Will of Hannah Butt, from Newfoundland will books volume 15 page 414 probate year 1931

Hannah Butt

This is the last will and testament of me Hannah Butt of the Waterford Bridge Road near Saint John's Married Woman.

  1. I give devise and bequeath to my son James Butt for his use during his life that piece or parcel of land with the stable thereon situate on the East side of the Road de Luxe and bounded as follows: commencing at a point on the East side of Road de Luxe immediately opposite the south-western corner of the stable upon the said land; running thence in a southerly direction along the Road de Luxe ten feet; thence in an Easterly direction parallel with the Southern wall of the said stable for a distance of sixty feet; thence in a Northerly direction to the Northern boundary of my land; thence in a Westerly direction along the said Northern boundary of my land to the Road de Luxe; and thence in a Southerly direction along the said Road de Luxe to the place of commencement.
  2. On the death of my said son if he shall leave a child or children then living I give devise and bequeath the said piece or parcel of land to such child or children forever and absolutely; if more than one in equal shares.
  3. All the rest residue and remainder of my land on the Waterford Bridge Road and Road de Luxe together with the cottage thereupon I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Marie Redmond forever SUBJECT NEVERTHELESS to any mortgage or mortgages to which it and the adjoining land described in the foregoing paragraph may be subject at my death; and upon condition that my said daughter shall assume all liability for the said mortgage or mortgages.
  4. I appoint my said daughter executrix of this my will.

Witness my hand at Saint John's aforesaid this 24th day of November Anno Domini one thousand nine hundred and thirty.
