Thank you.

To the Honorable House of Assembly in Legislative session convened:
The Petition of the undersigned residents of Indian Arm in the electorial district
of Bonavista humbly showeth as follows:

Petitioners are very much interested in the cause of education, believing,
as they do, that much of the present and future welfare of the Colony and its
people depends upon the proper education of its children.

Petitioners believe that our present system of Education can be improved
without adding materially to the amount now annually expended by the Colony
upon this important service. Even if the improvements suggested call for a
larger expenditure of public money, petitioners believe that this expenditure
will be thoroughly justified as being in the best interest of the people.

  1. Free Elementary Education
  2. Compulsory attendance by children between the ages of seven
and fourteen during a definite portion of the school year.
  3. Efficient and systematic government inspection of school buildings.
  4. Medical inspection of school children at least once a year.

And petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
