Will of Robert Blackwood from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 65-66 probate year 1886

Last will and Testament of
Robert Blackwood of St. John's
Hairdresser.

This is the last will and testament of me Robert Blackwood of St. John's Hairdresser.

First. I bequeath to my sister-in-law widow of my late brother Andrew my furniture books clothes and other chattels of a like kind

Second To my nephew Andrew C. Blackwood I devise my cottage and the grounds connected therewith about six acres

Third. I also devise to my said nephew Andrew C. Blackwood a strip of land to the westward of the land last described known as the "wild land" to the extent of three acres such strip to run North and south in a parallel line from Pokeham Path to the Monday Pond Road.

Fourth The balance of the land undevised shall be divided in three equal parts and where so divided Mrs. Henry Blair shall have a first choice Daniel Blackwood second choice and Robert Blackwood third choice of the portions it being understood that the piece of land formerly assigned to Daniel shall be included in the strip devised to him.

Fifth. I devise to Andrew C. Blackwood the piece of land of mine situate at Long Pond above Topsail.

Sixth. To Mrs. Henry Blair I devise a piece of land adjoining Arglis Pond on the Topsail Road.

Seventh. The farm on the Freshwater Road I devise to my nephews Robert Blackwood and Daniel Blackwood to be equally divided between them.

Eighth. I desire that my sister in law shall have the privilege during her lifetime of occupying jointly with my nephew Andrew C. Blackwood during the summer months the cottage and grounds.

Ninth. I charge my executor hereinafter named with the maintenance and support of my sister-in-law out of the general estate that she shall have a suitable place of residence and the sum of fifty pounds per annum during her lifetime or so long as the said estate can pay her that sum.

Tenth. I appoint my nephew Andrew C. Blackwood the executor of this my said will.

Eleventh. To the Gower street Methodist Church and the trustees thereof for the benefit of said Church I bequeath two shares in the Ath??? Joint Stock Company - Robert Blackwood - Signed published and declared as and for his last will and Testament of the said Robert Blackwood who executed the same in the presence of us who in the presence of the Testator and of each other signed our names as witnesses.
