It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Pittman announce her passing at the Pollard's Point (Main River Retirement Home) in her 68th year. She leaves to mourn her brother Elijah (Wavey) Pittman, Jackson's Arm; her nieces: Hazel (Francis Loder), Deer Lake and Leatrice (Abraham Ricketts), Deer Lake, Marie (Hugh) Gale, Sop's Arm, Tracey (Terry Drover), Peterview, N.J. Joan (Wein Roberts), Alberton, PEI; three nephews: Hayward (Nora Drover), Jackson's Arm, Scott (Loriann) Pittman, Bishop's Falls and Trevor (Marcy) Pittman, Alberton, PEI. Also a large circle of relatives and friends and the residents and staff of Main River Retirement Home. She was predeceased by her parents Hayward and Belinda Pittman and her four sisters, Leatrice, Winnie, Rita and Hazel. Visitation took place from the Anglican Church in Jackson's Arm, Tuesday, November 30th, from where funeral services will take place Wednesday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend William Ranson officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. As expression of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Reid announce her passing at the Bonne Bay Health Center in her 86th year. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Leslie, of 65 years; her seven daughters and five sons; a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by three sons and one daughter. Lucy (Billard) Kendall
, 105, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Guest Home. Born in Grand Bruit, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Edith (Ingraham) Billard. Lucy moved to Ramea in her early years, there she met and married Leo Kendall, a fisherman. Leo and Lucy had a happy life together, as things were tough in those days. They raised seven children in Ramea. After Leo passed in 1977, Lucy moved to North Sydney to live with her daughter Margaret until 1994, when she moved to the Northside Guest Home. Lucy will be missed by her family and many friends. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. She is survived by: daughters: Margaret Skinner, North Sydney, Edith, St. John's; sons: George (Florence), Henry (Betty), both of Corner Brook, Montfred, Ontario; daughter-in-law Mary, NL; son-in-law Roland, ON; also by many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren living in Alaska, Ontario, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Minnesota and Virginia. She was predeceased by: husband Leo, daughter Audrey, sons: Walter and Wilfred, sister Hanna and brothers: Jack and Joe. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral and burial to take place in Ramea, NL. Memorial donations can be made to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.

He leaves to mourn his wife Rose (Blanchard), his sons Todd (Kim), Ted and Tim (Nancy), grandchildren: Tiffany and Mickey, all of Deer Lake. He also leaves with fond and loving memories his sister Brenda (Ray Burk), his brother Vince (Judy), niece Heather of Sydney, NS, his sister Helen Lovett (Wayne) of Dartmouth, NS, brother-in-law Allan Durbrack, his three nieces, Amanda, Alana and Heather of Cole Harbour, NS and a nephew Adrian MacNeil of Alberta. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Main announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 11:11 p.m. at the age of 66 years. She will be sadly missed by three sons: Robert (Bobby) Felix, Greg Main and Ian (Della) Main; two daughters: Dorothy (Arthur) Bedo and Rhonda Main; seven brothers: Cecil (Carmie) Felix, Gus (Rita) Felix, Ted (Ruby) Felix, Arsene (Levern) Felix, Gregory (Joanne) Felix, Conrad Felix and Tommy Kennedy; three sisters: Myra (Lawrence) White, Winnie McLeod and Madge Ryan; seven grandchildren: Kayla Bedo, Bradley Bedo, Ryan Bedo, Evan Main, Brianna Main Parsons, James Main and MacKenzie Main and a large circle of relatives and friends. Friends may call at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Port au Port West (please use back door of church) on Tuesday (after 11:00 a.m.) and Wednesday. Funeral service will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Port au Port West on Thursday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. Cremation service will take place after the funeral service at Russell's Crematorium, Stephenville. MORRIS, Richard (Rick)
Passed away suddenly after a short illness on December 3, 2004, Rick Morris, aged 46 of St. John's. Predeceased by his mother Geraldine. He leaves to mourn his wife Susan Pye, son Shane and daughter Anna; father, Sidney; brothers: Robert (Anne), Peter (Sally Ackerman), Philip (Susan); father-in-law Terry Pye; sister-in-law Alison Pye (Jim Weick); nephews: Stephen, Timothy, Thomas, Christopher and Michael Morris and Aaron Weick; aunts: Dorothy Halleran, Margaret Halleran, Rosemary Trimble (Blair), Sheila Morris; also many other family members, and a large circle of close friends and colleagues. In his life and work with many groups and communities, Rick's compassion, sense of justice and fairness were paramount. He valued and cared deeply about the people and issues he was involved with. He will be sorely missed. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, Freshwater Road, on Monday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at Gower Street United Church, Wednesday, December 8 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Brian Noel Bugden announce his passing on Wednesday, December 8th, 2004 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in his 48th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife and friend Beatrice Patricia (nee Maynard). He was a loving father and friend of daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Jason and special granddaughter Emma. A loving father and friend of daughter Bethany. His loving parents Benjamin and Betty Bugden, his sister Brenda Bugden and his brother Bliss of Brampton, Ontario. Also leaves with fond and loving memories, a number of close sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and a large circle of friends. Brian was predeceased by sister Lola, granddad Clarence Shears, and also grandparents James and Minnie Bugden. The family will be receiving family and friends at their home in Norris Point as of Thursday, December 9th, 2004. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Sheppard Hewitt, sister of the bride, Cathy Peddle, sister of the groom, and Janice Sheppard, sister-in-law of the bride. The Best Man was Mark Jones, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Richard Peddle, friend of the groom, Stephen Peddle, brother of the groom, Colin Pittman, friend of the groom, Brian Scott, friend of the groom, and James Sheppard, brother of the bride. Ring Bearer was Spencer Hewitt, nephew of the bride. Vocalist for the ceremony was Sandra Hounsell. Ushers were Adam Joyce, friend of the groom, and Derek Jeffrey Sheppard, cousin of the bride. Musicians were Andrea Hounsell, flute, David Hutchings, trumpet and Doreen Klassen, organ. Photographs were taken by Melvin Gill in the beautiful garden of the groom's parents at Humber Park. Derek Sheppard, uncle of the bride was driver for the bride and groom. The reception was held at the Rod and Gun Club, Massey Drive with Master of Ceremonies, Janet Joyce. The club was decorated by Joanne Peddle. Grace was said by Marguerite Sheppard, grandmother of the bride. The newlyweds traveled to Mexico for their honeymoon and are currently residing in Greenville, South Carolina. Passed peacefully away on Saturday, December 11, Ada Marie Sturge, beloved daughter of the late Gilbert and Jean Pike of Curling. Predeceased by her loving husband Rev. E. Clifton Sturge; she leaves to continue her memory daughters Carolyn and Catheryn and granddaughters Jessica & Cara. Surrounded by his loving family, Kerry R. Hill (RCMP retired), passed away December 14, 2004, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a brief illness, aged 49 years. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mrs. Mary Hill and the late Charles H. Hill, of Sydney River. Kerry was a proud member of the RCMP for 29 years, serving in various communities in Newfoundland. Passed away peacefully December 14th, taking his last breath surrounded by his family at the age of 64. Beloved husband for 39 years of Pauline (nee Simard). Loving father of Nancy (Cheemun), Mark (Jodi) and Michel (Dany). Devoted grandfather of Nicolas, Emilie, Jack and Thomas. Born in Deer Lake Nfld., son of Helen and Walter Kennedy, brother of Catherine Davies (late Rick) and of Madelyn Corbett (Phil) and their families. Worked as an electrical engineer in the paper mill industry until he retired three years ago. As well, he leaves behind great friends and family members in Newfoundland, the Ottawa area, and many parts of Quebec including Saguenay, New-Richmond, Lebel-Sur-Quevillon, Pointe-Claire and most recently in St-Zotique, anywhere he could find  a sheet of ice to curl on or a green fairway to drive onto! Passed away at the Health Science Centre, in St. John's, on Friday, December 17, 2004, Antonio (Tony) Costella born in Vittorio Veneto, Italy, on September 24, 1931, Tony came to Canada in 1954, and was a resident of Corner Brook, NL, for over 30 years. He leaves to mourn one daughter, Natalia Costella-Martin (Shawn Martin), and four grandchildren (Kayla, Tasha, Hayley, and Cyan) - all in Chamberlains, NL; three sisters (Gabriella, AnnaMaria, and Assunta) and their families - all in Italy; also other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and one brother. Cremation took place at Carnell's Funeral Home, St. John's, on December 18, 2004. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

April 22, 1935 to December 27, 2004

It is with sadness that the family of the late Barbara Basha announce her peaceful passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, December 27, 2004. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother to her only son, Jim, and his wife Gael (nee Butt) and their children Craig and Sarah of Calgary, and her three daughters: Toni Marie, and husband, Cyril  Lockyer and their children, Alex, Morgan and Sasha of Corner Brook, Dodie and husband, Colin MacLean and their children, Jessica (Gaetan Doucet) and Stuart of St. Anthony and Ann-Margret and husband, Dion White and their children Evan and Mark of Port aux Basques and spouse of many years, Tony Basha of Peterborough. Barbara also leaves to mourn her brothers: Mickey of California and Kevin and his wife, Marie of Corner Brook, and both her sisters: Amy and her husband, Vic Bjelajac of California and Ann Marie of St. John's as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Moore, sisters: Doreen, Margaret, Martha, Elizabeth Ann, and brothers: William, Gerard, James, and John Primm. Visitation will take place from Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Thursday, December 20, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 31, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. from Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral with Father Gale officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nettie Hope Delaney announce her passing on Tuesday, December 21st, 2004 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 77 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Joan (Ivan) Nichols, Deer Lake; four sons: Edward, Toronto, ON, Anthony (Phillis), Summerside, Christopher, Cox's Cove and Martin (Jennifer), Toronto, ON; 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Stahle, Toronto, ON; brothers: Ralph (Lillian), Cox's Cove, William, Toronto, ON and Moody (Gloria), Curling; sisters-in-law: June Allen, Toronto, ON, Merceedes (William) Wells, Lower Sackville, NS and Mary (Jim) Park, Curling. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Delaney, step-son Leonard, son John Jr., two grandchildren, sister Joan and husband Ron Targett and brother Robert. The family received friends from St. Nicholas Anglican Church in Cox's Cove on Thursday, December 23rd from where the funeral service was held on Friday, December 24th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sidney Payne officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Nicholas Anglican Church Memorial Fund. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ethel Mae Blanchard announce her passing on Wednesday, December 29th, 2004 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 89 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving family her six sons: Ernest (Claudine), Clayton, Roland (Gloria), all of Meadows, Jordy (Maureen), Norris Point, Brian (Marie), McIvers and Lawrence (Peggy), Meadows. Five daughters: Una Lovell, McIvers, Isabel (David) Hunt, Meadows, Jean (Garry) Combdon, Jackson's Arm, Avril and Anita Blanchard both of Meadows. Twenty four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Sister Lena (Freeman) Bolt, brother Chesley (Sylvia) Brake both of Meadows. Two sisters-in-law: Inez Brake, Meadows and Edith Blanchard, Corner Brook. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Blanchard, November 2002, daughter Olive, sons Wilfred and Randell, parents Thomas and Isabella Brake, brother Harvey, son-in-law Nelson Lovell and brother-in-law John Blanchard. The family will be receiving friends from Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Meadows today, Friday from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 1st, at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Percy Coffin officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Memorial Fund. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mildred, seven daughters: Joan (William) Dugan, Jean (Bernard) Vincent, both of Corner Brook, Marie (Nelson) Pearce, Eastern Passage, NS, Barbara (Calvin) Locke, Mahone Bay, NS, Margaret (Raymond) Rose, Sharon Wiseman, both of Corner Brook and Helan (Anthony) Beck, Barrie, Ontario. One son David Wiseman, Toronto, Ontario, special grandson Tom Wiseman, Corner Brook. 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-law Geraldine Wiseman, Corner Brook. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Batstone, brothers Stephen, Alexander and Ralph.
