BAIRD, Donald - Passed peacefully but suddenly away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Dr. G.B. Cross in Clarenville on November 27, 2004, Donald Baird of Clarenville in his 65th year. Predeceased by his mother (1977) and his father (1941). Left with fond and loving memories his wife Linda of 42 years. Daughter Donna Lynn (Paul) of Clarenville. Sons Alexander (Lorrie) of Lethbridge, David (Daphne) of Milton, Kevin (Laurie) of Lethbridge. Special thanks to his brother-in-law Frederick (Helen) Churchill of Clarenville. Sisters-in-law Rosalind Church of Clarenville and Olive (Colin) Chisholm of Antigonish, N.S. and a large number of step-brothers and step-sisters. Grandchildren Donald Baird Jr., Samantha Baird, and a large family of his trucking buddies, relatives and friends. Funeral was held on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Anglican Church with Interment at Interdenominational Cemetery in Clarenville. He was a member of The Royal Armed Forces Tank Division #SN3365. No flowers by request.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ralph Ball announce his passing on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at his daughter's residence in his 83rd year. He will be sadly missed with fond and loving memories by his children: Florence (Roy) Park of Deer Lake, Cecilia Ed Highmore of Pasadena, Valda (Bill) Caines of Mt. Pearl; four sons: Randell (Ruby) of Mt. Pearl, Bernard (Wendy) of Deer Lake, Chris (Paula) of Lower Sackville and Ralph Jr. (Lori) of Deer Lake; fourteen grandchildren: Jaimie, Heidi, Heather, Nicole, Stephen (Charlaine), Jennifer, Karen, Charles, Kerri, Brenda, Michelle, Ashlee, Richard and Ryan; four brothers: Dempsey Ball, Harold (Rowena), Ward Jr. (Ramona), all of Deer Lake, Ivan (Gareen) of Kitimat, B.C.; four sisters: Mona (Roy) Campbell of Deer Lake, Dulcie (Cecil) Parsons of Weston, Ontario, Grace (Jabez) Critch of Pasadena and Eleanor Ball of Deer Lake; his sisters-in-law: Belle McDonald, Florence Healey and Doris White; Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen (nee Healey), parents: Ward and Dulcie Ball and a large circle of sisters and brothers-in-law. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake today, Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Deer Lake with Father Aiden Devine officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. By request of the family in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the W.M.R. Hospital Cancer Centre for Prostate Cancer Research. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, Deer Lake.

Miller Centre, Francis Oliver Bastow, age 72 years. Predeceased by sons, Gary in 1994 and Danny in 2004; brothers: Bud and Norman; sister: Elizabeth. A veteran of the Korean War with the Canadian Army and member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 1. Passed away suddenly, but peacefully, Saturday Nov. 6, 2004. David Samuel Cahill, age 52. Predeceased by his mother Kathleen Cahill. Leaving to mourn his beloved children: daughter Krista (Seoul, Korea), son Robert and their mother Margie (nee Cochrane); also missing him are his sisters and brothers: Noel Keough, Marjorie Keough, Margaret Stokes, Madonna Spurrell, Cathy Mullett, Paul Keough, Pat Keough and families; sister-in-law Eleanor Making (Harry), Saint John, N.B., and his many nieces and nephews. HAYNES, Wynyard Russell, P.Eng.
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2004, Wynyard (Wyn) Russell Haynes. Born on March 6th, 1923 in Edinburgh, Scotland. After working for seven years in Burma and Borneo he came to Canada. In 1956 he moved to Newfoundland from Winnipeg. Wyn held several positions while working for the provincial government. He worked for the Department of Highways (bridges), Power Commission (Baie de Espoir Project), Environment (Chief Engineer) and Municipal Affairs (ADM Technical Services). As director of the Newfoundland Government Association Wyn was proposed by the local union to stand for president of N.A.P.E. Wyn also made one attempt at a seat on St. John's city council and was also a past president of the Association of Professional Engineers of Newfoundland. Wyn retired in 1988. Predeceased by, but never forgotten, his son Edward in 1977. Leaving behind to mourn is his very loving wife Bridgette (Martin) Haynes, Wynyard (son) and Jackie Haynes and granddaughter Allison, Susan Keizer (daughter) and husband Roger residing in P.E.I., Nancy Liddell (daughter) and granddaughter Alana residing in Brampton, Ontario, Miranda Fothergill (daughter) and husband Mark, and grandchildren Mathew and March, Shirley Cope (sister) residing in Essex, U.K., Charles (nephew), Sarrah (niece) and dearest nanny Ma Pearl residing Essex, U.K. Also loving and supportive in-laws and numerous friends. Predeceased by her first husband, Anthony McCarthy (1950) and her second husband, Harry Lundrigan (1975); her son-in-law, Derm Bradbury (1985); three sisters: Emma and Elsie Lynch and Sarah Pittman. Predeceased by parents Hedley and Emma (Snelgrove); infant daughter Elizabeth and son; brothers: Walter and Arthur; sisters: Frances (Shepherd) and Alice (Stone); father and mother-in-law, Duncan and Mary B. (Rees) Hunt; other deceased relatives. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Violet (Hunt); son George F. (Jr.), St. John's; grandchildren: Sharon E. (David S. Pitcher) and Gregory A. (Paula D. [Fraser]); great-grandchildren: Sarah E., Kate I. and Mark C. Pitcher, Andrew F. and Evan G. Noel, all of Dartmouth, NS; cousins: Roy Noel (Hr. Grace) and Jessie (Norman) Tilley of Kelligrews and other relatives and friends. In his early life he fished with his family at Frenchman's Island, Lab. Later he joined the Nfld. Railway and worked as an apprentice electrician before becoming an engine fireman and thence a Brakeman and finally Conductor. In 1949 when NRR was replaced by the CNR he was one of the youngest conductors in Canada. 88, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Oceanview Manor, November 16, 2004. Born in Victoria, NL, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Belle (Verge) Powell. Lloyd graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Truro in 1936. He worked as an agriculturist with the Newfoundland government for 42 years. He moved to Nova Scotia after retiring in 1978. During his years in Newfoundland, Lloyd was active in the United Church of Canada and the Kiwanis Club of Bay Roberts. Surviving are wife, Bessie (Brown) Powell; sons: Nick (Susan), Goosebay, NL, Angus (Linda), Dartmouth; daughter, Suzanna (John) Snow-Furey, Chilliwack, B.C.; sisters: Jeanette Gardner, New Minas, Ruby Mallam, Toronto; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Nov. 14 in Maryland, USA, age 71. Bill and his wife, Betty (Rose), moved from St. John's to Nova Scotia in 1957 and then to Maryland in 1962. While he lived in the US for most of his adult life, he always considered St. John's as his home and visited frequently over the years. Bill had a large circle of friends and family in St. John's. She leaves behind her husband Garry Quinlan of Flatrock, her parents Jon and Mary Wadleigh of Ottawa, her brother Ian Wadleigh and his wife Lisa of Edmonton, and many good friends around the world. Moire was a Professor in the Earth Sciences Department at Memorial University where she could live her lifelong dream of pursuing knowledge. Thank you to all the people who made her life a joy and her passing easier. Particular thanks to Dr. Lesa Dawson, Dr. Scott Moffatt and all the dedicated nurses at the Health Sciences Centre who helped Moire through her last days and helped Garry to deal with his loss. Thanks also to Rev. Wessell whose spiritual guidance provided comfort in a difficult time, and to the many friends who gave emotional support and practical help. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Kelligrews on Thursday, November 11 at 9:15 a.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Kelligrews.

WINTERS, Frances Elaine
the death of Frances Elaine Winters of 1100 Manawagonish Rd. Saint John, N.B. widow of Mervyn DeBruce Winters, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 5, 2004, just after reaching her 80th birthday. Mrs. Winters was born in Worcester, Mass., a daughter of the late Victor and Margaret (Bonnel) Fuller, and had resided the greater part of her life in Nova Scotia. She was educated in Amherst schools and at Mount Allison University. She was active in church organizations, the Girl Guide movement and sports (especially golf) until moving to Saint John. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association, Beta Sigma Phi, and Hillcrest Seniors Citizens Club. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Fuller. She is survived by three daughters: Karyn Thomas (Terry), of Saint John, Cheryl Oliver (Jerry) of St. John's, and Laura Huskins (Jim) of Greenfield, N.S.; one sister, Elizabeth "Bette" Segee of Oakville, Ont.; eight grandchildren: Katrina Carvell (Randy), Ryan (Andrea), Todd (Lori), Christopher (Stephanie), and Sarah Oliver, and Krista, Kelsie and Erica Huskins; great-grandchildren Samantha, Kristy and Riley and a devoted cousin, Olga Sears (Weyman) of Amherst. Following cremation, interment will take place in the United Baptist Cemetery in Liverpool, N.S. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. WISEMAN, Olga Marie
Passed peacefully away on November 8, 2004, at St. Clare's ICU, Olga Marie Wiseman, formerly of London, England. A resident of Mount Pearl for sixty-two years and later a resident of Masonic Park Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband Sidney Charles Wiseman and daughter-in-law Bernice Lane-Wiseman. Leaving to mourn her sad loss are three sons: Dennis (Glenys), Bruce and Sidney; six grandchildren: Michelle (Michael), Scott (Kena), Jason (friend Kim), Jennifer (Dale), April and Shane; four great-grandchildren: Maria, Steven, William and Tanner; also special friend: Joan Cadigan and family; and many more friends and acquaintances too numerous to mention. Special thanks to ICU unit at St. Clare's Hospital, Rev. Barrett, Father Courage and all the staff at Masonic Park Nursing Home. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. WYLDER (Taylor), Mary -Passed peacefully away on November 22, 2004, at Carmichael, California, in the presence of her loving family, Mary (Mamie) Wylder (nee Taylor), formerly of St. John's, NL. Predeceased by her husband Edward J. Wylder (1987), her father John (1983), mother Agnes (1990), sister Doreen (1971) and brothers Fred (1994) and Hubert (2002). Leaving to mourn her sons Joe and Sean and daughter Heather in California, as well as seven grandchildren, her sister Shirley Conran (Gerry) and brother Derm (Helen) (St. John's) and her sister-in-law Sabina Taylor (Boston, Mass.). Funeral took place at Carmichael on November 26, 2004.

YOUNG, Reginald Wilson - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Wednesday, November 24, 2004. Reginald Young, aged 82 years, of Masonic Park, Mount Pearl, formerly of Grand Falls. He was predeceased by his parents Eleazer and Mabel Young and his two brothers, Clarence and Victor. Left with loving memories, his wife of 52 years, Doris (nee Crewe); his daughters: Linda (Bernard) Lewis of Chapel's Cove and Dorothy (Gerald) Tucker of Chamberlains and his beloved grandchildren: Shannon (Toby) Lewis-Simpson of Yorkshire, England and Deanne and David Tucker of Chamberlains; a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Home with visitation 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 24th and 2-4 p.m. on Friday. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27th, 2004 from Barrett's Chapel.
