It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Pike announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at the age of 80 years. She will be sadly missed by her two sons: Dave Pike of Gillams, John (Shirley) Pike of Stephenville; three daughters: Beryl (Vince) Simon of Ontario, Frances (Oswald) Tilley of St. John's, Joyce (Joe) Kelly of Marystown; daughter-in-law, Helen Pike of St. John's; one sister, Joyce (Ted) Pygall of England; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special friend Ruby and Len Ryan and family of Stephenville as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1994, her son Leonard in 1997 and daughter-in-law Flora Pike in 2000. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 2nd at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stephen's Parish, West Street, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy, flowers accepted or donations to the Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maude Frances Bennett announce her passing on Tuesday, February 26th, 2002 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Prince Edward Island in her 63rd year. She will be sadly missed by her loving children: Roslyn (Warren), Lenas (Samanda), Zelda (Willie) and Lyle (Bonnie); ten grandchildren. Her mother Rebecca Bennett; four sisters: Daisy, Vera (Rendell), Marie (Kevin), Linda (Peter), and one brother Felix. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice, father Freeman and sister Rose. Visitation will take place from the Holy Spirit Parish in St. Paul's today, Friday and Saturday where also Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Mudge announce her passing at her family residence on Thursday, February 28, 2002 at the age of 87. She will be sadly missed by sons John with whom she resided, and Nelson (Sylvia) of New Glasgow. Daughter-in-law Jean of Corner Brook, three grandchildren: Terry, Todd and Sandra. Sister Vivian (Robert) Butler of Kelligrews and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband Henry, two sons Roland and Howard, brother William and her parents Jack and Clara (Humber) Hopkins. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2002 between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a service at Country Haven Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will also take place at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Norris Point on Monday, March 4, 2002 from 12 - 1 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nathaniel Hickey announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 28th, 2002 at the age of 70 years. The much anticipated and highly awaited birth of our daughter Katelyn Rose happened on February 2, 2002, at 2:54 a.m. at the Health Science Centre in St. John's. She came into this world weighing 7 lb. 8 ounces and is the apple of her parents Ralph and Melita Martin of Mount Pearl eye. Congratulations comes from her sister Jennifer and brother Jason, all relatives and friends and especially from grandparents Stedman & Effie Brophy of Daniel's Harbour, and Thomas and Florence Martin of Lamaline.

Carl and Pamela (nee Fiander) are thrilled to announce the arrival of their first child, Logan Ryan, January 13, 2002, at 5:46 p.m. weighing 6 lb. 14 oz. at the Health Science Centre, St. John's. Proud grandparents are Nanny Pat Layden of Pennfield, NB, and Poppy Marvin Layden in heaven, Nannie Jean Fiander of Corner Brook and Grampa William Fiander in heaven. Passed peacefully away on Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Clare's Hospital, Peter Roland Brinson Sr., age 68 years, of Seal Cove, son of the late Jesse and Eva (Coles) Brinson of Carmenville. Leaving to mourn loving wife Elizabeth (Osmond); daughters: Sandy Drover (Terry), Deer Lake, Lori Brinson, Toronto, Dale Cluney (Lester), Toronto, Roxanne Haynes, Toronto and Kimberly Brinson, Grand Prairie; sons: Peter Jr. (Kimberly French), St. John's and Landen (Sarah Ross) Topsail; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Caravan (Max), Deer Lake; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving visitors at their residence at 1490 Seal Cove, between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons: Ingram, Trout River, Hubert (Carol), Ontario and Allan, Trout River; daughter Janet (Guy) Crocker, Trout River; six grandchildren: Mildred Wellon (Ron Perrier), Huena (Terry) Buckle, Christina (Danny) Dalley, Dwayne Crocker (Robyn Parsons), Carla Crocker (Dean Bemister) and Roxanne (Rick) Wilton; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Isaac Crocker and sisters-in-law: Leah Brake and Sophie Brake. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, 1986, parents Hubert and Annie, daughters: Lowetta, 1945 and Nora Crocker Oct. 22nd, 2001, son-in-law Rex Crocker, sister Florence, brothers: Sidian, Tom, Cecil, Ambrose and Eric, step-brother Hubert Duval. Visitation will take place today from the Anglican Church in Trout River, from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Canon David Pearce officiating. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Amy (nee McKay); five daughters: Verna (Bill) Simms, Maxine Snow (friend, Andrew), Brenda (Paul) Griffin, Catherine (Mike) Legge and Beverley (Mark) LaCosta; special cousin, Dave McKay Jr.; eight grandchildren: Beth and Rebecca Simms, Jonathan and Lindsay Griffin, April, Stephanie and Amber Legge, and Gregory LaCosta; five brothers: Austin Snow, Gander, Harold (Elizabeth), Bernard (Linda), Calvin (Glenis) and Maurice (Peggy) Moyles, all residing in Lewisporte; sisters: Marion Laite, Ruby (Earl) Brown, Daisy Tucker, Lewisporte, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by parents Frederick Snow and Claudia Moyles and sister Rita Snow. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Sunday morning from 10-12 noon. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 31st at 3:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street, Rev. Percy Coffin officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Receiving Chapel. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, donations may be made to All Saints Church Building Fund, The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Corner Brook.

BRUCE, Henrietta
Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home, St. John's, on Thursday, March 28, 2002, Henrietta Bruce, age 82 years. Predeceased by her husband, Leo, 1991. Leaving to mourn her son John Bruce; grandchildren: Megan and Robert, as well as many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 1th, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Stephenville.
