The Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (FHSNL) is currently (2016) located on Pippy Place and is open on a regular basis every Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, (see website for any schedule updates). Society members can use the Centre's resources free of charge; non-members are charged a small research fee. The fee is used to maintain the FHSNL collections and keep the Resource Centre open to the public. Staff will assist researchers to locate records relevant to their research. Photocopying is done by staff only, and although some records may be restricted, unrestricted material may be obtained for a "per page" fee basis.

Annual membership in the FHSNL provides researchers with access to a large number of paper and digitized collections which include:

• General Genealogical/Family History Information
• Parish Register Transcriptions
• Gert Crosbie and Mildred Howard Newspaper Item Collections
• Donated Family Histories
• National and International Family History Journals and Periodials
• Newfoundland Directories - Business/Telephone/Misc.
• Census Records, Various Lists and Reports
• Searchable Index to Pre-1892 Vital Stats Birth Records
• Audio recordings of public lectures since early 2012
• Back issues of the Society's quarterly journal - The Newfoundland Ancestor - since inception late 1984
• Scanned copies of FHSNL's entire collection of headstone transcriptions and
  searchable Headstone Database based on these headstone transcriptions
• Copies of original records from the Provincial Archives, including: miscellaneous deeds and wills and Newfoundland passports
