MEANEY, Mary Frances (Ryan)
Passed on: August 16th, 2018
Age 91 of Dartmouth NS formally of Corner Brook, NL
.
Mary, Mom, Nano passed away peacefully on Thursday evening on August 16, 2018 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with her adoring family by her side. Mom and Dad moved from Corner Brook, Newfoundland to Dartmouth in the spring of 2016 to be closer to their four girls, following many years of love and attention given to them by their only boy. We girls could not have been happier. This move was a gift to us and we have cherished the adventures and family gatherings that ensued - country drives, beach time, pool time. Mom was a lifelong swimmer. Being by or in the water sustained her. While Mom had a few health challenges in the last years of her life, she faced them with dignity and determination. We are thankful for the attention her new community gave her - from the staff at Parkland at the Lakes to Dr. Barry Clarke. You have all been so thoughtful and caring. Mary leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Mike; her son, John (Debbie); daughters, Wynne Anne (Joe), Michelle (Bob), Donna (Brent), Catherine (Mike) and grandchildren, Bradley, Samantha, Jake, Hannah and Andrew. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Ryan Sr. and Catherine (Kit), of St. John's, NL. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Tom Jr., Jack, Mick and Jim of St. John's, and sister, Patsy Goobie of White Rock, BC. A private family ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 and Mom will return to her beloved Newfoundland at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel).

Joan Moss
was a force. An unwavering source of love and kindness. She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and grandmother. Born in Corner Brook, on the west coast of Newfoundland she has touched the lives of everyone she met until peacefully passing yesterday in Gander with her son, Clane. Joan was a caregiver, a mother to all. It came naturally to her. From her siblings to grandchildren and everywhere in between, Joan shared her love of life and how beautiful an experience it could be. She loved the simple things like the flowers in her garden and trinkets at flea markets, while also cherishing the excitement of big city theater and glamorous shopping malls. She loved her family and her friends in the way love should be, non-judgmental and unconditional. Joan Moss was a force. She made waves in life and her kindness ripples on in us forever. Joan was predeceased by husband, Clary Moss; infant daughter, Laura; parents, Wilfred and Laura Buckle and brother Llewelyn Buckle. TAAFFE, Laura (nee Ozon)
Passed on: August 17th, 2018

At 94 years, Laura slipped peacefully away on August 17 at the Dartmouth General, leaving us bereft but grateful for the love, the humour and the light she gave us. She was one of six children born to Louis Ozon and Beatrice Power in St. Georges, NL. Laura spent her childhood in St. Pierre and Miquelon steeped in the French culture and where she nurtured a life-long love of music, of foods of the world and the gallic "come what may" acceptance of life from which she drew her boundless joie de vivre. The Ozons returned to Newfoundland where she completed her education, excelling in her piano studies. She met her dear husband Frank in Corner Brook; their union in 1950 sparked a vibrant family. Together, they built a wonderful home which Laura enriched with her spirit, her positivity, her enduring faith, her ability to see what really mattered and her unfailing respect for others. Having lost her husband in 1986, Laura courageously began a new life in Dartmouth in 1988 where she created a new family gathering place and nurtured enduring friendships. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her eight children; Marguerite (Joe), Cecilia (Greg), Rita (John), Michael (Anne), Mary (Wayne), Greg (Joy), Theresa (George) and Edward (Shauna). Her cherished grandchildren will so miss their Nan; Sarah, Kevin, Natalie, Erin, Laura, Tara, David, Johnathan, Steven, Sara, Emily, Jane, Peter, Melissa, Adam, Devon, Matthew, Olivia and Amy as will their children, Laura's fourteen great-grandchildren. Her brothers, Joe and Eugene will also miss their dear sister. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, by her sister, Little Marguerite and her brothers Ted and Robert. Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, August 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 at Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Mark's Avenue. A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Saturday, August 25 at 10:30 with burial to follow at the Townsite Catholic Cemetery.
