It is with great sadness that the family of the late Pauline Verna (Curtis) Barrett announce her passing on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her family residence, surrounded by her loving family, in her 59th year. Leaving to mourn: her loving husband of 40 years, Robert Kenneth Barrett; two children: Chad Robert Barrett (Vicki Martin) and Michelle Janice Barrett (Wade Paul); her precious grandchildren: Curtis and Riley Barrett, with special mention to Colton, Connor and Oliver; her mother, Bertha Combdon; brothers: Jim (Marilyn), Lloyd (Elenor), Larry (Lily), Ivan (Linda), Calvin (Jessie) and Jerry; stepbrother, Wayne (Wanda) Combdon; sisters: Blanche (Bill) Gilley, Melva (Rex) King and Janice (Chris) Pike; her in-laws: Kathleen Curtis, Arch (Mary) Barrett, Jean Barrett, Linda Taylor (Ray Barrow), Annie (Shawn) Piercey and Mable Woolridge. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Curtis; stepfather, Cyril Combdon; sister, Milda Pearce; brother, Robert E. The family will be receiving family and friends from the Anglican Church of the Acension in Howley on Tuesday, July 29th, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. where also the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. BARRY, Scott
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Barry at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on July 1st, 2014 at the age of 59 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mag, his daughter Michelle (Greg) Dyck in Corner Brook and his mother Jessie in Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn are his five brothers: Cyril, Francis (Colleen), Kenny (Betty), Tommy (Debbie), Shawn, his six sisters: Theresa, Pricilla, Christina, Jean, Debbie (Steve), Lisa (Bruce), his grandson Jesse and a large circle of brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Reginald. Visitation will take place on Thursday July 3rd , 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Russells Funeral Home in Stephenville. BEALES, Valerie Anne

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Valerie Anne Beales announce her passing at her residence on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at the age of 62 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters: Tracy Lynn (Jonathon Snow) and Sheila Harview (Scott); son Sean (Blaine); grandchildren: Shane, Griffin, and Blake; her princess Kara-Anne and Nicholas; sister Sheila Elstob (Ed) of Tewksbury, Mass.; brothers: Jim Fitzgerald (Gladys) and Thomas Fitzgerald Jr.; sister-in-law Tina Fitzgerald, as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Michael Beales (2011), father and mother Thomas Fitzgerald (1989) and Mary Fitzgerald (1986), sister Marge Fitzgerald (2012), mother-in-law Hazel Beales (1996), father-in-law Ronald Beales (1976), and nephew Clifford (1988). In keeping with Valerie's wishes, cremation has taken place. BENNETT, Leslie Daniel
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leslie Daniel Bennett announce his passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL. Leslie Daniel Bennett (Benoit), an independent man of deep convictions and strong emotions who loved the outdoors, lost the battle of his life to cancer on July 31St, 2014. Leslie, originally of Flat Bay but recently of Stephenville Crossing, was predeceased by his parents, Merrill Bennett (Benoit) and Martina Compagnon, his nephew John Lee and brother-in-law Jeremiah Downey. Leslie leaves his beloved children, Martina Clarke (Darrell) and Ian (Diane), to go forward with the knowledge that they were everything to him. He also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren, Connor, Christopher, and Sydney, of whom he spoke with great affection and love. Left to mourn Leslie are nine siblings whose love for him knew no bounds: Terrance (Marsha), Lorraine Downey, Nora Orndoff (Mike), William (Greta), Alphonse (Ramona), Anna Lee, Christine Avery (Francis), Marion Nelma (Courtney), and Laura (Ivan). Leslie also leaves his loving nephews and nieces for whom he always showed concern as they grew into adulthood. Donna, Paul, David, Victor, John, William, Cheryl, Sara Lea, Julia Ann, Justin, Jamie, Susan, Shirley, Nancy, Doug and David Michael will remember him fondly. Father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle, Leslie wore many hats in his life and he will be greatly missed. May he be at peace in the heavens while keeping an eye on those left behind until they all meet again. Love now and forever. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Eric Archibald Borden
, 80, of Corner Brook, passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on July 26, 2014. He was born on November 25, 1933 in Corner Brook to the late Archibald and Eliza Ann Borden of Greenings Hill. Eric loved the great outdoors. He loved camping and spent many days salmon or trout fishing and moose or caribou hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his many children and grandchildren and was quick to lend a helping hand with home or school projects. He loved seeing his family growing and making their way in life. Eric was a machinist at Bowaters and then Corner Brook Pulp and Paper for 42 years. He was an active member of IAMAW and spent time on the union executive. He retired in 1993. Eric is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (nee Buffett) of almost 60 years; six children: daughter Jennifer (Frank) Bruce, daughter Brenda (Dave deceased) Ginn, son Eric (Giselle) Borden, daughter Lynn (Rod) Gillam, son Ron (Cindi) Borden, daughter Alison (Trevorr) Nielsen; three surviving siblings: sister Betty (Boyce) Hallett, brother Larry (Beatrice) Borden, brother Bernard (Ann) Borden; thirteen grandchildren: Andrea (Barry) Williams, Rhonda (Mike) Langille, Laura Ginn, Peter Ginn, Stephen (Bernadine) Borden, Elizabeth (Ryne) Hepditch, David Borden, Jeremy Gillam, Kara Rae Gillam, Danielle Borden, Tyler Borden, Nadia Nielsen, Ari Nielsen; and his three great-grandchildren: Erica Williams, Jacob Langille and Ryder Borden; and many friends and relatives. Eric was preceded in death by his father, Archibald Borden, mother Eliza Ann Borden, brother John (Jack) Borden and brother Pearce Borden. The family would like to send warm and sincere thanks to Dr. Ismail, Paula Parham, CHF nurse and the ICU staff for their care and attention as well to the 3rd floor medicine staff. A funeral service will be held at Fillatre's Funeral Home Chapel on St. Mark's Avenue in Corner Brook at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Brewer announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the age of 70 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 48 years, Ruth (nee Shortliffe); children: Chrissy Brewer (Terry), Deanna Marshall (Carl), Brian Brewer (Anna), and Patrick Brewer; grandchildren: Meagan, Alex and Anna Marshall, Jayden, Logan, Julianna and Sadie Brewer, Luke Sheppard; mother in law Peggy Shortliffe; brother John Brewer (Jean); sisters: Mary Nickerson and Barbara Nickerson (Courtney); sisters in law Margie Cooper and Nancy Garven (Thom); brothers in law Harold Shortliffe and David Shortliffe, as well as a large circle of nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents Edith and Norman Brewer, and father in law Ivan Shortliffe. Gordon was a founding member of the Blow Me Down Ski Club and the Bay of Islands Yacht Club. He was a dedicated volunteer with Cross Country Canada, a Fellow of the Appraisal Institute of Canada and a long time member of the Corner Brook Baptist Church. Gordon loved life and lived it to the fullest to the end. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret (Margie) Comeau announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL on July 14, 2014. Left with loving memories are her husband Greg, daughter Danielle, son-in-law Stephen, and three grandchildren who were the light of her life: Nicholas, Maria, and Victoria. She joins pre-deceased parents Michael and Mary Carroll and brother Wayne Carroll of Placentia, NL. She will be greatly missed by her four brothers; Bill (Flo) Carroll, Andy (Lucy) Carroll, Michael "Junie" (Glenda) Carroll, and Brian Carroll. Also, sisters in law; Anne (Dieter) Schroeder, Blanche (Arnold) Hughes, Anne Marie Carroll, and brother in law Brad (Winnie) Comeau, all her beloved nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Resting at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville on Wednesday, July 16th from 2 pm - 4pm and 7 pm - 9pm. Her life will be celebrated in a funeral mass on Thursday, July 17th at 10 am at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Stephenville. Passed away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on July 23, 2014, Rosella Dyer, age 72 years. Rosella was a long-time teacher at St. Francis of Assisi School, Outer Cove. Predeceased by her husband Michael, leaving to mourn her daughters; Colleen (Gus), Dolores (John) and Dianne (Paula). She will be sadly missed by her three grandsons; Cody Harvey, Liam and Zac Manuel. Left with loving memories her brother Patrick Ezekiel in Toronto, brother Richard Williams (Barb) and two sisters Mary Ellen Ryan (Henry deceased) and Florence Tulk (Ron) in Corner Brook. She will be lovingly remembered by the Dyer and Cadigan families, many nieces, nephews, friends, students and all who knew her. A special thank you to her teacher friends for their visits over the years, especially Mary Roche, Rosemary Ford and Betty Power. Your kindness never went unnoticed and was a great support. The family is deeply grateful to Dr. Patrick O'Shea, Mary Jane Bennett and the staff and volunteers on 3 West at St. Patrick's Mercy Home for their unfailing kindness and professionalism. She was the beloved wife of Richard Gilpin; loving mother of Melissa Ryan, Ottawa, Michael Moreau, Belleville, Megan Gough (Kameron James), Peterborough, and Jeffrey Stamplecoskie, Peterborough; her precious grandchildren who loved her dearly: Johnny, Katrina, Steven, Brandon, Jade, Shannon, Devon, Austin, Nicholas, Logan, and Dominik; her biological father Rick Corbett and sisters: Sherri, Tammi, and Kelli. Laurie's life was blessed as she had two families. She was raised and loved in Corner Brook, NL by her Great Aunt and Uncle Dinah and Gordon Osmond and four brothers: Rod (Shirley), Wayne (Mary), Gary (Sheri), and Sev; sister-in-law Ina Osmond. She was predeceased by her adoptive mother Dinah Osmond (nee Hewitt), biological mother Judy Corbett (nee Randell); biological grandparents Dorothy Stephenson (nee Hewitt) and Ches Randell. Embraced by her family and with her usual grace and dignity, our beloved Monica "let her soul and spirit fly into the mystic" on the evening of July 17th. A graduate of Memorial University and McGill, Monica was a gifted ESL teacher much loved by her students and colleagues in Montreal, Muscat, Dubai, Doha and St. John's. Generous to a fault, fun loving and fashionable, she was the life of any party. Monica's passion for life, her "joie de vivre", and great courage in adversity inspired us all. Monica was loved deeply and devotedly cared for by her family, close friends and a supportive medical team. Cherished youngest daughter of the late Cecil and Alice (Butler) Ledwell, Monica was also predeceased by her Grandparents Vince and Monica Ledwell, Mary Ellen and Michael Butler, two infant siblings and other dear relatives. She is mourned by her sisters Jean Ann, OSU; Patrice, Elizabeth, Barbara; brothers James, Francis (Helen Pittman) John and Cecil (Rhonda) and sister-in-law Helen; by her devoted nieces and nephews: Godson Jonathan, Mark (Ruth) and Kristofor Watton, and their dad Wayne; Francis (Melissa) Alicia, Ralene (Shane) and Ashley (Danny) and great nephews Kaden, Mason and Wyatt; by her dear Aunt Madonna; by her "best" and lifelong girlfriends, and a wide circle of cousins, friends and colleagues from around the world. Monica was overjoyed to welcome her first great nieces Beatrix and Madeleine the day before her death. The Liturgy of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, July 26, at Mary Queen of Peace Parish (135 Torbay Road) with a reception to follow. Monica's ashes will be interred in Calvert and sprinkled on the waters in the beautiful Codroy Valley, her birthplace. In her memory, donations to The Gathering Place (172 Military Road, P.O. Born in Heatherton N.L., on June 11, 1941, son of the late Tolbert Legge, passed away in Stephenville, N.L., on July 31, 2014. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Joseph Tolbert "Dean" Legge, age 73 of Heather N.L. Dean passed away at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Tuesday, July 31, 2014 after a brief illness. Dean touched the lives of many people with his kindness and love of nature. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in May 1961 and later founded his own company, T.D. Legge Construction Ltd. Dean is survived by countless friends and family who were blessed to have known him and will be forever remembered by his family including mother Grace (Butt) Legge; daughters, Keile and Cynthia (Leo) Capstick. He was known as "Grandad" by his grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Ali, Louisa, Lissie and as "Great Grandad" by his great-grandson Eli. She will be greatly missed.

A beloved man, Bill O'Reilly, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 1, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 44. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Edward (Kay), Jim (Tracy), Alice Marie (Dave Molloy), Tom (Millie), Jean Beauchamp, Dave (Sandra), Marianne (Dave Carter), 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and sister Jean Vallis, sister-in-law Bertha Vallis and a large number of Nieces & Nephews from the Vallis and Rogers Family. Loretta was Predeceased by her husband James Rogers, parents Tom & Alice Vallis, Sister Minnie and husband Edward Ridgley, sister Susanna and husband Jack Giovaninni, brother Tom Vallis, son-in-law Ted Beauchamp, two grandchildren Michelle (Molloy) Fraser and Cathy Beauchamp. Loretta was born in Ramea. At the age of 13 years, she attended the Sisters of Mercy Boarding school in St. Georges and studied Commercial. On returning to Ramea, she went to work in the office of John Penny & Sons. Loretta married Jim Rogers and raised a family of seven children. She then attended summer school and proceeded to teach at the Vocational school in Corner Brook where she became supervisor within that system. Upon her retirement of age of 65, she moved to St. Johns, the home of her husband. She returned to the west coast in 2012 and resided at the Acadian Village until her death. Mom was an avid reader and loved her card game. She would gladly take on all challengers in a game of Crib. Loretta will be cremated. Formely of Corner Brook, NL. Passed away at Brampton Civic Hospital. She was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (nee Vincent) Prosper. Carol's beautiful smile and kind heart touched many in her 63 years. She was always a stylish dresser, as well as an excellent cook, home maker, bargain hunter and musician. Carol constantly went out of her way to bring joy to people's lives with her helpful nature and teasing sense of humour. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin and friend. In respect for Carol's wishes, a private cremation and a small memorial will be held for family and close friends.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 53 years Bruce; children: Darrold (Brenda), Deborah (Malcolm Campbell), Darren (Stacey), grandchildren: Jade, Courtney, Lacey, Julia, Cody, great-grandson Chase; brothers: Hubert (Geraldine), Cliff (Viola), Wilson (May), Jerry (Paulette); sisters and brothers-in-law: Ethel Crews, Lulu Williams, Beryl Williams, Gertie (Roger) Short, Howard (Jean) Williams, Violet Roberts, Peggy (Winston) Pardy, Christine (Clarence) Caines and special friend and "sister" Phyllis Rogers, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Morley and Winnifred Locke, mother and father-in-law DJ and Annabelle Williams, brothers-in-law: Cyril Williams, Thomas Crews, Bronson Williams and Cecil Roberts. Friends may visit Emmanuel Pentecostal Church today, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 6th at 2 p.m. with Pastor George Coles officiating, interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Wight's Road Deer Lake. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Place.
