ANDREWS, Doris - (December 2nd, 1940 - October 10th, 2016) - Passed peacefully away on October 10, 2016 at the Heath Sciences Centre, surrounded by loving family, at age 75. Predeceased by her parents Bernard and Caroline; sister Mary; brothers Bill, Bernard, Jack and Eugene. Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 37 years Paul; daughter Caroline (Gerry); son Sheldon (Marie-Anne); grandson Ellis; sister Madonna Northcott; special nieces Sharon, Bertilla, Bernice; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Wednesday, October 12 and on Thursday, October 13 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa's Church. ANDREWS (nee Walsh), Emir Anne - (1948 - 2016) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex in the presence of family and friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, Emir Andrews, age 68 years. Predeceased by her parents Dr. J. Frazier Walsh (2003) and Catherine Elizabeth Walsh (nee Bradfield) (2006); parents-in-law: Ralph Andrews (1989) and Muriel Andrews (nee Chapman) (2004); brother-in-law, Donald Andrews (2005) and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Andrews (nee Thompson) (2016). Leaving to celebrate her life are her husband of 46 years, Stephen; daughter, Dr. Kimberly Andrews-Putt, DVM (Craig); her grandchildren: Ciarán and Kayleé, who were her pride and joy; her twin sister, Maeve Walsh; sister, Moya Clarke (Kevin); sister-in-law, Eileen Andrews (Moncton); brother-in-law, Bob Andrews (Calgary); as well a number of nephews and nieces and a wide circle of friends. Emir was a retired Associate Professor of Psychology, having taught for almost 40 years at Memorial University. Shortly after MS caused her to begin using an electric scooter, she was invited to join the Board of the Glen Roy Blundon Centre at MUN. The Blundon Centre deals with accessibility issues at MUN and Emir remained on that board even after retirement, serving for nearly 25 years. In recent times Emir also joined the Board of CODNL. Emir's other passion in life was her dogs. Together with husband Steve, they bred and showed Scottish Terriers for some 35 years. As a member of the Newfoundland (All Breed) Kennel Club from 1972 until her passing, she served in many official roles - most frequently as Show Secretary. When she and Steve met, she owned a dog named Finn MacCoul and the last dog they acquired in 2014 is also named Finn MacCoul. Visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Sunday, October 23, from 12noon-9pm. A celebration of Emir's life will take place at St. David's Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth Avenue, on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow at the church hall. A private family burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Columbarium. BABB, Mary - Mrs. Mary E. Babb of Bryant's Cove passed away at her home on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Mrs. Babb was 98 years old. Edgar Harrison Branton aged 72 passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. BREWER, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) - (September 11th, 1960 - October 9th, 2016) - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Brewer (Betty) at NLRHC Hospital in Fort McMurray, Alberta. After a short, but brave battle with cancer, Betty passed peacefully away in the arms of her brother Derm. Predeceased by her parents John and Melinda Brewer. brothers Edmund and Ron. Sisters-in-law Delores Brewer and Carolyn Leonard. Brothers-in-law Harold Kearley and Jack Summers. Left with fond and loving memories her son Keith (Rhonda); partner Ralph Alders; granddaughter Dominique; great-granddaughter Sadie; brothers Wish, John (Violet), Michael (Geraldine), Albert (Doreen) and Derm (Pearl); sisters Madonna, Ann (Alf), Eileen (Paddy) and Linda (Joe). Also leaving to mourn her Fort McMurray "sisters," who were like family to her along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. BROWN, Joseph Henry - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Joe Brown, aged 89 years, was predeceased by his son Paul; daughter Dianne; grandson Albert; his parents Sam and Elsie Brown and his sons-in-law Jim England and John Gladney and daughter-in-law Lidia Brown. Joe leaves behind with fond and loving memories, his wife and partner in life whom he loved dearly, Alice; his children Shirley, Joe (Debbie), Sam and his baby-girl Seryna (Mark) along with his grandchildren Melissa (Travis), Joey, Scott (Christa), Paul, Jamie (Stephanie), Shannon (John), Chrissy, Haley, Brady, Lisa Marie (Danny) and Marky (Kayla). BURGERT, Patricia Helen - (September 22nd, 1928 - October 13th, 2016) - Patricia Helen Burgert, age 88, of Rio Rancho, NM passed away October 13, 2016. Patricia was born on September 22, 1928 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, the first of nine children of Catherine and James Hollahan. She met her husband-to-be, Theodore Burgert, while he was stationed in Newfoundland with the US Air Force. Patricia moved to New York to marry Ted, and for several years resided in Queens, NY, before relocating to Old Bridge, NJ, where they raised their three sons.
Patricia was a secretary for more than 20 years at the Old Bridge Medical Group, in Old Bridge, NJ, before retiring. After retiring, Patricia and Ted moved to Beverly Hills, FL, enjoying more than 15 years living in the area. Patricia relocated to Rio Rancho, NM in 2013. Patricia is survived by her three sons, Stephen and wife, Lynette of Rio Rancho, NM, Ted and wife, Evelyn, of Albuquerque, NM, and Kenneth and wife, Lee-Anne, and their children, Christopher, Daniel, and Kaitlyn, all of Old Bridge, NJ. She is also survived by her three sisters, Mary Largent (Hollahan) of Sacramento, CA, Catherine Schneeberg (Hollahan) and husband, Al, of Inverness, FL, and Sheila Carew (Hollahan) of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the US and Canada. Patricia was preceded in death by Ted, her loving husband, of more than 50 years; sister, Bernice Flynn (Hollahan); and brothers, Edward, Gerald, James Jr. and Larry. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE in Rio Rancho, NM, followed by Interment at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. BURKE (nee Bailey), Beatrice "Beatie" - (May 28th, 1929 - October 21st, 2016) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on Friday October 21st, 2016 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Beatrice Burke, aged 87 years. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Beatrice Bailey; her husband Kevin; sisters: Dallas Mercer and Amelia Battcock; brothers: Dick Bailey, Jack Bailey and Max Duffett. BUTLER, Douglas Roy - Passed peacefully away at his home on October 15, 2016, at the age of 95 years. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Edith; children Wade, Donna (Hubert) and Dale (Sandy); adored grandchildren Darren, Shawn and Katelyn; as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by his father Howard Butler, in 2004. CHARLES, Peter Murray - Passed peacefully away after a long illness at his home in Woodstock, ON on October 28, 2016, Peter Charles at the age of 71. Born in St. John's, NL, Peter spent most of his adult life in Ontario but never lost his love for his home province. A celebration of his life will be held in Woodstock on November 19, 2016.

COCHRANE (nee Hynes), Clara - (December 17th, 1949 - October 19th, 2016)- After a courageous battle with cancer, Clara passed into the arms of the angels surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Clara Cochrane, age 66 of Dunville, Placentia (formerly of Presque, PB.). Clara is predeceased by her parents Jim and Madonna Hynes (nee McCue), parents-in-law Maurice and Mary Cochrane (nee Ryan), and brothers-in-law Thomas Lake and Arch Moores. Left to cherish her memory, her husband of nearly 50 years Maurice Cochrane. Maurice was her quiet strength, faithfully by her side through good times and bad. He was her soulmate and her best friend. Four devoted and amazing children and five very special grandchildren who were the light of her life: Marilyn Mooney (George) and Nicholas, Terry (Bridget) and Tyler, Brian (Denise) and Victoria, Madonna Wakeham (Sean) and Shawna and Stephanie. She will also be remembered and cherished by her brothers John Hynes (Stella), Jim Hynes (Una), Patrick Hynes (Alice Connors) and her sister Marie Mary Collins (Aloysius); sisters-in-law Stella Lake (Vince Collins) and Rosemary Moores; all her nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of friends and co-workers. The family was very fortunate to be surrounded by a wonderful group of friends whose support sustained them through this difficult time. Special recognition to her children Terry, Brian, and Madonna who traveled many miles, numerous times to be with their mother during the past 10 months. Also daughter Marilyn and her NL family for their constant dedication and support. Marilyn was the wind beneath her wings and rock of support and comfort for the whole family. Clara was a loving wife, dutiful daughter, a proud mother and grandmother. She was a woman of extreme strength and courage who worked hard to make a comfortable, welcoming home for her family and friends. COCHRANE, (nee Murrin), Margaret Mary - at a youthful 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, and son, Michael. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Dean as she was affectionately known, passed peacefully away at home on October 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. A very much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. HILLIER, Stephen Hugh- 88, Passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016 at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge, Ontario. Loving husband of Bernice Bonia Hillier of 63 years. Father of Steve (Wendy); Jan Hillier; Karen (David) Hatt; Mary Lynn (Preston Peek); Krista Diamond; and Mark (Kelly). Proud Grandfather of Ashleah; Brandon, Aislynn, Janelle; Zachary; Madeleine, Emily; Cole; Jamie; and Harley. He is also survived by his sister Katherine Hillier Ashbee. In his youth Steve was a member of the CLB (Church Lads Brigade) and served on the honour guard of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Steve was a lifelong sports fan. He especially liked watching hockey, baseball, soccer, and playing golf. He was especially passionate about watching and supporting anything that his children and grandchildren played. He loved to sing his favourite hymns and the popular tunes of the 40s and 50s. Steve will be fondly remembered by many family and friends in St. John's, NL; Georgetown, ON; Pike Lake/Mount Forest, ON; and Dunedin, FL. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert Sr. and Sarah Holmes, and sisters Mary and Anne. Leaving to mourn with full hearts: wife Janet, son Robert (Alice), daughters Perri Brazill (Dave) and Lesley Holmes (Lindsey), and stepson Jonathan Hammond (Judy); grandchildren Brandon, Meighan, Avery and Adelynn; great-grandchildren Thomas and Tyson. JANES, Gordon - Passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side on October 20, 2016 at the Scarborough General Hospital (formerly of Topsail, NL). Beloved husband of Beverley (nee Brechbill) for over 40 years. Devoted father of Derrick (Catherine) and Brent (Ana-Maria). Proud Grandfather of Nicole, Nathan and Dominic. LEVANDIER, Richard Michael - (April 13th, 1946 - October 19th, 2016) - Peacefully passed away in the presence of his family at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre. Born to the late Donald and Kathleen Levandier (Kelly), he is survived by his wife of 47 years Deidre Levandier (Lovett); son Marcel Levandier (Erin); daughter Chantelle Levandier; and three grandsons: Evan Levandier, Alex and Dylan Levandier and will miss the birth of his fourth grandson due later this month. Richard also leaves to mourn a sister Donna Woods; brothers: John (Vicki), Paul (Linda), Phillip (Julie), David (Jenny); brother-in-law Barry Lovett (Sheila); and 11 nieces and nephews. Born in Halifax and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, he attended school in the Port Wallace area and Prince Andrew High School. Richard was a life member of Kin Canada, having dedicated 47 years with the service club. He was recognized over the years for his volunteerism, with such awards as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Beaumont-Hamel Local Hero Commemorative Award, and the City of Mount Pearl 2016 Community Service Award. He also enjoyed over 25 years with the Mount Pearl Men's Slo-Pitch Softball League and was honored to have the softball field named in his memory. He was employed for most of his working career in the scaffolding business with Aluma Systems Canada. Richard will be greatly missed by his personal family, the family of Kin, his large circle of friends in the volunteer community of Mount Pearl and the gang at Tim Hortons. The family would like to thank the ALS Society, their neighbors, the Kinsmen and Kinettes of Mount Pearl, and Dr. William Eaton and his staff of angels on the Palliative Care Unit of the Miller Centre. LITTLEJOHN, Daisy - Passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on October 7, 2016 at the Carbonear General Hospital, surrounded by family after a very valiant six-year struggle with cancer, Daisy Littlejohn (nee Bartlett) age 67. Daisy retired from a successful 29-year teaching career in 1998 which brought her to Brigus, Cupids, and Coley's Point schools. She is predeceased by parents, Wesley and Dorothy Bartlett and parents-in-law Albert and Bertha Littlejohn. Left with precious memories and thankful for her life are husband Gordon; sons Carson (Mae), Paul (Tammy); grandchildren Amber, Austin and Jacob; sister Lois Boone (Lorne - deceased); brothers, Boyd (Nina), Bert (Joy) and John (Maureen) and many other relatives and friends. MORGAN (nee Taylor), Verna Mary - Passed away on October 2nd, 2016at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia. Verna was born in Cupids Newfoundland on December 4, 1926 where as a young woman she met the love of her life, Lance who predeceased her in 2011. After a brief courtship they moved to Dunville where they lived, worked and raised a family for over sixty years. She was a fixture in the community through her involvement with St. Martin's Church, her love of bingo and cards and years of running Morgan's General Store. She was also an active member of the ACW. She is survived by her daughters Maxine Lee (Dan) and Bernice Welsh (Selwyn), son John Morgan (Patti) and sister Ruby Feltham. She will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren Scott Welsh (Jackie), Sheryl Pardy (Neal), Krista Lee, Daniel Lee (Kelly), Jeremy Morgan (Susie), Gillian Morgan, and Katie Morgan, her five great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews, and by her lifelong friend Sybil Hindy. He worked at CBC for 31 years, retiring from his position as Librarian in 1995. Although not part of his direct responsibilities, Jim loved working with the public and audiences in the days when CBC recorded live performances like Anna McGoldrick, Up At Ours, and Come all Ye. His love for working with the public extended into his many years of volunteering and managing Holy Heart Auditorium. He constantly worked to get involved with various events that would allow him to engage with people such as the Papal Visit in 1984, Children's Christmas parties, St. John's Christmas Parade, and the Royal St. John's Regatta. Jim was an avid skater (ice and in-line) and golfer. He was well known for his support to the skating community by helping to provide and play music. Jim loved music and he loved to dance. He thoroughly enjoyed skating and golf and truly valued the friendships he developed over the years. One of Jim's proudest accomplishments was in 2005 when he got four hole in ones on the Clovelly Black Duck Course. Above all his interests and loves in life, he cherished his family most. His devotion and strength will forever be missed.

POOLE, Cyril Francis - Age 91, of Sackville, New Brunswick, died on October 20th, 2016. Born in Pilley's Island, NL, he was a son of the late Dorman and Blanche (Watkins) Poole. Educated at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto, Cyril was a philosophy teacher and administrator at Bishop's University (1957-65) and Mount Allison University (1965-77). In 1977 he returned to Newfoundland where he became principal of Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook. In 1990, he was appointed editor in chief of the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador, helping to complete the project started by Joey Smallwood. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1991. Cyril wrote several books on Newfoundland subjects, often funny, always full of keen observations about the people and places that meant so much to him. He cherished time spent sailing the "ancestral waters" of Notre Dame Bay with family and friends aboard Primrose II, Primrose III and Shamrock II. Cyril is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean (Parsons), Sackville; daughters, Janet (Bill Geier), Sackville and Deborah (Eric Sloan), Murray Corner, NB; son, Stephen (Margaret Doane), Halifax; grandchildren, Stephen (Megan Mitton) and Michael Geier, Erin, Laura and Patrick Sloan, Matthew, Emily and Lucy Poole; great-granddaughter, Quinn Geier; sister, Joyce, Wisconsin; brothers, Mervyn, New Waterford, NS and Edward (Marlene Penner), Delta, BC. REYNOLDS, Michael - (July 21st, 1946 - October 18th, 2016) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend, Michael Francis Reynolds, aged 70 years. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Eileen Reynolds of Harbour Grace. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife Netta (nee Rideout), as well as her siblings who held a special place in Mike's heart; cherished daughter Melissa (Gary) Hartzenberg; and faithful friend and son Jeffrey (Carolyn). The care and commitment that the staff continue to give to Netta will never go unnoticed by the family. SNOW, Steven Roger - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son and brother Steven R. Snow, age 37 years, on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his loving family. SNOW, William French - (1926 - 2016) - Passed peacefully away in his 90th year on October 15, 2016 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital William French Snow aged 89 years. WOOLRIDGE, Andrew - Our hearts are broken at the loss of our son, brother, nephew, and valuable friend, Andrew Woolridge. Andrew passed way early Wednesday morning following a terrible battle with an Illness that finally took him from us. He will forever be remembered and loved by all who knew him...his big brother and Dearest friend Rob; by his father, Bob, his Grandmother Mary Donahoe, uncles Andy and Brian, many more aunts and uncles; and his rock-steady friend B.J. Andrew is now in the arms of his adoring mother, Suzanne, who passed away-sadly, on Andrew's Birthday -January 31, 2012. Godspeed precious Andrew.
