GREENE, (Power) Madonna Veronica, 76
NEW BEDFORD
Madonna Veronica (Power) Greene
, 76, of Blaire House, formerly of Beverly Street, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, after a long illness. She was the widow of William J. Greene and daughter of the late William and Catherine Power. Born in Tor's Cove, Newfoundland, she lived in the Boston area and then Fairhaven before moving to New Bedford in 1965. She was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church. She was formerly employed by the former Union/Parkwood Hospital in the housekeeping department until her retirement. Mrs. Greene enjoyed traveling in her leisure time.

Survivors include three sons, Albert Greene of Florida, William P. Greene of Rhode Island and Michael F. Greene of New Bedford; a sister, Angela Drew of Newfoundland; a brother, Albert Power of Newfoundland; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Herbert M. Greene and sister of the late Frances Hannaford and James Power. Arrangements are by the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.


HOFFMANN, Florence A. (Foley)
SYOSSET, N.Y.

Funeral services were held in New York on Thursday, Oct. 17, 1996, for Florence A. (Foley) Hoffmann, 82, who died in Florida on Saturday, Oct. 12, 1996, after a long illness. She was the widow of Lawrence Hoffmann and daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Cooney) Foley.

Born in Argentia, Newfoundland, she came to the United States when she was 4, living mostly in New Bedford before moving to New York 51 years ago. She lived in Valley Stream and later in Syosset. Before she got married, she was employed by the Veterans' Administration. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Casselberry, Fla. Mrs. Hoffman served as a den mother for various Cub Scout troops.

Survivors include two sons, James Hoffmann of Parkland, Fla., and Lawrence Hoffmann of Glen Cove, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan Stizza of Syosset and Cynthia Tremblay of Casselberry, Fla.; three brothers, James C. Foley of New Bedford, John R. Foley of Centerville, and Ronald F. Foley of Fairhaven; two sisters, Mary T. Cleveland and Genevieve E. Foley, both of New Bedford; nine grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by the Donnelley & Purcell Funeral Home, 203 Euclid Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y. Due to a clerical error, Mrs. Hoffmann's last name was misspelled throughout Thursday's obituary.


MAHONEY, Grace M. (Penton)
NEW BEDFORD
Grace M. (Penton) Mahoney
, 69, died Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, after a long illness. Mrs. Mahoney died at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Fred G. Mahoney and daughter of the late Aeneas and Catherine (Greene) Penton. She was born in Joe Batts Arm, Fogo Island, Newfoundland, and came to the United States in 1949. She moved to New Bedford in 1952. She formerly was employed by the Aerovox Corp. as a data-processing operator until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Lawrence, Martyr Church.

Survivors, in addition to her widower, include a brother, Pierce Penton of New Bedford; three sisters, Mabel Parsons of St. John's, Newfoundland, Bernadette Walsh of Toronto, Ontario, and Josephine Maher of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St.
