CROWN LANDS

Contributed by Barbara McGrath

They have crown land grants dating back to the late 1700's up to today. Some information is missing due to fires and missing records, otherwise it is a wonderful source of tracing your roots in Newfoundland.

The following is the address for Crown Lands, etc. Here you can access their premises free of charge and use their data base to research for any SURNAME that you are searching. It will give you the Crown land number and folio number and then you go to a cabinet and retrieve a microfiche and use the fiche copier to see and make copies of the grant. Each copy made from the fiche copier costs .25c.
