ALEXANDER BANNISTER.
The Last Will and Testament of Alexander Bannister.
I, Alexander Bannister of Port Rexton Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, being of sound
mind, memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament in
manner and form following.
First. At my demise all my money on deposit in the Bank (Royal Bank of Canada)
and in the Port Union Fishermans Trading Co is to remain on deposit until my
wife (Esther Bannister) decease, and from this said deposits,
I endow my said wife Esther Bannister with one hundred and
twenty dollars per year from the interest on my money, and should the capital
sum diminish this said one hundred and twenty dollars must be drawn from the
interest and principal, and paid to my said wife as long as she remains a widow.
My above mentioned wife is to remain in the old home as long as she remains
a widow, but should my son
Robert Bannister require half the old home as a private dwelling,
while my wife is alive, he will be at liberty to do so, and at my wife's demise,
should my son Erik Bannister return to the hold home to live, he is to have
half the said old home, and my son Robert Bannister the other half of the said
Old Home, but should the said Erik not return home to live, the said Robert is to own the whole old home after my said wifes death.
At my wifes marriage or death my money is to be divided in the following manner:
Five Hundred Dollars must first be deducted for my son Robert Bannister;
after which the balance is to be equally divided between my sons Garland
Bannister, Robert Bannister, Whitfield Bannister, Erik Bannister and
my adopted daughter
Lucy Vivian, I give and bequeath half the amount
which my above mentioned four sons shall then receive W.w. My
Six Hundred Dollars in shares in the Union Trading Companies at Port Union,
are to be divided equally between my three sons Garland, Robert, and
Erik.
My Schooner "(Petuna" and fishing gear I divide equally between my two sons
Garland and Robert; and should my son Erik return home and take up the work
of the fishery, he is to have a third part of the said Schr and fishing gear,
but he is not to sell and again leave home. My land is to be equally divided
between my four before mentioned sons, and it is never to be taken for debt.
My horse is for my son Robert Bannister and the Cow is to remain on the Old
Homestead. I appoint my son Whitfield and Wm T. MacNeil my Executors.

sealed and declared by the above mentioned Alexander Bannister as and for,
his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed
our names at his request as witnesses thereto, in the presence of the said
testator and of each other, having been first read over and explained, this
twenty Eighth day of June 1921.
