of Claudia Bortz (nee Hilliard) on Monday, August
13, 2012, Homestead Hospital,
Florida, at the age of 70 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories
are: her loving husband of 51 years CMSgt. Eugene Bortz, son Chalmer and
wife Grace of Melbourne, FL, daughter Cynthia and grandson Michael of Homestead,
FL. Also leaving to mourn are her sisters: Rowena (Wiseman) Saint John, NB;
Nada (Bruce Borden) Corner Brook, NL; Neva (Chris VanNetten) Mission, BC;
Verna (Tony Jordan) Ottawa, ON; and brothers: Colin (Joanne Stone) and Gerard

by her parents John R. (Jack) and Bertha Hilliard and her brother-in-law
Gordon Wiseman. Funeral services were conducted by Major Rowena Wiseman at
the South Florida State National Cemetery on August 17, 2012, where her remains
were laid to rest.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Jenetta Annie Butler announce
her passing after a lengthy battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on Wednesday,
August 22nd 2012, at her family home in Trout River with her family by her
side, at the age of 67. She was born on May 19th 1945 to Annie and Daniel Snooks,
she married George Butler on July 31st, 1967 and was blessed with 5 daughters.
Jenetta was a very strong and determined woman; she has weathered many storms
throughout her life. She was self-employed and owned her own confectionary
store, Butlers Confectionary for 30 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and
loving memories 3 daughters: Maureen Snooks (Derek Barnes), Tina (Dennis) Crocker,
Gloria Butler (Brent Crocker), 5 grandchildren: Glenn Snooks, Amy Snooks (Timmy),
George Crocker (Brooke), Brian Crocker, MatthewButler all of Trout River and
1 great grandson Dorman White of Trout River,sister Margaret Parsons of Woody
Point, brother Russell Snooks of Trout River, sisters in law Whelemena Snooks,

Goldie Coles, aged 93 years died peacefully August 7 at Curtis Memorial Hospital,
St. Anthony. She will be sadly missed. Goldie had a passion for knitting, and
for visiting the sick and shut-ins in her home communities of Reef's Harbour
and Shoal Cove West. She was a founding member of one of the earliest established
Nfld. & Labrador Pensioners and Senior Citizens 50+ Clubs, formed at Plum
Point more than 30 years ago. She is survived by daughters: Annie, Melvina, Elizabeth
Coles Ouellette (Marcell) and Trudy, as well as sons: Allister (Susan), Wallace
(Imelda), Curline, Seymore, George, Elijah, Roy, Lance, Elias and son-in-law
Abe Way. Goldie also has a sister Gertrude, two brothers: Curtis Gaulton (Annette),
Freeman Gaulton (Marjorie), sister-in-law Gladys Gaulton, grandchildren, great
grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased
by her husband Elias, daughter Olive, father George Gaulton, mother Annie Gaulton
(nee Tucker), brothers: Joseph, Clayton, Seymore and Ross, brother-in-law Samuel
Hynes, sons-in-law: William Barker and Gerald Rumbolt. Funeral service was held
in St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Reef's Harbour, on August 10th with interment
at the Community Cemetery. We sincerely thank the staff of the Ivy Durley Home,
the hospital staff, Reverend Harold Harvey, Bernice Baines for helping with the
church service, Clyde Sinnicks for the music and all other friends and relatives
who visited, brought food and flowers, cards, donations and those who helped

It is with great sadness that the families of the late Seth Hedderson announce
his passing on Thursday, August 9th, 2012 at the Janeway Hospital
in St. John's NL, in his 3rd year. He will be sadly missed by his parents Belinda
Hedderson and Adam Langford. His sister Brianna. Grandparents Henry & Marie
Hedderson, Bertha Bennett & Eddie Blanchard, Willis & Bertha Langford.

On August 17, 2012 our lives were forever changed when Noreen was suddenly
and sadly taken from us. Noreen Hull (Green) of Noel's Pond passed from this
world to the next at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, at the age
56. Predeceased by her Father, George, Brother Danny and Sister Darlene along
with her Mother and Father-in-law: John and Zita Hull. Noreen will be mourned
and remembered as a strong and loving woman by her devoted Husband Terry and
forever missed by her cherished Daughter, Melissa Melony Green. She leaves
behind her Mother, Janette Green Cashin of Port au Port. Her Stepchildren Ian
(Crystal) Hull of Nova Scotia and Danielle (Donnie) Connor of Pennsylvania
along with Granddaughters' Taylor Eve and Ivy Jane all feel the loss of her
incredible and determined spirit (love you Nanny). Left to remember her fondly

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing
of our dear Mother, Gertrude Mae Maher on Monday,
August 27th, 2012 at the
Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at
the age of 89 years. Gertrude was the only child of Tryphena (Mayo) and Isaac
Foote. Born in Burin in 1922, as a toddler she travelled with her Parents to
begin a new life in Corner Brook where her Father began work at the newly established
paper mill. She grew up in Curling and built a wonderful legacy of family,
friends and laughter with the love of her life, Wilfred Maher where they first
lived on Concord Avenue and then on Kilrannoch Place. She will be forever in
our hearts and lovingly missed by her six children: Rochelle and husband Bernd
Staeben, Judy and husband Fred Tudiver, Johnson City, Tennessee, Linda and
husband Ron Porter, Calgary, AB, Kathie Maher-Wolbaum and husband Barry, Regina,
SK, Tony Maher and wife Trudy, Deer Lake, NL and Terry Maher and wife, Sheila,
Deer Lake, NL; 10 grandchildren: Brent Staeben and wife Sonya, Fredericton,
NB, Heidi Staeben-Simmons and husband, Clyde, Jannah Tudiver and husband, Yonaton,
Sackville, NB, Terri Lynn DeGiano and husband, Terry, Calgary, AB, Christine
Ireland and husband, Nick, Calgary, AB, Amanda Keith and husband, Nick, Regina
SK, Scott Wolbaum, Regina SK, Sarah Maher, Becky and Michael Maher, Deer Lake;
12 great grandchildren: Erik and Luke, Heather, Claire and Kyle, Avi, Braeden,
Liam, Jacob and Joshua, Jayden and Taylor; sister in law, Mrs. Doreen Dolomount
and brother in law, Peter Maher. She was predeceased by her parents and her
husband, Wilfred Maher (1978). She also leaves to mourn a large circle of extended
family and friends including her wonderful neighbours on the Kilrannoch "circle"
who were so good to her over the years. The Family will be receiving friends
at Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Mark's Avenue, Corner Brook on Wednesday, August
29th, 2012 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. A celebration of her life and legacy
will be held on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 11am at Memorial United Church
in Curling where she was a faithful parishioner for over 80 years, Reverend
Clayton Parsons officiating. Internment at Mount Patricia Cemetery will follow.
In her memory, donations graciously accepted to The Palliative Care Unit, Western
Memorial Regional Hospital or the Memorial United Church in Curling. The family

It is with sad but thankful hearts that the family of the late Ralph
Archibald Nichols announce his passing on Saturday, August
4th, 2012 at the Palliative
Care Unit of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, surrounded
by his family he went peacefully to be with the lord. Ralph is survived by
his daughter Debbie (John) Cole, son Donald (Veronica) Nichols, grandchildren:
Jamie (Natalie) Cullihall, Ashley Coombs (James), Andrew and Katherine Cole,
brother Reg Nichols, sister in law Eileen (Ted) Tipple and brother in law Cecil
(Emily) Fralic. Predeceased by his beloved wife Julie and eldest son Dale,
parents Norman and Hannah Nichols, mother and father in law: Harry and Annie
Oxford, sisters and brothers in law: Ruby and Carl Hussey, Blanche and Roland
Penny, Norma and Joe Butt, Marg Fralic, Dorothy Brennan, Gord Oxford and Harold
Locke. A beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Always willing to
lend a hand he was a friend to many people from all walks of life. He worked
for Bowater's and Kruger for 42 years. A volunteer par excellence he tirelessly
worked for many years with a determined and passion rarely seen today. He assumed
assorted leadership roles within St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church
including founding member of Killdevil Camp in Lomond. A few of his countless
community involvements include Deer Lake Town Council and Deputy Mayor; during
his short term as Mayor he spearheaded the fight to keep the Deer Lake Airport
alive. Joint Humber Valley Development Committee, School Tax Authority, School
Board, Library Board, Historical Society and Industrial Safety Board etc etc…
A life time member of the Masonic Lodge and a proud Shriner. In his spare time
he was an avid vegetable gardener. Visitation will be held at Fillatre's Funeral
Home, 10 Clinic Drive Deer Lake on Monday August 6th from 7-9PM and Tuesday
August 7th from 2-4 and 7-9PM, the celebration on his life will take place
on Wednesday August 8th at 2PM from St Michael and all Angels Anglican Church

Jack Senior, parents: Hannah and George Senior, parents-in-law: James and Minetta
Brake, brother-in-law: Gerald Brake and his wife Eileen. Leaving to mourn with
fond and loving memories are his loving children, Holly Reeves (Ivan Langdon),
Shelley Senior, Kathy Moore (Patrick Moore), Natalie Dutchak (Kevin Dutchak),
Melanie Gamble (Paul Rideout); ten grandchildren; six great- grandchildren;

and a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. His family was his life,

Passed peacefully away in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional
Hospital with his family at his bedside on Monday, August 27, 2012 following
a brief but courage battle with cancer, William Robert Spencer of Pasadena, NL
at the age of 63 years. Bill was born in Cul de Sac West, a small, now resettled
community on the southwest Coast of the Province, son of the late Samuel and
Esther Spencer (nee Hardy). He grew up in Port aux Basques and then worked for
more than 35 years with the Provincial Department of Works, Services and Transportation.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Sam and sister Millie. He leaves to mourn
with loving memories his wife of 41 years, Mary (nee Williams), sons Robert (Tammy)
and Michael (Gerarda), daughter Ann Marie Noel (David), precious grandchildren
Allie Spencer, Lilianne Noel, Damien and Alysha Collings, siblings Sue Edmonds
(Leroy), Eileen Dingwell (Cliff), Margaret Crewe (Max), Pearl Francis (Joe),
Cecil (Roseanna), Gary, Barry (Sandra), David (Joanne), Paul (Tracey), sisters-in-law
Lorraine Patten (John Roil) and Winnie Hoyt (John), together with numerous nephews,
nieces, other relatives and a large circle of friends. As Bill had requested,
cremation has taken place. Visitation at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's
Avenue, Corner Brook on Wednesday, August 29 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A memorial
gathering will take place in Fillatre's Chapel on Thursday, August 30 at 2:00
pm followed by inurnment at the Anglican Cemetery, Pasadena. Flowers are gratefully
