BROWN, Doris Mae - What began for Doris as a little breeze, that temporarily
interrupts ones normal, daily life, eventually intensified into a severe
storm. Along with the aid of her physicians, her family and her friends,
and particularly the strength she received from God, she battled with all
her might to keep afloat but it was obvious that the gales were prevailing
and her life was gradually becoming swamped. And then, at precisely 5:00
p.m. on the twenty-second of October, 2006 she heard, in her heart, those
familiar words, "Peace, Be Still." In an instant the storm was
over, calm was restored and Doris was at perfect peace with the Father
in that Haven of rest, to be reunited with her two children, Mary Joanne
and Robert Clarence and her father, Conrad Mills who went on before her.
The love and the joy and the laughter that she brought to the Brown household
will be missed by her husband, The Rev'd Canon Harold Brown; her daughters:
Cynthia Squires (Chris), Jennifer MacDougall (Brett); her son, Robert (Heather);
her grandchildren: Rebecca, Jessica, Kaitlyn, and Elle; her mother, Dorothy
Mills; her siblings, Conrad (Alma), Linda, Ellen McCann (Ron), Mary Bucciarelli
(Nick), Samuel (Laura), Raymond (Liz), Cathy Magee (Wayne), and Doug, as
well as many other relatives and friends. Doris was a tower of strength
and a fountain of joy to her family and to all around her. She knew nothing
but love and friendship and shared them unselfishly with everyone. Although
these virtues will no longer be experienced through her, their memories
will live forever in her family and friends. No longer will she walk beside
us, for her journey is done, but her spirit will remain with us and we
will be happy knowing that she is now with Him to Whom her love knew no
bounds. Doris's ashes will be resting at Moores Funeral Home, Bay Roberts
on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9, Wednesday 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will
take place at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Port de Grave on Thursday, October
26, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Forest
Road, St. John's at 3 p.m. The family requests that there be no flowers,

BUTLER, James Vincent - Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland
Regional Health Centre on October 17, 2006, after a courageous battle with
renal cell carcinoma, Jaye (James Vincent) Butler, age 60. Predeceased
by infant son, Jordan Josh, and parents, Ron and Elizabeth (Hogan) Butler
of Hr. Grace. Leaving to celebrate a life filled with a great deal of laughter,
quick wit and decided opinions, Beverley, his beloved wife of 34 joy filled
years, as well as two wonderful children whom he loved dearly and of whom
he was so proud - Jared and Bethany (Matthew Barrett). Also left with many
fond memories are his favorite aunt, Margaret (Peg) Hogan as well as cousins
Rosemary (Emil, Catherine, Christine Louis Rocher), Maureen (Ron, Carolyn,

and Maureen) and his Thomas family in-laws especially Brian and Mary Thomas.
Jaye was a retired Social Studies teacher who spent 28 years at Booth Memorial
High School in Windsor. He was a past-President and executive member of
the Exploits Valley Branch of the NLTA. He developed many fine relationships
with students, colleagues and parents during his 30-year teaching career
and truly enjoyed in his retirement the many sociable encounters with those
people he considered friends. Jaye's coaching career with the Booth Bears
and the Triple A "Arctic Blast" garnered a whole new array of
acquaintances whom he cherished and throughly enjoyed. The list of friends
grew over the years during the many NAHA coaching clinics he offered throughout
the province. An avid Montreal Canadians fan, Jaye enjoyed nothing more
than sharing his enthusiasm with his son, Jared. Among his other loves
were his Crippleback trips with Art and Russell; his wild game nights with
the Bay Roberts crew; the wonderful times spent with the Badger Lake crowd;
the arguments, insults and "gossip" with the McDonald's bunch;
and debating his portfolio with the Tim Horton's investment group. Mostly,
Jaye enjoyed social occasions with the laughter and companionship of his
many friends. Resting at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor,

DOBBIN - Craig Laurence O.C., husband, father, grandfather, dear friend,
entrepreneur, philanthropist, chairman, founder of the worlds largest
helicopter corporation and one of Newfoundland and Labradors proudest
sons. Surrounded by his beloved wife, confidante and best friend Elaine,
his five children, and his brothers and sisters, at home looking out
over the rugged Atlantic Ocean in Beachy Cove, Newfoundland, he presided
gracefully and courageously over his final covenant and entered into
the arms of the angels at age 71 on October 7, 2006.
Craig Dobbin was
born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Friday, September 13, 1935,
one of 11 children to Rita (Power) and Patrick. He grew up on Kings Bridge
Road, a working class neighbourhood. He graduated from St. Bonaventure
college in St. John’s and went on to become one of the global aviation
industry’s most successful figures. He provided opportunity, support
and inspiration to thousands through his businesses, his philanthropy
and most importantly through his charming, larger than life, magnanimous
character.
A fearless buccaneer in the business world, Craig was guided
by integrity, honesty and loyalty, and dove passionately into every task
he undertook. He sprinkled his many speeches with concise, memorable
axioms, including his three favorites: “Never take no for an answer,” “Turn
adversity into opportunity,” and, his favorite in recent years, “Time
is the enemy.”
From his base in Newfoundland, he founded Sealand
Helicopters with one aircraft in 1977 and launched CHC Helicopter Corporation
in 1987, building the enterprise into the largest helicopter services
company in the world through timely acquisitions, strategic decisions
and the support of many dedicated, loyal employees. He visited many of
the 35 countries in which CHC operates, served as Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer and later as Executive Chairman, and delivered his
final speech to shareholders with his usual wit and charm, and to lengthy
applause, on September 28, 2006 in Vancouver.
Craig founded Omega investments,
a Newfoundland real estate company that, combined with his reputation
and integrity, provided the leverage and collateral for many of his subsequent
ventures. He founded Air Atlantic, a regional fixed-wing airline when
the Open Skies Treaty was signed in 1989; created Vector Aerospace through
a public offering; built Canadian Helicopters; and created CHC Composites
Limited. With every success, he was quick to point to his team, describing
himself as a casting director rather than a master at business. He recognized
talent and had a knack of making every individual feel important and
his fellow employees were like family to him.
Craig strongly believed
in giving back to the community and did so with passion. In the giving
of his time and talents, he never looked for recognition, but received
it nevertheless for his outstanding generosity, support and encouragement.
He was inducted as an Officer of the Order of Canada - which he considered
to be his greatest honour; he received honorary degrees from Memorial
University of Newfoundland, the National University of Ireland and St.
Mary’s University in Halifax. He was the Provincial and National
Transportation Person of the Year; was awarded the Medaille de l’aeronatique
from the Government of France established to reward the individuals who
distinguished themselves in the development of aviation; was inducted
into the Newfoundland and Labrador Business Hall of Fame; was Atlantic
Canada’s Entrepreneur of the Year and was voted Newfoundland and
Labrador’s Businessman of the Millennium. Just this past week,
Craig received notification that he was to be inducted into Canada’s
Aviation Hall of Fame in June 2007 for his lifetime of work and achievement
in the aviation industry.
He was a fiercely proud Newfoundland, a loyal
Canadian and honoured citizen of the Republic of Ireland. Craig served
as Honourary Consul General of Ireland for Newfoundland and Labrador
and was Chairman of the Ireland-Canada University Foundation in Dublin.
Equally at ease with presidents, princes and those less fortunate, he
supported, sometimes anonymously, many causes. He endowed the Robert
M. Kotloff/Nancy P. Blumenthal Professorship for Advanced Lung Disease

completed him; as well as his mother Vivian; brother Scott (Marion) and
special uncle Lawrence Freeze, all of Saint John, New Brunswick; mother-in-law
Anne Joyce; sisters-in-law: Paula Ellsworth (Ron), Michelle Coady (Sean),
Colleen Blezard (Michael) and Maria Pooley (Frank); 12 nieces and nephews
who adored him, as he did them: Michael, Stephanie, Maria (godchild) and
Christine Ellsworth; Nicholas, Emma and Sarah Coady; Micah and Nadia Blezard;
Alice, Frankie and Grace Pooley; special aunt and uncle, Marg and Jim Kennedy.
Paul's faith in God was strengthened by deep friendships with Father Bill
Browne, S.J. and Pastor Gordon and Louise Young. His absence will also
be deeply felt by numerous charities to whom he devoted countless hours
and untiring effort. Paul's career in Radio started in Saint John, New
Brunswick but led him to spend several years in Prince Edward Island before
finally realizing that his heart belonged in Newfoundland. His melodious
voice and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless people in each province.
He leaves friends and fans across the Atlantic Provinces. Much of Paul's
career was spent as a member of Steele Communications where he was considered
family, not an employee, by owners and staff alike. Paul became a household
name as the dynamic host of "The Cabin Party" and as half of
the entertaining duo "Paul and Claudette" on the VOCM Morning
Show. His Voice, His Spirit, His Touch, reached into countless lives. There
are no words to express the void that is left by his passing. "We
don't have to light all the world, but we do have to light our part" -
words by which Paul lived everyday. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant
Road. Visitation Saturday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and
Sunday and Monday from 12 noon - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian
Burial on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Church,
