I am free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following paths God made for me
I took his hand I heard him call
Then turned, and bid farewell to all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace... at close of play
And if my parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened... deep with sorrow
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full I've savoured much
Good friends, good times
A loved one's touch
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with grief
Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now... He set me free.

SMITH, Florence Alexandria - (August 6, 1941 - September 25, 2013) - Loving wife, mother and grandmother. The sudden passing of a beloved wife and mother has been a shock to us and it will take time to heal. She leaves behind her loving husband John; daughters: Cindy (Rick), Fran (Doug); son: John (Denise); grandchildren: Amanda, Paul, Sasha, Alex and Tyler. Coming from little in life she worked hard for years to provide her family with the means to be successful. She was happily married to her husband John for 53 years, and together they owned and operated a successful business, Granny's Motor Inn, for 34 years. There are some things people may not have known about her, including she once a town councillor in Grand Bank, she volunteered with Girl Guides and the Swim Team, she loved to play music, she loved food, she especially loved to dress up and go out to a nice restaurant, all while she worked very long days up until 2012. If you've ever had the pleasure of talking to her you'd realize she has a good heart, she loved a good yarn and talking with people of all walks of life. Above all else her family was the most important thing, at every opportunity she was involved in her children and grandchildren's lives, hosting family gatherings, attending soccer games, graduations and most recently her oldest granddaughter's wedding. She always loved us unconditionally and was very proud of each of us. The love that she gave us will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you to Dr. S. Beckley and Dr. Paul Jackman for their great care. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th from Barrett's Mount Pearl Chapel, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl. Donations in her memory can be made to the United Church in Fortune or a charity of your choice. Please visit www.barretts.ca to sign the memorial guestbook.
