Part 4 of St Mary's Bay petition. 596 names total.

The following is the text of the letter (page 23) found at the end of the petition

St Mary's Janry 22 1910

The Right Hon Sir Edward Morris
Hon dear Sir

We are forwarding to Mr Frank Morris by today's mail the first instalment of signitures to the petition which he has lately sent us, for the railway to Salmonier and St Mary's.

Sir, we labour under the great disadvantage of having no Executive member, we beg therefore to remind you of your kind promise to act for us in the Executive. We know of course that the matter practically rests in your own hands.

Sir, permit us to point out to you that St Mary's Bay returned Mr Morris and his collegues to office precisely because of their railway promises. It was when they rounded Cape St Mary's and came into the Bay, it was their that their first felt definite assurance of their great victory over the commeuse influence of the most formidable of honest of your government.

Sir, in granting this railway you shall not only confer immense prosperity on Salmonier and St Mary's but in opening up this rich and beautiful district you shall add an asset of exceedingly great value to the Excheqner and confer lasting benefit on the whole country of Newfoundland

We have the norour to the Sir, yours
SO Driscell PP St Mary's
Alex Howley PP Salmonier
