SNOW, Reverend Etta M.

Date of Birth Friday, January 21st, 1927
Date of Death Tuesday, March 29th, 2016

Passed away suddenly at home in Etobicoke, ON on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 aged 89 after a full and distinguished life. Born in Bay Roberts, NL, she is predeceased by her parents Philip and May; sister Helen; brothers Mark, Warren, Edward, Raymond, Sutherland and Philip Jr.; close friends, Lillian Taylor and Kay Pearson. Etta will be forever loved by her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Left with cherished memories are her numerous friends including Rev. Dr. Marion Pardy, Rev. Joyce Myers-Brown and the Umbundu people of Angola who called her "Ondembeleki" - the Comforter. After serving there as a United Church missionary for 23 years, she returned to Canada and was the first U.C. female from NL to be ordained. She then served pastoral charges in ON retiring after 60 years of faithful ministry. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Thursday and Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9p.m. Funeral service will be held at Humbervale United Church, 1447 Royal York Rd. on Saturday at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to the Angola Memorial Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
