Cantwell, Frederick
Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Sunday, September 3rd, 1995, Frederick Cantwell, in his 82nd year, of Avondale. Predeceased by his wife Annie; his son Michael; his sister Eliza; his brothers; Leo and Stephen. Left with fond and loving memories are his daughters; Mary (Phil) Penney, Mississauga, Ontario, Elizabeth (Russell) Mayo, St. John's, Theresa (Reginald) Gallant, Miss., Josephine (Jean Guy) Gouin, Gatineau, Quebec, Ellen (Gus) Hickey, Hr. Main; his sons; Steve (Marie), Kanata, Ontario, Fred (Licia), Mount Pearl, Joseph (Carol Ann), Avondale, Bernard (Marlene), Hornby, Ontario, Wayne, St. John's; 25 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; special sister Josephine (Larry) Barron, Mount Pearl; his brothers; Chris, Bill (Kit), all at Avondale; his sisters-in-law; Eva Cantwell, Keansburg, New Jersey, Ellen Wall, Miss., Theresa O'Toole, St. John's; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 5th, 1995 following 1:30 pm Mass at Assumption Church, Avondale. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, Avondale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic or to St. Clare's Palliative Care Unit.

Elmore, Mary Cecilia

Of Fox Harbour, Placentia Bay, passed away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, September 9, 1995, age 74 years. Predeceased by her husband Delbert and son Michael. Leaving to mourn her sad loss are her two daughters; Ann Duke (Hugh). Juanita Higdon (Tyronne); her close friend Sadie Gosse; daughter-in-law Ellen Elmore; grand children: Frazer, Mark, Mitchell, Kerri and Wesley; special relatives: Jim and Russell; and many relatives and Friends. Resting at Maher's Funeral Home in Placentia. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Fox Harbour on Tuesday, September 12 at 9:30 a.m. Public viewing at Ferryland R.C. Church between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment to follow at Ferryland R.C. cemetery.

Holman, Betty (nee Vincent)
Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, September 2nd, 1995, aged 52 years. Leaving to mourn her living husband Gerald; three daughters; Jeanette (Peter) Price, Joanne and Jackie (Daryl); one son, Jerry Jr.; five grandchildren; Julie, Jessica, Jason, Justin and Peter. Also leaving to mourn her mother, Ruth Vincent; six brothers and four sisters; Marjorie (Bill) Cooper, Mickey, Roselyn (Doug) Murphy, Fred (Chris), Cal (Anita), Bob (Bun), Fraser (Eleanor), Roger (Johanne), Gail (Rick), Lynn (Grant); two special uncles; Clyde Vincent and Fred Hussey; also a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue. Funeral Service 2 pm Tuesday, September 5th, 1995 from Barrett's Chapel. Flowers gratefully accepted in her memory.

Hepditch, Patrick A.
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, September 24th, 1995, Patrick A. Hepditch, in his 85th year, of Holyrood (formerly of Clattice Harbour, Placentia Bay). Predeceased by his sons; Ronald and Patsy. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Genevieve; his sons; William (Leanice), New Brunswick, Leo, St. George's, Anthony (fiancée Caroline), St. John's, Edward (fiancée Amanda), Holyrood, Randy and Patrick Jr. (Susan) both at Ontario; his daughters; Mary (Kenneth) Fewer, Holyrood, Madonna (Brian) Myers, Chapel's Cove, Agnes, Regina (Neil), Cynthia and Genny (Chris), all at Holyrood; 28 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 26th, 1995 following 1:30 pm Mass at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to either the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic or the Holy Cross Memorial Fund, Holyrood. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Southside, Holyrood.

Pynn, Douglas Martin
Born February 22, 1925, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 1995 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's. He leaves to mourn children; Eugene, Sharon, Sunny, Tony, Terry, Barry, Tim and Susan. Grandchildren; Rod, Robert, Trevor, April, Joey, Danny, Jenny, Doug, Brandon, Terry Jr., Jessica, Alana, Thomas, Melanie, Janine, Jamie, Jodi, Beth, Laura and Alyssa; best friend and companion; Pat (Patricia) Mulloy; sisters; Elsie, Olive, Violet, Bernice, Beryl; and brother Fred; and numerous relatives and friends. Family will greet visitors at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Curling, from 7-9 pm Friday and Saturday evening. Funeral Services Sunday, 2 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery, Wild Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to the March of Dimes.

Ryan, Reverend Father William J.

Stephenville Crossing, Nf. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Reverend Father William Ryan announces his sudden passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, in Stephenville on Saturday, September 9th, 1995. Parish priest of - Stephenville Crossing, age 51 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridget (Clancy) Ryan; sisters Philomena Kavanagh and Genevieve; brothers: Father Kevin M. Ryan, Michael, James and Edmund. He will be sadly missed by his sisters; Helen Clowe of Ferryland and Marie of the Presentation Congregation; Brother, Francis and wife Eleanor of St. John’s; sisters-in-law, Anita Ryan of Calvert, Hannah Ryan, St. John’s, brother-in-law, Aiden Keough of Calvert; he will also be missed by many, nephews, nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. His remains are resting at the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption in Stephenville Crossing from where the funeral mass will be celebrated, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Following mass Father Ryan will be transferred by motor hearse to the Immaculate Conception Church at Calvert for visitation on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by internment in the family plot in Calvert. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Filmore Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, Tel 709-545-2060. As expression of sympathy, flowers, donations to the charity of one choice would be greatly appreciated.

Snow, Carl William
Died tragically on Wednesday, September 13, 1995, Carl William Snow, age 39 years. Predeceased by his brother Robin, February 1990. Leaving to cheish his memory are his daughter Sandra May; mother Joyce Snow; grandmother Mrs. Jessie Snow; brothers; Randy (Mary), Allan (Margaret), Warren (Joanne), Eric (Melanie),Craig (Elizabeth), Sandy (Karen); one sister Glenda; sister-in-law Beverley; special friend Linda Oates; a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, after 7 pm Thursday. Funeral Service wil take place on Saturday, September 16, 1995 at 3 pm from St. Thomas Anglican Church. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted.

Smith, Mary (nee Shea)
Passed away suddenly at the Salvation Army Grace General Hospital on Saturday, September 30, 1995. Predeceased by her loving husband David, 1988. Leaving to mourn her devoted brother; John (Rev. Br. J.G.Shea, Rome); 12 children; David (Laura), Maurice (Ann), Orleans, Ontario, Betty Ann Tulk, Margaret O'Keefe (Don), Marie Smith, Edmonton, Alberta, John, Edmonton, Alberta, Louise Seaboyer (Rocky), Bernadette Porter (Brian), Sheilagh; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and most remembered for her many years of volunteer work in the St. John's area, through her gift of music. She brought joy and pleasure to young and old alike. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched at home and abroad. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass from St. Patrick's Church on Tuesday, October 3, 1995 at 9:30 am.. Interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.
