CANTWELL, Martha Ellen (nee Petrie)
- Passed away peacefully, at her daughter's home in Mississauga on Thursday April 19, 2007. Martha, of Georgetown, formerly of Bell Island, Newfoundland, 88 years of age, wife of the late George Clark Cantwell. Loving mother of Blair (Mary), Judy, Gail (Jack), Ellen (Greg) and Bill (Monica). Loved grandmother of Vincent, Paula, Clark, Andrea, Justin, Amber and Stephanie and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Sister Anita Petrie (Sisters of Mercy) and Margaret. Predeceased by her brothers Lewis, Bob, George and Edwin and by her sisters Mary and Clarissa. Martha has touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Gail and Jack have cared for mom with grace and dignity at their home in Mississauga for the past two years. Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home (11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave. 905-877-3631) Georgetown on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday April 23rd, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. DOVE, GARY "DOVEY"
It is with great sadness that the Dove family announces the passing of Gary Dove, more fondly "Dovey" on August 2, 2007 after a courageous struggle. Born July 17, 1947 in Hampden White Bay, NFLD. He is predeceased by his parents Norman Dove of Twillingate and Madelyn (Parsons) of Hampden. Lovingly surrounded by his family, he will be greatly missed by his daughters Retta (Gino Baldo) of Barrie and Kim (Domenic) DiPassio of Uxbridge. Cherished Dad Dove to his grandchildren Zachary (Zachman), Sebastian (Scrapper) and Julia (Princess). Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brothers Eric (Carolyn) of Toronto, Lindy (Wanda) of Nova Scotia and Ricky of Nova Scotia and his sisters Laverne of Newfoundland and Cindy (Shawn) Murphy of Qatar. Loving uncle to Cristina, Nicole, Michael, Paul, Lori, Cameron, AJ, Kira and Kendra. Great-uncle to Mason, Taylor, Logan and Hannah. Beloved and cherished friend of Ashley Holloway and Harvey Davis. Dovey had a love of life and made an impression wherever he went. He had a fabulous sense of humour and never missed an opportunity to make a joke or "tell a story". You were always laughing whenever Dovey was around. Dovey will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends. Deepest gratitude to doctors and nurses of Tower 7, Scarborough General Hospital for their exceptional dedication to his comfort and well-being. If desired, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Dovey would be appreciated.

Peacefully at Craiglee Nursing Home on January 15th, 2007, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her loving husband Gordon. Dear mother of Franklin (Marie), Cyril (Ruth), Garfield (Ann) and William (Patricia). Will be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by brothers Claude and Donald Carter. Predeceased by brothers Edward and Frank Carter, granddaughter Brenda Johnson and great-grandson Dustyn Johnson. Friends may call at the Jerrett Funeral Home (660 Kennedy Rd., Scarborough, between Eglinton and St. Clair Aves. East) on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Knob Hill United Church on Friday, January 19th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Knob Hill United Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
Although not stated in the obituaries, I believe this couple may have been formerly from Newfoundland - the husband's obituary was published December 2005

MAHONEY, Kathleen
Formerly of Fogo Island, Nfld., passed away at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 after a valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters Denise Anstey and Heather Kenn. Adored grandmother of Robert Kenn. Cherished sister-in-law of Sybil and Roy Greening, and Sharon and Larry Butler, of Nfld. She will live in our hearts, while her spirit resides with God.


MORAN,Paul William Leo

Born September 3, 1958 in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, son of James and Theresa Moran. Passed peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto on July 11, 2007. Sorely missed by Shakespeare and Tom, his sisters Suzanne, Christine, Deborah, Sheila and Theresa and his brothers Christopher, Leonard and James, together with his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends in Newfoundland and Ontario. His love of life and infectious humour will be remembered by us all. Toronto visitation on Sunday, July 15th at the Ralph Day Funeral Home, 180 Danforth Ave., from 1 - 5 p.m., all his friends are invited, especially from Cabbagetown and all who knew him at "Whatever" in the Queen St. E. and Jones area. After which Paul will fly back to his family home in Pouch Cove, Nfld. to rest with his mother and father, sister Bernadette and brother Basil. Torbay, Newfoundland visitation on Wednesday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Cauls Funeral Home, Torbay, Nfld. and after cremation, interment will be at St. Agnes Church, Pouch Cove, Nfld. on Friday, July 20th. We all give thanks for his love and unfailing friendship. Thanks also to Nurse Dawn and the staff at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto.


WHELAN, Peter

Peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, aged 59 years. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Pittman). Loving son of Jack and the late Catherine Whelan and dear son-in-law of Alphonsus and Winnifred Pittman of St. John's, Nfld. Cherished brother of Cathy Kerr (Bryan), Anne Whelan and the late Paul Whelan (Mary Katherine) all of Toronto. Peter will be fondly remembered by his family, many friends and colleagues. He was a man who enjoyed many facets of life, his work, travel, hunting and was a long time member of the Kanata Symphony Orchestra and Holy Redeemer Knights of Columbus Council 9544. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. at Richmond Rd., Ottawa, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 44 Rothesay Dr., Kanata (south of the Hazeldean Mall) Monday, December 31st, 2007 at 11 a.m. Special thanks to the Queensway Carleton Hospital medical and nursing staff for their excellent care of Peter and Mary.
