GEORGE SEYMOUR CHAMBERLAIN.
The last will and testament of George Seymour Chamberlain Priest of Catalina.
I George Seymour Chamberlain Priest of Catalina in the Dominion of Newfoundland
being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make my last will and testament
in manner and form following.
First. I give devise and bequeath to Jessie relict of the
late Amias Barnes whom I have adopted as a daughter companion, and manager
of my household affairs and effects (if she be still living with me and preserving
the relationship at the time of my decease) three thousand five hundred dollars
Second. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Julia
Caroline Mary Rennie one thousand dollars.
Third. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Mary Roberts
Cunningham one thousand dollars.
Fourth. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Laura
Margaret Hammond one thousand dollars.
Fifth. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Mabel Guy Three thousand five hundred dollars.
Sixth. I give devise and bequeath to my granddaughter Evelyn
Margaret Victoria Cunningham one hundred dollars.
Seventh. I give devise and bequeath to Queens College St.
John's two hundred and fifty dollars.
Eighth. I give devise and bequeath to the Church of England Orphanage
St. John's the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars.
Ninth. I give devise and bequeath to my grandson Cecil Ward
Cunningham my gold watch, gold chain, and gold cross.
Tenth. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Mabel Guy aforesaid the organ, any personal effects wheresoever and whatever belonging
to her late mother, my beloved wife Amelia also any or the whole of her pictures
and frames, her work at Littledale.
Eleventh. I give devise and bequeath to the aforesaid Jessie
Barnes my private set of Sacred Vessels and linen for Clinical Holy Communion.
Twelfth I give devise and bequeath to the aforesaid Jessie
Barnes and Mabel Guy to be fairly divided and separated equitably
the residue of my estate consisting of any moneys which I may die possessed
of S.J. Bishop household effects viz:
beds bedding plate, cutlery, fancy articles, stoves, books, rugs etc etcG.S.
Chamberlain in their divided right and benefit.
I earnestly desire and request that
my mortal remains be deposited beside those of my late wife Amelia predecease
me, and the emblem of Our Salvation (a cross) may mark
the spot, also that a sufficient sum of money be retained from my estate to
meet any expense incurred in connection with my interment.
Thirteenth. I hereby appoint the Reverend Nicholas S. Facey L.L.D Principal of Queens College and Samuel
James Bishop Notary Public executors
of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I George
Seymour Chamberlain the testator have to this my last will and testament set
my hand and my seal this eighteenth day of August one thousand nine hundred
and twenty five. Thereby revoking all or any previous wills.

and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who have hereunto
subscribed our names at his request as witnesses thereto in presence of the
said testator and of each other.

Codicil to the above will.
Whereas I George Seymour Chamberlain did on the eighteenth
day of August one thousand nine hundred and twenty five make my last will and
testament I do now by this writing add this my codicil to my said will to be
taken as part thereof.
I give and bequeath to the aforesaid Jessie Barnes my
dwelling house with all its contents and land at Catalina with the erections
thereon for her sole use and benefit.
In
witness whereof I hereunto place my hand and seal this twentieth day of March
one thousand nine hundred and twenty eight.

Chamberlain as and for a codicil to be annexed to his last will and testament and we at
his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed
our names as witnesses thereto to the date thereof.

Later codicil to the above Dec 29/28.
I
George S. Chamberlain made the following addition to the codicil. I earnestly
request and wish that the thousand dollars referred to as my bequest to my
daughter Julia Caroline Mary Rennie who has since deceased
be divided equally between her three youngest daughters.
I also give and bequeath
to the aforesaid Jessie Barnes an extra five hundred dollars making a total
bequest for her of four thousand dollars.
