DOYLE, Alice Mary (St. John) (nee Bindon) - 93
The Toronto Star, April 13. 2012

formerly of St. John's, NL passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday in Toronto. She was predeceased by husband of 35 years Charles St. John, husband of 20 years Francis Doyle, daughter Lynn and 8 siblings. She is survived by sisters Kay (NL), Eleanor (FLA) and Regina (MA). She will lovingly be remembered by children Wayne (Melanie), Andre (Luisa), Colleen (John), Charlene (Jim), Michael, Sharon and Kelly (Andre). She will also be missed by 2 great- grandchildren Dallas and Sophia and 12 grandchildren especially Kaleigh who took care of her and spent so much time with her the last few years. Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Sunday, April 14th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 15th at 10 a.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 3265 Weston Rd., with burial to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens, 1810 Albion Rd. Alice earned a degree in nursing and served as public health nurse in many towns around the bay during World War II. Upon arrival in Toronto 1945 she went to work at Toronto General, and Women's College Hospital. After raising 8 children and delivering her first grandchild she returned to nursing at the Humber Hospital. She was a life-long bingo player and played regularly with her friend Gloria, she also loved to shop and spent many winters in Florida doing just that. Alice supported the Princess Margaret Hospital and memorial donations can be sent there in lieu of flowers. EDSTROM, Francis Albert
The Toronto Star, Toronto, Ontario, December 14, 2013

Died peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at home in his 79th year. Albert of Ontario/ Newfoundland, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Dinn). Loving father of Donna (Bob Watson), Harry (Brenda), Joan (Joe Freeman), Albert Jr. (Suzanne) and Millie Edstrom. Dear grandfather of Bobby, Amanda, Jennifer, Celina, James, Crystal, Ashley and Holly and great-grandfather of Mia, Bella, Stella, Ashlynn and Tyson. Survived by sister Bridie McGrath and brothers Mike and Pat McGrath. Predeceased by brothers Joe Hurdle and Bill, Ed and Leo McGrath. Albert will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family throughout Ontario and Newfoundland. A ceremony will be held in the summer of 2014 both in Newfoundland and Ontario. HICKS, Reginald Blount

March 22, 1924 - December 11, 2013

passed away peacefully at Southlake Village Residential Care Centre in Newmarket with June and Liane by his side. Beloved husband of June (Cooper) for almost 60 years. Dear father of Nancy (Bob) Koubsky, Judith (Andrew) Williams and Liane Pitura. Loving grandfather of Rebecca and Emily Williams and Adam Pitura. Brother to Melvin Hicks and Dulcie Keyes. Predeceased by brothers Willis and Clifford, sisters Verna and Ruby. Born in Bonavista, Newfoundland, Blount came to Kingston in 1946 and later to Toronto where he worked at Canada Varnish and BASF. He retired from BASF after 30 years of loyal service. Cremation has taken place and a private service for close family members will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southlake Village Residential Care Centre in Newmarket or the charity of your choice. YOUNG, JAMES CECIL "CURLY"

James Cecil Young
, 88 of Chatsworth, Ontario, was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. James, also known as Jim or Curly, was born in Pointe Amour, Newfoundland on October 6, 1924 and came to Toronto in the 1950's. He was raised in North Sydney, Cape Breton, NS. Curly (Papa and Grandpa) will be forever loved and missed by his daughter Kathy (Bill Sneddon and Hugh Ivey), sons, Robert (Denise), Scott and Shawn (Reanne); grandchildren, Jason (Lisa), Brian, Hughie (Naomi), Sherry and Avery; great- grandchildren, Ayden, Evan, Hailee, Grace and Dylan. Predeceased by his wife of 43 years Jeannie MCLean. He will be dearly missed by hundreds of nieces, nephews, friends and family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 101, 3850 Lakeshore Blvd. West (Browns Line and Lakeshore).
