It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bernadette George announce her passing on Wednesday, January 31st, 2007 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 80 years. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 63 years Anthony George; children: Ron (Linda), Paul (Maureen), Keith (Gwen), Peggy Young (Butch), Tony (Roxanne); grandchildren: Lori, Krista, Michael, Keary, Neil, Kelly, Tanya, Michael, Robbie, Scott, Stephen, Philip and Andrew, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Louise & Edward Boland, infant daughter Mary Lou and her 11 siblings: Mary Battock, Jack Boland, Joseph Boland, Irene Lally, Annette Boland Sister Francis Boland, Basil Boland, William Boland, Margaret Hayes, Gertrude Johnson and Belle McCarthy. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Chesley (Bram) Clarke announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the age of 77 years. He will be forever remembered by a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Willis Clarke and mother, Julia Clarke (Harney), brother, Willison and his first wife, Dorothy (Green) Clarke. , 92, passed away on January 29th, 2007 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing. Born in St. George's on December 22nd, 1914, he was the eldest son of the late George Alfred and Edith May (nee Gilliam) Pieroway. Ken is survived by sisters: Pam (H.B.) Orr, May (D.B.) Dorey and Sonia (A.V.) Comeau, all of Halifax area. He was pre-deceased by his parents and by sisters: Gloria (in childhood), Cora (J.F.) Murphy, Mary (A.G.) DeWolfe; brothers: George Alfred (in childhood), Morgan W. and George Israel. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium, Pasadena. A private family burial to be at a later date. Our precious angel was taken from us too soon. Tameron joined the angels in heaven on February 1st, 2007. She will be sadly missed by her loving children: Keith which whom she resided with, Denise Squires of Ottawa, Ontario, Shari (Frank Reiser) of Gander, NL and Kurt (Lisa Squires) of Torbay, NL; her five grandchildren: Derek, Alexander, Maria, Kyle and Katlyn; her sisters: Jessie Dempsey, Christina Gillard both of Englee, NL, Mary (Ross Fillier) of St. Anthony and Beatrice Pelly of Main Brook, NL and her brother John (Netta Edgar) of Corner Brook, NL; also leaves to mourn a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Keough announce her sudden passing on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre, in Norris Point in her 78th year. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her loving family. Her children: Rosanna (Joe) of Brampton, ON, Puis (Bertha) of St. Paul's, Violet of Corner Brook, Glen (Masie), Francis (Dale) and Terri (Justin) all of St. Paul's. Her 14 grandchildren: Kelly, Quintin, Randy, Andrew, Jerome, Leeann, Heather, Dixie (Coralee), Cara (Sabrina), Nicki (Eugene), John Ross, Jennifer, Jada, and Jenna. Her 10 great-grandchildren: Bryan, Brandon, Kyle, Kyler, Austin, Eric, Brittney, Dawsen, Willow, and Belaine. Her brother James Bennett and her sister Mrs. Rillie Bryan. Also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Raymond Keough, her 3 sons: Sterling, Jerome and Wilson, grandson Steven and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. SHEARS, Elfreda "Nellie" (Nee Case)
Stephenville Crossing, NL

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, following a brief illness. Born in 1920 in Salmon Cove, Conception Bay, she grew up in nearby Perry's Cove. In 1943 she graduated from the General Hospital in St. John's as a Registered Nurse and worked in a number of Cottage Hospitals throughout Newfoundland. In 1949 she accepted a nursing position at the Cottage Hospital in Stephenville Crossing, where she met and married William L. "Hap" Shears, who predeceased her in 1975. Nellie was active in the Anglican Church Woman's Association for over 50 years, as well as the Masonic Ladies Auxiliary and the Woman's Institute. She is survived by her sons: Claude (Kathy) of Porter's Lake, NS and Lloyd, Vancouver, BC; granddaughter: Carolyn Harris (Corey), Dartmouth, NS; grandsons: John Shears, Calgary, AB and Mark Shears, Porter's Lake, NS; brother-in-law: George Dingwell, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Reverend Guy Case and his wife Eileen, Napanee, ON, and her sister Joyce Dingwell, Corner Brook. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing on Monday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m., and Tuesday, 10-12 noon. The Funeral Service will take place at All Saint's Anglican Church, Main Street, Stephenville Crossing on Tuesday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment in the church cemetery. LEWIS, Naomi Agnes
Corner Brook, NL
October 13th, 1906 - February 5th, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Naomi Lewis announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 100 years. She was born at Silverton, Bonne Bay, the daughter of Henry Norris and Elizabeth Janes and grew up at Stanleyville, Bonne Bay. She was a pioneer when she moved to Corner Brook in 1924. Construction work was just starting for both the paper mill and the town. She married John Lewis in 1928 and they started married life on East Valley Road, then moved to Reid Street where she lived for 52 years. On Reid Street she always had a lovely garden that was admired by many passers-by and many times she shared her flowers with neighbors so they would have bouquets to put on family graves at the cemeteries for flower services. She moved to the Seniors Cottages at the Interfaith Home in 1982 and enjoyed having flower beds for 24 years until in 2006 she had to leave because of failing health. She was always interested in what was happening in the world, both near and far. Left with many wonderful memories are daughters: Jean (Leslie) Coombs, Corner Brook, NL, Verna (Thomas) Corder, Perryville, AR, USA, Margaret Ormandy, Mississauga, ON; sister Emma Janes, Deer Lake, NL; brother-in-law Foster Lewis, Meadows, NL. She is also survived by grandchildren: Dr. Heather Coombs, Montreal, QC, Brenda (Terry) Anstey, Corner Brook, NL, Bruce (Kim) Coombs, Pasadena, NL, Craig (Lamonda) Corder, Maureen Corder, both of Little Rock, AR, Neil (Michele) Corder, Conway, AR; great-grandchildren: Andrea and Matthew Coombs, Pasadena, NL, Derek and Raegan Corder, Conway, AR; step-great-grandson Michael Clamp, Corner Brook, NL; step-great-granddaughters: Savannah, Brianna and Hannah Slape, Little Rock, AR. He will be sadly missed by his two brothers: Phonse Rowe of Ottawa and Stanley Rowe of Xavier House, Corner Brook; two sisters: Theresa Liddy of Addison, Illinois and Monica Anderson (George) with whom he resided in Irishtown; and he will be sadly missed by the Anderson family, nieces, nephews and friends. 1929 - 2007
Sheila White
, 77, of Peoples Park Tower Moncton, passed away at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital following a sudden illness on Wednesday, February 7, 2007. Born in Outer Cove, NF; she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary Croake. Sheila was a member of Holy Family Parish, Falkland Dr. Moncton. She enjoyed travelling on bus tours, bowling and playing cards especially with her card buddies, Carmel, Billie and Paul. A loving mother, grandmother and friend to all she will be sadly missed by her five daughters Donna (Gary Tingley), of Moncton, Maxine (Bob Eidt) of Fredericton, Judy (Bruce Dougan) of Riverview, Lisa White (Lisa Marshall) of Toronto and Nancy (Rick Crossman), her son Max White Jr. (Ann Marie); fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, also by her former daughter-in-law Patricia of Stephenville, NF. She was predeceased by her husband Maxim Joseph White, her son Stephen White. Sheila was the last surviving member of her immediate family. At Sheila's request there is no viewing at the funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Moncton on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:00 am Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Spurrell announces her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the age of 69 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughter, DoraLee Roberts of Corner Brook; sons:  Christopher Terriak of New Brunswick, Edward Terriak Fox of St. John's, and Michael Terriak of Corner Brook; six grandchildren; the MacDonald family, with whom she resided for 12 years; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Spurrell (1995); son, Robert; daughter, Nancy; brother, Joel Tullak; a sister; and parents, Joel & Persida Tullak. Private family visitation with cremation to follow. A service of remembrance will be held at Country Haven Chapel on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Joseph Gorman
, age 53 years, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 26, 2007, with his loving wife Nadine Roche (Koots) by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father Clifford and mother Eileen. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his son Joel (Jennifer); grandson Riley; grandma Jean Warren, Timmins, ON; brothers: Sean (Margie), Yellowknife, NWT and Michael (Margie) Corner Brook, NL; sister Claire, Halifax, NS and nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by parents-in-law Michael & Odile Roche, St. John's, NL; sisters-in-law: Lisa Rogers (Martin), London U.K., Heidi Clark (Steven), St. John's, NL and Chantal Hoskins (Jason), St. John's, NL; his very close friend Boyd Laing; friends and co-workers at the Dept. of Natural Resources; special friend Anne Lake; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John's. Visitation Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Service on Thursday, March 1st, 2007 at 2 p.m. from Caul's Chapel. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, by request in his memory donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Blanche Anderson announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Monday, February 26th, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Mary Mishaud (Joe), Joe Piercey (Loretta), Dave Piercey and Terry Anderson; step-children: Wil Anderson (Theresa) and George Anderson (Monica); 13 grandchildren: Wally, Monty, Debbie, Wanda, Lori, Gail, Sterling, Wade, Dean, Dermon, Marcie, Deon and Angie; 16 great grandchildren; four great great children; seven step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; sister: Rita Bronson, Boston, Mass.; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by first husband Timothy Piercey, 1945, second husband William Anderson, 1987, infant son; great grandson Joey, 1993, great great grandson Brady, 2000; sisters: Mary Bennett, Genevieve Bennett; brothers: Johnny, Felix and Joe Gallant; daughter-in-law: Georgina Piercey, 1994; brothers-in-law: William and Douglas Bennett; sisters-in-law: Margaret and Monica Gallant. Friends may visit St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Church, Irish Town on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 1st, at 10:00 a.m. from All Hallows Church, Humber Road. Fr. Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
