Passed away on Friday, June 11th, 1999, Adrian Abbott, formerly of Oderin, Placentia Bay, age 60 years and 5 months. Leaving to mourn one brother Patrick, and two sisers; Marie Bailey, Long Pond and Pauline Abbott, St. John's; special friends Lewis Knight and Bernadine; also many special cousins and very special cousin Joseph Manning, Burin. Adams, Roy A. (VO1CF) Of St. Luke's Home, formerly of Port Blandford. Died at St. Clare's Hospital on October 6th, 1999. Born at Milton in March 1914, son of George and Delilah Adams. Predeceased by wife Ruth in 1997; sisters; Dora, Minnie, Nellie, Mabel; and brothers; Arthur, Fenwick and Ted. Leaving to mourn daughters; Janet (David Vardy) and Nancy; grandsons; Adam and Andrew Vardy; sisters-in-law; Florence and Thelma Adams; as well as nieces and nephews and friends. Passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, October 16, 1999 in the presence of his loving family, Edgar Andrews, of Port de Grave. Age 80 years. Predeceased by his wife Hilda (nee Taylor); parents; Robert John and Mary Andrews; brother George (Vera); step-brothers; Hayward (Lillian) and Jim (Anna) Parsons; and step-sister Susie Bishop (Joe). Passed away on Wednesday, October 6th, 1999, at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, Raymond Baggs, age 70 years. Predeceased by daughter Cathy Grenning (1985). Leaving to mourn seven sisters; Dallas Dalton (Tony), Marguerite Kelly, Ruby Smart, Lillian Logan (Mel), Beatrice Picco-Wadland (George), Rose Thain (Gary), June Gullage (Eric); two brothers; David Bastow (Joan), Francis Bastow (Shirley) and two special friends; Mary Young and Frank Pope; also a large number of nieces, nephews. other relatives and friends. Broderick, Frank J. -71, of Moncton, formerly of Gambo, NF passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 11, 1999 following a lengthy illness. Prior to retirement Frank was Assistant to the President and CEO with Marine Atlantic. His career with Canadian National Railways began in 1944. He retired with 43 years of service. Forever in the hearts of family and sadly missed by his wife, Olga (Bursey); three sons; Sean (Monique), Barry, and Glenn (Donna); three daughters Toni Cameron (Roger), Kimberly Fougere (Mike) and Tracey Staples; seven grandchildren; three brothers; Bill (Trudy), Harry (Heather) and Pat (Gaye); and five sisters; Dorethea Slaney (Jack), Juanita Broderick, Geraldine McIntyre, Helen Parrott (Bert) and Mary Penney (Jim). It is now that only one set of footprints are found in the sand. For it is now that you rest safely in God's hands. Born in North Bay, Reg worked in various radio stations in Ontario as Assistant Engineer before spending seven years as Director of Engineering for CJCH in Halifax. He moved to St. John's in 1974 and for the past 25 years was Director of Engineering at VOCM. Well-known and respected in the broadcasting industry across Canada. Reg served on the engineering committee of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters for many years. In 1990 he was Engineer of the Year of the Central Canada Broadcast Engineers. A lifetime interest and dedication to radio led him to volunteer his services to radio station VOWR and in 1987, he was honoured with a Life Membership on the VOWR Radio Board. WALSH, Frederick J. - It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Frederick J. Walsh, St. John's (formerly of Marystown and Jerseyside, P.B.) announce the passing of a cherished and much loved husband, father and grandfather on Monday, October 18, 1999 at the age of 73. Fred worked for over forty years in the entertainment industry in the province: from 1946-1970 at Argentia Naval Base as Manager of the Commissioned Officers' Club, and from 1971-1986 (when he retired) as General Manager of Bella Vista Country Club and Kentucky Fried Chicken, later becoming Managing Director of Stanley's Steamer. One of the many commendations he received during the course of his work stated that "Mr. Walsh is a master of public relations, an expert in management, and an individual of unquestionable integrity." While he was pleased with such accolades, he was happier to be thought of as a simple man with a loving and kind heart, a great sense of humour, a devoted husband, the world's greatest dad, and the most cherished grandfather. Left with treasured memories are his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Susan (Young); sons: Jim (Betty Legrow), Fred Jr. (Mary Collins); and daughter Linda (Tom) Doody; seven precious grandchildren: Christopher, Seanessey and Cyndi Walsh (Joe McLean); John, Susan and Alison Walsh; and Lesley Doody; one sister Evelyn Reid (Marystown); and one brother Charles Walsh (St. Lawrence). Also sadly remembered by a large circle of other relatives and friends, particularly the wonderful sisters and staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 9:45 a.m. from St. Pius X Church, Elizabeth Avenue. Walsh, Terry Passed pecefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, on Thursday, October 28, 1999 after a long courageous battle with cancer, Terry Walsh, age 38 years. Left with fond and loving memories; girlfriend Maxine and son Danny; sister; Mary(Jerome), Anita(Joe), Sharon(Troy) and Karen(Paul); and brothers; Vince(Cindy) and Derrick(Cindy). Predeceased by his parents Vince and Rachel and by his sister Pamela. Also leaving to mourn the Baker family, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, October 15, 1999, Otto Thomas Wells of the Outer Battery, St. John's, aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 55 years Elsie (nee Ralph); sons; Arthur (Elaine), Austin (Carol); Derek (Katherine); daughter Cynthia (Edward Gelately); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother Jack (Mary);one sister Gertrude Noseworthy; sisters-in-law; Myra, Margaret, Mildred and Eleanor; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Whelan, Frances Jean (nee Bennett) Passed suddenly away October 9, 1999 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Frances Jean Whalen (Bennett). Aged 78 years. Predeceased by son, Thomas Bennett, August 1996.
