharing the stories of her life in her beloved Newfoundland & Labrador, a life for which she was ever grateful.
The depth of her love for those she held dear was immeasurable and she seized every opportunity to tell them so. Predeceased by her parents Fanny (Stead) and Jim Johnson, husband Allan, infant son Brian, brother Victor, daughter-in-law Margaret, sister-in-law Jean, brothers-in-law Raymond and Karl. Loving Mom to Cheryl (Tom Jordan), Marilyn, Rod (Eileen) and Corey. Proud Nan to Scott (Kayla), Eva, Terri Lynn (Josh), Brittany, Lindsay (Tom) and Kristy-Lee (Nick). Also left with fond and loving memories: sisters Grace Baker (Alvin) and Myrtle Dalton (Lloyd); brother Larry (Joy Maddigan); brothers-in-law Wince (Elsie) and Arthur (Ruby); a long loving list of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends in Newfoundland and Labrador, and many dear friends and fellow residents at Windsor Park Manor. Special thanks to the nursing team, staff and volunteers at Windsor Park Manor who afforded Beulah an incredibly happy, joy-filled, heart-warming final six years of her amazing life. At her request, a celebration of life will take place in the chapel at Windsor Park Manor, 990 Hunt Club, Ottawa, ON K1V 8S8, on Saturday 12 May 2018 at 2:00PM

POWER, Thomas Zachary Ernest
Passed on: May 8th, 2018
Of Branch, NL

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on May 8, 2018, at age 35. Tommy leaves to mourn his parents Tom and Ernestine (O'Rourke) Power, his caretaker and best friend Jason James, his four loving sisters Shylo (Walter), Nadia (Matthew), Rebecca (Daryl), Angie (Darren); nieces Jessica, Breanna, Avalon, Sophia, Charlotte, Anna and nephew Rourke. Tommy also had a large and extended family and special friend Brittany. Born with severe Cerebral Palsy and given 24 hours to live, he has faced every obstacle put in his path, which have been many, with courage, strength and the love of his family. He was cracked about chocolate, snuggles, tickles and the sound of his mother's voice. And he had the best laugh! He loved going for drives with Jason, and listening to his niece Avalon playing music. He taught all who knew and loved him what strength and courage and grace really meant. The world really and truly is a lesser place now that he has left it. The family would ask that in lieu of flowers you will lend a hand and keep a loving heart when you meet someone who is different. The joy and love and reward is worth it. Just ask anyone who knew Tommy. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Manning's Funeral Service. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Church in Branch starting at 2 pm on Friday, May 11. A service for family and friends to share memories will take place at 7 pm in the church. His funeral will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, May 12, with interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Branch. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.mahersfuneralhome.ca

SEVIOUR, George
Passed on: May 16th, 2018
Dr. George R. Seviour
, aged 92 years, has passed away peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Treasured and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, George was cherished by his wife Alice Seviour, daughters Catherine, Susan (Bill) and Jane, grandchildren Sara and Gregory, and many nieces and nephews. He will lovingly be remembered by his brother Jim, sister Margaret, sister-in-law Marie and the Tobin family. Predeceased by his brother Bob, sister Mary, and infant son George Richard. George is fondly remembered as an irreplaceable member among his close circle of friends; comprised of The Lang's, Power's, Thompson's, Collins' and William's. George began his impressive academic journey in his hometown of St. John's Newfoundland; graduating in high standing from St. Patrick's and St. Bonaventure College in the early 1940's and then again from MUN in 1946 with a degree in Pre-Engineering. He then ventured to Nova Scotia, earning his degree in mechanical engineering. George brought his expertise to various mills in Montreal, Shawinigan, South Carolina and Grand Falls-Windsor but after several years in the engineering field, George bravely followed his heart and went to Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland and earned his medical degree in 1963. It was within the following 41 years of service as a family physician that his instinct of compassion could truly be felt by his community. Whether he was waking early to bring new life into the world or staying late to tend to a patient, his devotion was strongly valued by those around him until his retirement in 2005. But above all, his love for his wife and three girls was insurmountable, and his legacy of kindness and grace lives on through them and their many high achievements. The family would also like to extend immense thanks to Judy Miller for her gracious care given over the past three years and to the staff at Saint Patrick's Mercy Home, especially the recreation and music therapists, for the exceptional role they played in bringing much joy to his life. Visitation will be held at Caul's Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road, on Friday May 18 from 11-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X at 1 pm on Saturday May 19 and all are invited to the reception to follow at St. Pius X Parish Hall. TAYLOR, Shirley Voisey
Passed on: May 2nd, 2018

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mrs. Shirley Eunice Voisey Taylor, age 92, of Blairsville, Georgia, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, May 2nd, 2018. Mrs. Taylor was born on Sunday, January 17, 1926, in St. John's, Newfoundland, to the late Richard H. and Winifred Bowden Voisey. Having grown up together, on Thursday, August 5th, 1949, Shirley married her best friend and high school sweetheart, Gordon W. Taylor. Little did they know it was the beginning of an amazing adventure and love story that would take them to Orlando, Florida, where they would lovingly raise five children together. Mrs. Taylor gave new meaning to the titles of Mom, Wife and Homemaker, because she truly did make a home filled with love for family. Shirley did many things in her life. She attended the model school and Bishop Spencer in St. John's, as well as being an avid bowler and swimmer. She had an exceptional talent for cooking, baking and keeping up with her four boys, also known as "The Savages". With those four boys she also managed to raise her little girl into a lady, sparing none of the important words of wisdom that a good mother speaks to her daughter. But more than anything else, Shirley was known for her kind, loving and genuine personality, which was so bright it could light up the darkest of times and places. Having gone on to be with her parent, two brothers: Douglas and William; and her sister Allison; Shirley will be remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her husband of 68 years Gordon W. Taylor; children: Glen Taylor (Rita), Lance Taylor (Laurie), Brad Taylor (Kim), Gay Burke (Jeff) and Rod Taylor (Linda). Also sharing in her legacy are her grandchildren: Carmen, Michelle, Jessie, Tricia, Gordon, Justin, Kyle, Mandy, Emily, Becca, Rachael, and Travis, as well as her great-grandchildren: Riley, Kailey, Annalise, Aden and Easton. There are no services scheduled at this time. Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville is honored to be serving in charge of arrangements. Please sign the online guest registry at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com
