BARTLETT, Bride (nee Gushue) - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, October 28, 2001, aged 80 years. Predeceased by her husband, Robert, sons Cecil & Harold. Leaving to mourn four sons, Jim (Gloria), Joe (Marlene), Arch (Mary), and Bob (Trudy). Two daughters, Stella (Jim) King, Gloria (Noel) McHugh. Daughter-in-law, Frances (Harold) deceased, two sisters, Florence Lush & Lucy Bartlett. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives & friends. Special friend Allan Dawe. Resting at Broughton's Funeral Home, Brigus until 12 noon on Wednesday. Funeral to take place on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. from St. George's Anglican Church, Brigus. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, English Cove, Marysvale. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Brown, Corey William Horwood
Our precious little angel passed peacefully away suddenly in his sleep on October 1, 2001, at the young age of 2 months, 19 days. Predeceased by grandfather Leslie A. Horwood, September 1998. Leaving to mourn his daddy Jason and mommy Rita; sisters; Sara, age 7 and Lesley, 15 months. Also leaving to mourn his grandmothers; Rita Powell (Andy), Dianne Brown (George) and grandfather Edmund Brown; great-grandmothers; Kay Oates, Nina Patey and Ida Brown; great-grandfather Gordon Patey; great-aunt Rita Hickey; aunts; Kim (Scott), Yvonne (Scott), Deborah (Tony), Martine; uncles; Keith (Paula), Dean and Leroy. Also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 12 noon - 9 pm on Wednesday. Funeral Service at 10:30 am Thursday, October 4, 2001, from Barrett's Chapel with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.**

CARTER, Myra (nee Earle) - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital, Bell Island, on October 9, 2001, age 63 years. Predeceased by son Andy in 1991. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, common-law husband, Don Matthews; children: Fred (Cynthia), Wallace, Wanda Murphy (Richard), Glenn, Freeman (Glenda), Rosalind, Perry (Brenda), Margaret McNeil (Steve), Roy, Hazel Whalen (Joe), Randy (Paula), George (Susan), Donny Earle (Doreen), Lillian Earle (James), Stephen and Michael Carter; brothers: Walter, Dolph and Clifford; sisters: Rosalind Atkins, Hazel Coombs, Minnie Westmyre and Amelia Parsons; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others relatives and friends. Former instructor at the College of Trades and Technology. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Agnes Costello, and his sisters, Pauline Redmond and Catherine Thomey. Leaving to mourn his wife and best friend of 44 years, Esther (nee Hutchings); two daughters: Brenda James (Keith), St. John's, and Deanne, St. Anthony; two sons: Gerard (Bonita), Corner Brook, and David, Toronto; four loving grandchildren: Melissa, Michael, Allison and Mark James; two sisters: Anne Doyle (William), Avondale, and Genevieve Lambe, St. John's; two brothers: Daniel, Toronto, and Thomas (Kay), Avondale; very special niece, Irene Barry, St. John's; brother-in-law James Thomey, Avondale; sisters-in-law: Catherine Brennan, Margaret Joyce and Sister Agnes Hutchings, PBVM, all of St. John's; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn six sons: Patrick, Gerald, Walter, Paul, Jason and Harold; four daughters: Gertie, Patricia, Kimberly and Sharon; three brothers: Robert (Barb), David (Carol Ann) and Dan (Geraldine); two sisters: Irene (Ron), Patsy (Calvin); 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. DYKE, Ross - Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, Ross Dyke of Manuels, age 71 years. Predeceased by brothers: Charlie, Ronald and Gerry; sister Mamie. Left with fond and loving memories are his sister Maggie; sisters-in-law: Sybil Blackmore, Susie Dyke and Angela Dyke; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Barrett's Chapel, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Leaving to mourn his two daughters: Kathleen Groomsbridge (Jeff McIroy) and Charlotte Desjardins (Paul); five grandchildren: Johnny, Justin, Krystal, Tiffany and P.J., all from Ontario; five sisters: Myra Carter (Don), Hazel Coombs (Cyril), Amelia Parsons (Warren), Rosalind Atkins (Hubert) and Minnie Wasmeier (Tor); three brothers: Randolph, Clifford (Sheila), Walter (Laura); as well, numerous nieces and nephews. At Wallace's request, a graveside service and interment will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in The Anglican Cemetery, Bell Island.

Passed away at this home in Bonavista on October 15, 2001, Herbert Morley Elliott, in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife Grace (Parsons). Leaving to mourn one son Gordon Elliott, Lumsden, Nfld.; two daughters; Evelyn Dewitt (husband Brian), New Brunswick and Kim Harris (husband Allan), Bonavista; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday ; 10 am - 12 noon, Thursday. Funeral Service 2 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2001 from Barrett's Chapel with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. FINN, Mary A.
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercey Hospital on October 27, 2001, aged 90 years. Predeceased by her husband James; son James Jr.; two sons-in-law: Andy Seaward and Doug Putt. Brothers: Walter, Peter, James and Patrick Williams. Sisters: Bessie Kiely and Mary Williams. Leaving to mourn 10 daughters: Margaret Seaward, Martha Finn (Joe), Theresa O'Dea (Peter), Rose Blyde (Tom), Bessie Hearn (Jim), Philomena Chafe (Cec), Rita Chafe (George), Pauline Chafe (Gordon), Lucy Chafe (Cyril), and Ann Putt. Son: Mike; daughter-in-law: Ivey Finn; and sister-in-law Mary Williams. Forty-seven grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Also nieces, nephews and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. GREEN, Emily (Cake) nee Foote - Entered into eternal rest on October 1, 2001 with her three daughters at her side, Emily Green in her 98th year of Upper Gullies, formerly of Lamaline - daughter of Joseph and Dinah Foote. Predeceased by husband Gilbert Cake and Linus Green, son George Cake and daughter Stella Elford. Left with cherished memories daughters: Joan (Len Vallis) Halifax, Ruth (Alfred Crews) Upper Gullies and Barbara ( Merv Rideout) Upper Gullies; daughter-in-law Edna Cake, Fortune; brothers: Fred Foote (Edith) St. John's, Max Foote (Lucy) Kelligrews; brother-in-law Ben Green, Fortune. Nanny will be fondly remembered by her twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; also left with many happy memories, several nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation Wednesday 10-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Thursday 10-12 noon. She was loved, respected and valued by those whose path she crossed. She was a woman who loved life and her family. She will live in our hearts forever.

Leaving to mourn wife Anne of 45 years; one sister Geraldine Goobie of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; brother Dr. George Kennedy (Myrtle), St. John's, Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, with burial in Florida.

Passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on October 10, 2001, following a brief illness, James Botwell Lester, aged 72 years. Left to mourn, his wife of 50 years, Juanita (nee Hobbs); six children; Glenys (Charlottetown, PEI), Carolyn (Terry Penney), Tom (Karen Baker); 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn four sisters; Isobel Conrad (Oregon, USA), Dorothy Clarke, Florencde Hutchens and Joan Chapman, all of St. John's; 6 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 4-10 pm, Thursday and from 10 am - 10 pm on Friday.
