BRADLEY William A. (Bill), 79
Published: May 25, 2019
January 17, 1940 - May 21, 2019

The Duke has hung up his spurs How in a few paragraphs do you write about a life fully lived? We will try -The formal bits - Born the youngest of 8 children to Kenneth and Irene Bradley of Sandringham, Newfoundland. Predeceased by sisters: Phyllis Crisby (Rex), Marjorie Hallett (Thomas), Lorna Stuckless (Gord); Brothers: Kenneth (Josephine), Patrick (Melva), Rayfield (Joan). Survived by sister Helene Osmond (Jim). Married into the Pinsent Clan. Walter Pinsent (Norma), Garry Pinsent (Barbara), Junior Pinsent (Gloria), Judy Bragg and Hilda Buckles (Casey). Predeceased by In-laws Adolphus and Amanda Pinsent, Glenn Pinsent, Lillian Pinsent, Art Bragg and Gary Fowlow. Remembered and loved by too many nieces and nephews to mention. Fresh out of high school he was a teacher for a short time in Trout River, Bonne Bay. Later in 1959 at the age of 19 became a Constable with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary for a period of 5 years. A job that never fully left him. Eventually he made his mark in the automobile industry. Eventually in 1977 with partner Dave Morgan started Toyota Plaza Limited and in their 25 plus years of ownership would eventually grow to become the largest import car dealership in Atlantic Canada. He often noted that this success was not done alone but with the help of staff whom he considered the finest group of employees in the industry.
The greatest love of his life was his family, wife of 52 years Sandra (Pinsent); son Trevor; daughters: Vanessa and Jennifer. Daughter-in-law Denise; son-in-laws Oyvind Hagen and Stephen Bartlett. The true sunshine of his life was his 9 grandchildren. Grace, Claire and Charlotte Bradley. Einar, Annelise and Maya Hagen. Avah, Oliver and Isabel Bartlett. All of whom he loved "Tons". If you wanted to see a proud man, you'd only have to look at dad at the head of the dining room table with the whole family present.
If dad had one true passion it was horses. Most people have been on a horse but not many know how to ride. Dad was one of the finest horsemen that ever swung a leg over a saddle. He was first introduced to them as a child and over the course of almost 50 years owned some 12. This passion led to forming the Newfoundland Trail Riders Association, this group of like minded individuals would enjoy local weekend and week long rides and ventured out of province to such locations as the deserts of Utah, rode the Pony Express Trail in Wyoming but most often it was Banff, Alberta where for 20 plus years their biennial ride would be the cause of great celebration by members and outfitter alike. Not a religious man, he felt that if there was such thing as God he was most likely to be found while on horseback enjoying wildlife and the beauty of nature. If you met our father for the first time you might be intrigued by the cowboy boots and Stetson hat. Not often found in Newfoundland it could be perceived as being an act but it was in fact all him. For dad it was as natural as breathing, he was cowboy to the core. For us, it was normal. He never owned a pair of shoes, unless you consider the white Velcro jobbies that he'd buy in Florida every year to walk the beach. Nor a pair of shorts, the world was just not ready to view those skinny white legs. He wanted his shirts to have pearl snap buttons, suits to be western and jeans to be Wranglers. We joked more than once that he must have been a reincarnated gunfighter that was killed 150 years ago in the old west. That was one of our ways to try to explain dad's uniqueness. Upon retirement from the car business he combined his involvement with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary with his love of horses and was instrumental in re-establishing the RNC Mounted Unit. Donating a trailer, riding gear and the first two "Nobles", horses Vince and Townsend. His enormous support of the RNC eventually led to being appointed the rank of Honorary Inspector by the force. He loved good music and appreciated talent when he saw it. He was an exceptional self-taught accordion and harmonica player and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the Trail Riders band "The Hoof Beats". Many a jam would involve a few "snorts" and if you were lucky enough you might hear a 10 minute long version of George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today" or Willie's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. He loved a good game of Texas Hold 'em, turkey dinner with mom's gravy, his annual trip to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, a "Dark and Dirty" of dark Captain Morgan, Pepsi, big ice cubes with a squeeze of lime in a proper stemmed glass. He made a mean Caesar, cooked rabbit dinner and strong cowboy coffee. His yell of "Boy Howdy's!", "God Damns!" And toast of "Here's to Ourselves!" was a crowd pleaser and bringer of smiles. He had a handshake that could bring you to your knees. When he said he was going to do something, he did it. Hated "no" or "can't" for an answer. Would give you the shirt off his back, and often did. If he liked you, you knew it and if he didn't it's a good chance you knew that too and his squeeze of your shoulder or pat on the back meant as much as a hug. He provided the world to his family, taught valuable life lessons to his kids and always led by example. Believe it or not, he was stubborn at times (ha ha) and believed that with hard work anything could be accomplished. Right up until the end he did everything "his" way, stoic in every sense of the word. If someone were to ask our dad on any given day how he was he would always respond with "I'm perfect". Now health wise, we know this was not always the case and we also know there is no man without their flaws, but to us, the ones he loved and loved him back in return he was exactly that, perfect. The Bradley family would like to thank the medical staff of St. Clare's. Especially, Dr. Emily Rowsell and all the "angels without wings" on 6 East. The tremendous outpourings of prayers, thoughts and messages from friends and family have truly touched our hearts. Not wanting to be fussed about, as per dad's request, there will be no funeral or visitation but at some point in the near future we'll be having a celebration of his wonderful life. This is not a time to be sad but be thankful for the fabulous 79 years he had.

BUFFINGA Oebele Jan (John)
Published: May 29, 2019

Passed peacefully away on May 27 after a short illness, Oebele Jan (John) Buffinga, aged 65. Predeceased by parents Doeke and Hinke (Tolsma) Buffinga and brother-in-law Ron Burgsma. Left heart-broken but with many cherished memories are his husband Jeff Butt and his "meiske," daughter Henny (fiancé Andrew Ward). Also left to mourn are brother Bert (Susan), and sisters Gerda Burgsma and Grace (John) Fuerth and their families, all in Ontario, as well as parents-in-law Clarence and Elaine Butt, brother-in-law Brian (Jennifer) Butt and sister-in-law Allison (Brad) Coles and families, special friends Jerry Dick and Ralph Jarvis, and a large circle of relatives and friends in Newfoundland, across Canada and in his native Netherlands.Known to many simply as John, Oebele was born in Lutjegast, Groningen province in 1954, and immigrated with his family to Ontario at the age of 14. From a farming background, Oebele received his PhD from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and began a 34-year career teaching German language, literature, culture and film at Memorial University's Grenfell Campus in 1985, before moving to the main campus in St. John's in 1990.In addition to his duties as an Associate Professor, Oebele served several terms as Department Head, earning the respect of colleagues and the adoration of students. Oebele was also an avid walker, hiker and traveler, and was an all-round decent, well-liked, hard-working and stunningly handsome no-nonsense good guy.Immensely proud of his Dutch heritage, he visited the Netherlands as often as he could. In fact, he often said he felt more Dutch as he got older. Not surprising given his Dutch heritage, Oebele's true passion was gardening and reshaping Newfoundland's seemingly impossible landscapes into stunning, lush havens. While he loved nature, he was always more intrigued by our ability as humans to improve upon it and co-exist with it in creative and aesthetically pleasing ways. In accordance with Oebele's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his beautiful but too short life will be planned for a later date. Jeff and Henny would like to thank Drs. Dawn Armstrong and Noreen Fardy and, especially, Community Health Nurse Kimberley Collins, as well as numerous other health care professionals, for the care and compassion shown to Oebele in his final weeks. Welterusten, Oebele.

CECILL, Robert (Bob)
Died peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday May 7th, in the hospital on Salt Spring Island, where he had resided for 34 years. Bob was born on September 3rd, 1942, in Massachusetts, USA. He was educated at Phillips Academy, Andover, and Colgate University. He trained as a US Marine but worked as a taxi driver, emergency room attendant, and insurance salesman, in Boston. In 1969 he attended Woodstock with his new wife Bet Ladd and subsequently moved to Montreal, where he worked with troubled youth in the employ of Gale Burford. Thereafter, he and Bet moved to Old Fort, Labrador, an outport fishing village, where he was the head teacher and hockey coach at the local school. There they fished, hunted, and sailed as part of the local community. Bob then lived in St. John's and on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. He built his first house at Tracy's Pinch and lived there for a dozen or so years. In that time he made lasting contributions to the local Newfoundland arts scene and formed close friendships with Ann Anderson, Scott Goudie, Jana Vannan, and others. In 1980 he and Lynda Laushway welcomed their first son, Christopher, who was followed by Matthew in 1982. In 1984 they moved to Salt Spring Island, BC, where Bob made his home for the rest of his life. He was joined there by his mother's brother, "Uncle Bob" (Robert E. Hooker). On Salt Spring, he continued his contributions to community life through organizing, coaching, and officiating local youth sports. He also shared time there with Anna Hawthorne and her son John. Along with his close friend, Ronan White, Bob developed, built, and renovated properties on the island. He also purchased land on Lasqueti Island where he created Long Bay Farms with Ronan, Jana, and others. In 1999, Bob and Ronan formed Energy Options, an alternative energy product installer and dealer. They were among the first alternative energy professionals in the Gulf Islands. In April 2000, Bob's house on Beddis Rd. burned down and he lost his beloved dog, Roger. When he rebuilt, he was joined by Rosemary Ommer, with whom he travelled five continents, as well as sailing on his schooner, Hispaniola II. They also sailed on his second boat, Tin Lizzie, around HaidaGwaii and the Salish Sea. Bob and Rosemary shared the new Beddis Rd. house from 2000 until his death. Bob had battled failing health in his final years, coping characteristically with dry humour and stamina. He will be dearly loved and greatly missed and remembered by Chris, Matt, Alex, and Rosemary, and by many friends across Canada and beyond. A celebration of Bob's life, in the company of his friends, will be held from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, June 2nd. Please join us in remembering him at his home, 1203 Beddis Rd. It will be informal, as Bob would have wanted.

LONO Simon N.
Published: May 27, 2019

Passed away on May 24, 2019, at the age of 56. Consistent with his character, Simon turned his struggle with Myelofibrosis into an opportunity to advocate, standing up for patients whose rare disorders had been neglected by healthcare systems and governments. This continued his lifelong legacy of improving public discourse in this province and country. Simon always made his trenchant, witty voice heard in public debates on the economic, political and social issues that matter in Newfoundland & Labrador. He also had an international awareness which helped him to process and prioritize important issues at home. He helped refine and clarify the voices of others, preparing political leaders and candidates for debates, drafting policy options and legislation, writing speeches for Premiers, Ministers and Opposition members, and giving wise counsel and advice (whether his insight was popular or not) to anyone who needed it. Simon was most passionate about passing on those skills to young people. Hundreds of current and former students have benefitted from the countless hours he volunteered his intellect, humor and compassion to teach them public speaking, debating, and model parliament. He taught them to tear apart ideas instead of people, to prefer a joke over a fist pounding the table, and to shake hands with the other side at the end. Above all, he was a dedicated family man: a loving son; steadfast brother; proud, adoring father and step-father; and delighted grandfather. His deepest joy came from family meals, cooked and eaten in good humour. Simon was predeceased by his parents Simon and Yolande (née Quesnel) Lono and brother Gordon. He is survived by his wife Deirdre Greene Lono, children Simon and Diana, step-children Sarah (Simon) and Samuel (Katie), brothers Norman (Sarah) and Marc (Rhonda), nephews Vance and Anthony, and niece Bianca. Simon's family thanks his dedicated medical team for their tireless efforts. A memorial service will be arranged for summer 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by cheque to the Newfoundland and Labrador Speech and Debate Union, by mail to 11 Hansen Place, Paradise, NL, A1L 2C4.

Dad, you were a passionate and determined educator in the province for 35 years, and this passion and determination continued throughout your lifetime and was particularly evident during your recent battle with cancer. While facing many challenges over the last two years, you maintained an optimistic and oftentimes humorous outlook that has been a significant source of strength for the family in dealing with our deep sense of loss. She is further predeceased by her brother Roger; her brother-in-law Gerry Everard and her former husband Paul Brophy. Her bereaved loved ones include her daughter Kira-Ni; sisters Frances, Peggy and Yvonne; sister-in-law June; brothers Pat (Mary), Cyril (Hilda), Basil (Claudine), Tony (Zay), Philip (Karen), Ron, and Danny (Theresa); 16 nephews and nieces, especially her god-daughters Rita Everard and Sandy Murphy; numerous grand-nephews, nieces, and large numbers of friends, both in St. John's and Marystown, with special inclusion of Anne Coady, Debbie Downey, and Sandra Gillingham. Madonna was a woman of admirable qualities, but above all else she was a devoted mother. In 1998 she traveled to the People's Republic of China to adopt her daughter Kira-Ni, who would become the joy and focus of her life. She raised her daughter in Marystown where, after motherhood, she practiced her other love - teaching. Madonna taught for 30 years at Sacred Heart Primary School, influencing generations of her young students. Her teaching and academic credentials included both a B.A. and a B.Ed. from Memorial University. However, her true success in all of her passions came from her heart, her sense of humour, her determination, and her ability to care for others. On this Mother's Day weekend, we are comforted in the fact that she is reunited with her own mother. The Murphy family extend sincerest gratitude to the staff and residents of the Bonaventure Retirement Home, to Andy at Home Hardware in Marystown, to Caul's Funeral Home staff, Father Cecil Critch, and the parish of Corpus Christi Church. PATEY, Edmund Warren Leslie
January 18, 1926 - May 30, 2019
Edmund (Ted) Patey
was born in St. Anthony on January 18, 1926, to Leslie and Amelia (Ash) Patey. Ted married the love of his life, Gladys Tucker in 1950. Together, they built a home and raised three children, Glenn, Kathy and Janice. Their home was always open to the neighbourhood children, many of whom have returned to visit over the years. The latest children to bring joy to his life were his five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He looked forward to their visits and they all cherished every moment they spent together. As a young boy growing up in Northern Newfoundland Ted loved and embraced winter. He often spoke with pride of his dog teams, his days spent on skis, the boil-ups with friends at Bartlett's Steady, his many trips to Long Pond and the much anticipated Sports Day on the harbour. He especially loved kicking football (soccer) on the harbour ice or in the fields near the hospital. In later years, he enjoyed his summer vacations around Atlantic Canada camping and exploring with family and friends. His cabins at Long Pond and Pistolet Bay brought him together with friends and provided much joy and relaxation. He loved to plant his vegetable gardens and watch them grow over the summer. He always said that he lived through many eras of transportation from dog teams and boats to snowmobiles, cars and airplanes. Once he was introduced to motorized transportation, he developed a new passion which led to a career as engineer of the hospital ship 'Maraval'. He always said "Before roads, the sea was our highway". He spent many summers travelling the Labrador Coast and Northern Newfoundland with doctors and nurses who provided medical assistance. He said that he even learned to take and develop x-rays on the Maraval. Ted often recounted one eventful trip when the Maraval encountered a hurricane near Saglek Bay. In order to save the vessel, he and another crewman rowed ashore in 18 ft waves to attach a line. This event was documented by a photojournalist who was on board and the story was published in Life Magazine issued September 19, 1949. Another venture he talked about was when he was asked by Dr Curtis to travel to Boston to bring the new hospital boat, Albert T Gould, back to St. Anthony. He was the only Canadian on board. He carried his love of engines to shore, where he was Mechanic and later the Vehicle Operations Manager at the Grenfell Mission garage. He serviced every type of engine including St. Anthony's first fire engine, a 1929 Model A truck. He remained in this position until 1991, when he retired after 48 years with the International Grenfell Association/GRHS. Ted still found time for recreation and was one of the founding members of the St. Anthony Athletic Club. The club established and maintained the first outdoor rink and was instrumental in the building of the St. Anthony Olympia. Ted spent countless hours maintaining the water pumps and generators at the arena. He was described as a valuable asset and great contributor and in 2005 was inducted into the St. Anthony Recreational Hall of Fame as a Builder. He was a real historian and had an amazing ability to recollect with accuracy any event that he encountered throughout his life. He has been interviewed by several authors and has provided essential information for them to complete their writings about Northern Newfoundland and Labrador. Listening to him tell stories of his lifelong adventures will be sadly missed by family, friends and all that knew him. He is survived by his children Glenn, Kathy (Colin Morris), Janice (Paul Kattenbusch); grandchildren Danielle (Joshua Cole), Shawna Morris (Albert Rand), Lauren, Brooke and Nicholas Kattenbusch; great grandchild Patrick Cole; sister Violet Decker, and brother Dennis Patey (Dorothy). He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Gladys, his sisters Mary Belle Patey and Rosalie Spurrell. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral was held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the United Church in St. Anthony with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the Fishing Point Untied Cemetery. Donations of to the Alzheimer's Society in loving memory of Mr. Patey's late wife, Gladys, are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey, Funeral Director.

TRICKETT Steven
Published: May 31, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steven Trickett, our beloved father, husband and son, in Ottawa, ON, at the young age of 35 years old. 'Trickett' had the ability to walk into a room and make everyone feel important and special. He was silly and foolish and had a special gift for making people laugh. His random acts of kindness were done without expecting anything in return and it gave him no greater joy than to put others before himself. His family and life-long friends meant the world to him and he had a sense of adventure and determination that was admired by so many. In his short time with us, he had experienced more than many get to experience in an entire lifetime. Steven and the love of his life, Jessica, shared a friendship and love like no other. They lived their lives on their terms, which saw them living all across Canada, swimming with great white sharks in South Africa, sitting on the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia, sleeping with lions in the Serengeti, zip-lining in the jungles of Thailand, Skydiving in Australia and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef. Steven's heart grew indescribably the day his daughter Stella was born. She was the brightest light in his life and nothing made him happier than hearing her laugh, seeing her smile, and dancing with her in the kitchen while singing 'My Girl' together. His second child, due this August, will be sure to know what an amazing father and human he was. He loved nothing more than calling his parents on the phone multiple times a day, chatting with his sister and was happiest with a cold beer in his hand watching his beloved Maple Leafs. He was a proud Newfoundlander and a true gentleman. His loss will be felt by so many friends and family all over the world. Leaving to mourn, his wife and best friend, Jessica Foley; daughter: Stella Trickett and soon-to-be born Baby Trickett; parents: Ross and Bernadette Trickett; sister: Melanie Trickett; special uncle: Mike Reynolds; in-laws: Janette Burry, Brian Foley and Taryn Gillis-Foley; brothers-in-law: Simon and Evan Foley; as well as dear family and close friends too countless to name. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, blood donation through Canadian Blood Services, a cause close to his heart.
Lastly, take Steven's zest for life and his kind, accepting heart as inspiration in your own lives. Do something today that you've been putting off, take a chance on something that scares you, and tell those close to you that you love them.

These values, along with his intellect and determination, guided him during his early career as a teacher and throughout his long and distinguished career in politics and public service. Starting out as the Member for Fogo and later Bonavista North, Beaton held numerous positions in both opposition and government and notably served as the 7th Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. Never content to be still for long, his "retirement" years were filled with consulting, writing his memoirs, and travelling to visit family and friends with his beloved Dora.Beaton's unmistakable laugh filled every room he entered. His zest for life, fun-loving nature, gift to tell stories, and genuine interest in talking to everyone he met drew people to him wherever he went. Generous and kind, he loved nothing better than a good game of cards, particularly 500s or poker. An avid hockey fan, he would give an enthusiastic shout when watching the Montreal Canadiens score a goal. He never missed a moose-hunting season or a chance to cook up a big meal for a crowd. He thoroughly enjoyed Western movies, listening to country music while driving his big red truck, and woodworking; he was known to put up a patio in what seemed like no time at all. Always the person we could turn to for help when life got tough, he was truly one-of-a-kind and will be dearly missed. WALKER James Donald "JD"
Published: June 01, 2019
(1935-2019)

Peacefully on Monday May 6, 2019, James Donald "JD" Walker passed away with family by his side at the Portage and District General Hospital, Manitoba at the age of 83 years. Don (JD) was a resident of Mount Pearl from 1948-1955, the beloved oldest son of Irene Walker Murrin. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955. JD/Dad will be lovingly remembered by his son Mitchell (Glory) Walker; wife Marlene Walker; sister Patricia Murrin (Mike Conant); sister-in-law Eleanor Smith, granddaughter Mandy (Peter) Sharkey; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Zoe Lavallee; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends across Canada and the United States. He was predeceased by his parents James Walker and Irene (Payne) Walker Murrin, step-dad Hubert Murrin, step-dad George Sharpe, and brothers John Walker and Dr. George Levi Sharpe. JD was born in Noranda, Québec on November 9, 1935. While JD was barely one year old, his father was accidentally electrocuted at work and young JD and his mother moved back to her native Newfoundland. They initially resided with her father John Payne at Charlie's Head, then with her mother Harriett Ann at adjacent Port aux Basques. JD's brother John was born shortly after their arrival back in Newfoundland. The Walker brothers were a mischievous duo as they proceeded through their young lives. Irene later wed George Sharpe, a Newfoundland Ranger posted in Burgeo. They later transferred to Glenwood, and then to Burgeo again. While in Burgeo in 1944, Irene and "Dad-George" welcomed JD's half-brother George Levi Sharpe. In 1947, Irene and George Sr. made the long trip via coastal boat and train to seek medical attention for him in St. John's; sadly, George Sr. passed away during surgery. Irene again moved her three boys back to Port aux Basques, residing with Irene's sister Laura (Payne) Bennett, their mother, and family. It was in Port aux Basques that JD had his first paid job, cutting out cod tongues for 10 cents a pound! Irene later moved with her three boys to Whitbourne, George Sr.'s hometown where he had family who helped with the boys. A kindly local man, Forest Warden Hubert Murrin, supplied Irene and her boys with firewood. Eventually, Irene and Hubert wed, and he received a new posting near the town of Mount Pearl. Their three-room cottage in Mount Pearl was less than adequate for the five-member family and soon to arrive sister, Amelia Patricia. Hubert expanded the home by three rooms and he, Irene and the boys cut down most of the trees on their property to make a garden. JD and John earned money by going door to door selling bunches of produce. JD enrolled in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces on September 1, 1955. JD met his wife Marlene at the Macdonald Air Force Base in Manitoba, married in 1959, and then were transferred to Barrie, Ontario. He transferred to CFB Portage la Prairie, MB in 1964. From 1966 to 1968 he served with the RCAF Golden Centenaires aerobatic display team as a telecommunications technician. He also served in many capacities with the Southport, MB Carnival committee, Junior Ranks Mess, mess manager, bar officer, and entertainment chairman. As a resident of Portage la Prairie, he was President and Treasurer of the Northside Athletic Club. JD was also an active member of the Portage SCUBA Club. From 1977 to 1978, JD served as a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Damascus, Syria. As a "Blue Beret", JD also maintained his military duties as part of the 116 ATU squadron. In 1988, the "Blue Beret" United Nations Peacekeeping Forces were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and JD's Peace Prize document was proudly displayed on the wall of his residence. His last RCAF posting was at Comox, BC where he was a member of the 442 Search and Rescue squadron. JD retired from the RCAF in 1981 as a Master Corporal after a 26-year career. JD then relocated to Victoria, BC and started his second career as a Certified Financial Planner after graduating with an Arts Diploma in Business Administration (Finance) from Camosun College. During his time in Victoria, JD displayed his love of the sea; he owned and operated two boats moored at the Oak Bay Marina. His first boat was named "With a Client" and his second was called "Just Dandy". There were many pleasure cruises and fishing trips with family and friends aboard these vessels. JD spent 36 years in Victoria, leaving in 2017 to reside with his son Mitchell and daughter-in-law Glory until his passing. JD will be missed and remembered as a kind, witty and wise man, well-read and well-travelled! Funeral Service was led by Rev. John Dolloff on Friday, May 17, 2019 at McKenzie's Funeral Chapel in Portage la Prairie. A slide show of JD's life can be viewed at https://www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com/notices/JamesJD-Walker As an expression of sympathy, if friends so desire, donations may be made in JD's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, https://www.heartandstroke.ca   A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
